I'd like to present an interesting project: Tribler
To be short, let's go:
- open source
- build-it onion routing (you are the node! but not an exit node!)
- optional more HOPs, default 1
- designed to protect from snooping lawyers
- works!
- a built-in decentralized search engine (yeet skeet yada)
- designed in the netherlands, a nice academic research
- easy to install

Downsides:
- you have to limit it's relaying speed externally a bit! but not always!

- No, your IP will not be used as a torrent exit.
- Yes, Tribler is using pure UDP traffic.
- Yes, it can connect to http trackers via relays.
- Yes, DHT works!
- Yes it's slower than a plain bittorrent client.
- Yes! It's perfect for countries which are not torrent friendly: UK, USA, Germany, other.

No! Tribler is not designed to protect you as good as TOR. It has a different purpose.
