What's the weirdest race you've ever had a player play?
I once had an Awakened Ooze.

Public library campaign once had a known furry LARPing as his imp pet. Was the least obnoxious thing he did, maybe.

In recent years, 5e had some weird broken Undead-but-only-the-good-parts race, like some sort of watered-down Wesley Snipes, and I think that was the weirdest. Most of my group these days just plays PH classes for D&D, though often with some weird twist like Human but with traces of Dryad ancestry or a Dwarf cursed with molten golden blood (everyone keeps trying to bleed him for it, the party included).

In the past, I've seen weirder things, like a half-drow/half drider (3/4 drow, 1/4 Spider?), a parasitic hat that would control people's bodies, a minotaur, and about a dozen "I asked the DM and he said my Mary Sue race was okay and he looks and acts human but has half a dozen broken mechanical features I wanted" races, but I think we've largely outgrown that sort of thing.

I played as an Oakling warden in 4e. I miss the warden class but WoTC will never bring back the unique 4e classes because they're FUCKING CUNTS.

It's just the same 5 people playing with the occasional 2 different players from the same friend group who have time so we're all typically playing normal standard races
Weirdest thing any other player ever tried out was our DMs homebrew race of mannequins which were more or less a Warforged

A fat hairy dude wanted to RP as a loli fairy princess. Got pretty awkward fast.

You can kind of get some of that energy with select Druid spells. But even if Druids are pretty tanky, it's just not the Same; is it?
>>
>>96443014
Probably not the weirdest, but one of my friends played an awakened badger from the Redwall setting during our Curse of Strahd campaign.

Oh, same guy came back from a furry convention once and split the group for the session with a MLP themed pathfinder game he had bought, so that counts I think. Ultimately lead to regime change.

He sounds based ngl

I ran a Savage Species gestalt campaign. One side monster HD, one side PC class. Had a party of a Chaotic Good Succubus Crusader, Chaotic Neutral Minotaur Swordsage, Lawful Neutral Earth Elemental Druid, and a Neutral Good Hound Archon Ardent. The Succubus Crusader eventually turned into a Ghaele through a ritual. Good times.

Despite the furfaggotry (I didnt go into full detail) he was unironically one of the most normal people in the group.
>>

That actually sounds really fucking fun. I want to play in that party.

Four raccoons in a suit posing as a human.

If Warden was in 5e it would be a shitty subclass for druid or ranger. They don't let us have anything fun these days. Just the same boring shit.

A player made a slime made of healing potion (picrel the character art), obviously, he was the team's healer. Idk if it counts, but during the campaign stuff happened and he absorbed an accumulation of time magic and became a slime made of healing potion and time magic itsel, while existing simultanously as the "normal" present character and it's future self that became the god of time at some indeterminate point in the future.
