BROS, I'm about to play my first game of Twilight Imperium, how do I not fuck up? From what I can tell, combat seems to be discouraged to an extent.
>>96437926Combat often doesn’t happen until the game gets pitched like 2/3rds of the way through, and it’s brutal. There isn’t much of a way to escape the savagery, but try to avoid things like your home planet being taken over (that will prevent you from being able to score points until you get it back) and keep an eye open for the way people who make big moves might be leaving their back door open.Don’t forget that the point of the game is to collect victory points. Don’t let anyone collect too many at the beginning of the game by parking on mecatol rex (big planet at the middle of the board) and then using the Imperial strategic action.
>>96439065Also have fun. You have a 1/6 chance of winning so you probably won’t. Make friends, carve out a little space on the game board, play your race. And I know it’s intimidating but don’t neglect technology. Read through the techs available to you and come up with a concise plan. Huge waste of your time and resources to get a bunch of techs that aren’t really going to work for you. Try not to forget about what techs you have once you get them (happens all the time).
