I'm interested to know if anyone has tried the systems that use cards to resolve actions or provide story cues, like Enter the Shadowside or Lace & Steel.

I was thinking about making a game in which each character-unit has a pool of cards they draw from, which are based on their "class". Dice will determine which card is "drawn", as the cards are magic items in-game.
The card will have an Ace Type, which will determine which member of the character-unit will be able to use the card's Skill.
The Skill will have conditions for use, such as a flying rock attack only usable on wastelands, or thorned ivy attacks only usable in forests, with the power of the Skill scaling with the individual's attributes.
Even if the Skill can't be used by an individual, the card has a Movement rating that serves as a pool for the entire unit. One dude may use up all the movement, or you may split it up as much as desired.
Each card will also have a Power value, which determines how much Damage the target takes if they lose the Attack Resolution. Power is modified by factors calculated during the Attack, and these factors will raise the card's Power a little bit upon each victory.

I love strange mechanics, but I haven't put much thought into it, let alone playtested it. Plus, I'll have to come up with other attributes and miscellaneous parameters to make playtesting even functional.
It might be too much even for my own weird tastes.

Tokyo Nova uses poker cards, treating the card's value as a dice roll (numbered ones as-is, face cards as 10s, Aces as 11 or set result to 21, Joker as any card), linking the card suits to the four main attributes (Reason, Passion, Life, Mundane). and linking each Skill to one of the attributes (upgrading a skill lets you use an additional suit/attribute to use it). Everyone plays with a hand of 4 cards and must replenish to 4 whenever cards are used/discarded. If you don't have the right hand, you can risk a Blind Draw - get the right suit and you succeed, fail otherwise, Fumble if you draw a Face Card of any suit.

System also uses Tarot Cards, each one symbolizing one of the Classes/Styles. A Tarot Card is drawn at the start of each scene to loosely determine its mood and contents. Moreover, when you make a PC you designate one of your Style Tarots as being a Trump Card, which you gain at the start of each session alongside your Hand. You can spend your Trump Card whenever you want to transform the last card you used into a Joker, effectively giving you the best possible result. This also replaces the Scene Card with your Trump, pretty much meaning you've stolen the spotlight I know a lotta players who use this as an excuse to fire up whatever track they've picked as a character theme.
