WJC made revenue only by the tv broadcast, with so many teams boycotting there is no reason to hold the tournament at all and losing shitton of money without the ads and the sponsors on the tv screens.

The skoda cup - WJC is cancellable, the skoda cup is not.
Germany will cancel the whole thing if the waiting game doesn't make a result. Here comes the problem.

A - Sponsors are withdrawing fast and the IIHF is bleeding money. Skoda is going to hold a meeting on friday regarding their sponsorship.
B - The IIHF has an insurance for cancellation (this is why in 2021 the cancelled covid tournament was the most proffitable tournament in the history of ice hockey), but it doesn't cover political reasons. Right now they are bleeding money in a really fast way, cancelling it will make them bankrupt.
C - if germany really cancels the tournament they need to find a new host. And fast. Slovakia already made an offer, noone else is willing in the EU. The US made an offer aswell, but the skoda cup is mainly a european thing, they will lsoe ad revenue again during the broadcasts, and the fans wouldn't travel that far.
D - even if Slovakia or the US takes over the tournament the problem of the boycotting teams is still relevant. It is like a neverending circle.
