How can F1 be considered a fair, competitive sport if some drivers' cars are just inherently better than others? Why don't all drivers get identical cars?

>How can F1 be considered a fair, competitive sport
who does?
>>
>>158466280
it always was a constructors' championship.
once AI drivers are good enough, meat proxy drivers are gone.

>>158466280
>look we made the fastest car!
It’s not a sport, it’s a marketing show.
>>
>>158466280
It's part 'driving contest' and part 'engineering battle'.

Marketing for what products? Only rich people could afford to buy F1 cars. Does Ferrari winning really make rich people buy completely different, consumer Ferrari luxury cars?
>>158466544
If only that engineering was actually put to good use. F1 cars are like luxury watches, I'm sure a lot of work went into designing and building the watch in pic related, thinnest watch in the world, but at the end of the day, it costs $780,000, and had no practical use that a $10 quartz watch can't accomplish, it's a vanity project.

lol

Entertaining millions of people around the world for decades is a worthy use the engineers. Now for the brands, it builds their reputation in a highly competitive industry. Enjoy it while it lasts.
>>
>>158466280
because the sport if not only about drivers duh. it's the synergy between man and machine. manufacturers should be more praised than drivers imo
>>
Drivers are just the face, it's always been about the engineering and innovative ways to skirt the rulebook.
>>
>>158466593
F1 would be more entertaining if the drivers had identical cars and only their driving skills were what won them races. F1 as it is is boring, you can predict what position in the championship drivers end up in fairly accurately simply based on how good their cars are for that year.
>>
>>158466280
its not
its a faggot sport where 99% of the "fans" are just bandwagoners who c U ck to a favorite driver and seethe when they dont win
>>
>>158466280
The engineering is part of the sport and sometimes you get seasons like 2021 or 2024 where a driver wins the championship without having the best car
>>
>>158466575
An individual purchasers may not be thinking about F1 when they buy a Ferrari, but it's a huge part of their brand identity and their overall position in the market.
>>

watches are hilarious
I work in manufacturing and what it takes to make something like this is less complicated than a mass produced coffee maker that sells for 100 dollars.
It's piss easy to manufacture components for stuff like this these days.
The only watches that are worth anything are true bespoke handmade ones, not swissshitted trash.

Uh huh, do you watch Formula E?
>>
>>158466280
What you’re looking for is Indycar and even that isn’t safe from being pozzed anymore now that they’re removing most of the ovals

I always thought it would be interesting if they allowed the drivers to rotate among the cars. Give the drivers a chance to showcase who was actually the better driver, while allowing the engineers to do their thing for the constructors title.
>>
>>158466868
Idea rejected.
>>
There are 10 sprint races next season.

They should bump it up to 11, but change them to constructor races, where each team has to provide the parts for 22 equal vehicles, so you get these short races where they all get equal footing.

F1 has always been an engineering competition, with the drivers being tasked to get the most out of the cars
>fair
It never was fair in the sense of equity, but it used to be fair in the sense that everybody pushed for innovation and could hit the jackpot. That worked quite well
Nowadays, it's not even a real engineering competition anymore, there are 10000000 dumb rules suffocating everything. And the drivers are mostly just random billionaire nepobabies who work as influencers first and foremost. And since the majority of F1 fans aren't even actual motorsports fans anymore, the entire thing is basically a fake drama show with storylines while the car brands argue about what sustainability feature they must integrate next
Scrap 95% of the rules, end Drive to Survive, and tell everyone who thinks of influencers or marketing before racing to fuck off. Then it becomes competitive again, and then it'll be fair again. But without equity, that is not absolutely necessary

This f1 fags dont realize how small of a % of the world cares about that engineering "sport"
>>158466649
>>158466280
Op what you look for exist in F2 and indycar, and it fucking sucks too, the smallest configuration that the teams can do to the car impacts the car performance massively, even if they have the same car, and another thing is the amount of races won by pitstops that happened there too, somehow motorsports cuck see a race being won by pitting early/late and not overtakes and they applaud like caddle

My advice? Watch moro gp or bike racing where the bike matters less and there are no pitstops, or watch motocross is even better there its like 90% the rider 10% the bike
>>
>>158466280
you're approaching F1 from the wrong side
it's an engeneering competition, the best engeneers win, drivers are just part of the car. Teams try to get the best components to make their cars, one of those components is the driver
if it's not as good as other driver it's not much because they can make difference with other bits of the car
drivers in F1 have nothing to do with the results, they are even forbidden to even try and do something else than the orders they get from the teams

Shut the fuck up retard cars being better its all mechanical all science all 100% gay
Men being better than other men is actual competition actual hardwork and what sports are about, f1 is disgusting
>>
>>158466575
Ferrari probably pays off the team just with merch sold to retards.
>>
>>158466868
You mean like when Lewis Hamilton couldn’t race once, so they put some random test driver in his car, and that guy still won?
>>
>>158470037
>You mean like when Lewis Hamilton couldn’t race once, so they put some random test driver in his car, and that guy still won?
Yes. Each driver runs a race in each team car. Teams and manufacturers get points for the position of their cars, while the drivers get points for achieving the highest finishes in each car. Would show off the best kit, and the best driver, which is why F1 fags would hate it because all they care about is the equipment, and not the racing.

How about giving IndyCar a chance? Identical chassis for everyone and only 2 engine choices.

As the others said, marketing. Ferrari built its reputation on decades of racing.
