What's the weirdest race you've ever had a player play?
I once had an Awakened Ooze.
>>
>>96443014
Public library campaign once had a known furry LARPing as his imp pet. Was the least obnoxious thing he did, maybe.
>>
In recent years, 5e had some weird broken Undead-but-only-the-good-parts race, like some sort of watered-down Wesley Snipes, and I think that was the weirdest. Most of my group these days just plays PH classes for D&D, though often with some weird twist like Human but with traces of Dryad ancestry or a Dwarf cursed with molten golden blood (everyone keeps trying to bleed him for it, the party included).

In the past, I've seen weirder things, like a half-drow/half drider (3/4 drow, 1/4 Spider?), a parasitic hat that would control people's bodies, a minotaur, and about a dozen "I asked the DM and he said my Mary Sue race was okay and he looks and acts human but has half a dozen broken mechanical features I wanted" races, but I think we've largely outgrown that sort of thing.

I played as an Oakling warden in 4e. I miss the warden class but WoTC will never bring back the unique 4e classes because they're FUCKING CUNTS.
>>
>>96443014
It's just the same 5 people playing with the occasional 2 different players from the same friend group who have time so we're all typically playing normal standard races
Weirdest thing any other player ever tried out was our DMs homebrew race of mannequins which were more or less a Warforged
>>
A fat hairy dude wanted to RP as a loli fairy princess. Got pretty awkward fast.
>>
>>96443652
You can kind of get some of that energy with select Druid spells. But even if Druids are pretty tanky, it's just not the Same; is it?
>>
>>96443014
Probably not the weirdest, but one of my friends played an awakened badger from the Redwall setting during our Curse of Strahd campaign.
>>
>>96443184
Oh, same guy came back from a furry convention once and split the group for the session with a MLP themed pathfinder game he had bought, so that counts I think. Ultimately lead to regime change.
>>
>>96443821
He sounds based ngl

I ran a Savage Species gestalt campaign. One side monster HD, one side PC class. Had a party of a Chaotic Good Succubus Crusader, Chaotic Neutral Minotaur Swordsage, Lawful Neutral Earth Elemental Druid, and a Neutral Good Hound Archon Ardent. The Succubus Crusader eventually turned into a Ghaele through a ritual. Good times.
>>
>>96443829
Despite the furfaggotry (I didnt go into full detail) he was unironically one of the most normal people in the group.
>>
>>96443920
That actually sounds really fucking fun. I want to play in that party.
>>
>>96443014
Four raccoons in a suit posing as a human.
>>
>>96443766
If Warden was in 5e it would be a shitty subclass for druid or ranger. They don't let us have anything fun these days. Just the same boring shit.

A player made a slime made of healing potion (picrel the character art), obviously, he was the team's healer. Idk if it counts, but during the campaign stuff happened and he absorbed an accumulation of time magic and became a slime made of healing potion and time magic itsel, while existing simultanously as the "normal" present character and it's future self that became the god of time at some indeterminate point in the future.

A robot in Engine Heart. Completely standard in the game's terms but definitely most exotic in terms of roleplay.

>Industrial pipe cleaner/maintenance snake bot.
>Drill head and caustic to dissolve muck
>Basic metalworking capability
>Only one manipulator (the 'tail')
>Extreme coiling and compression/extension ability. Wraps around stuff in combat, abuses size bonuses and mimics outlines to confuse dumb bots.
>Good grasp of industry, fluid dynamics, chemistry. Complete idiot otherwise.
>Organics? You mean like ethanoic acid and methyl ethyl ketone? Why is that pile of residue moving and producing audio?
>Go-to ladder, bridge, extend-o-pole, rope
>Buddies with the party's hivemind computer. One of it's drones lives inside it to give directions for more complicated tasks.
>>
>>96443014
One day when our DM hadn't prepared anything for the session we had a goofy one-shot where we rolled a 6d20 in order for our stats, and our characters were a gull, a crab and an awakened pile of seaweed.
>>
>>96443014
Once had a chick at my table play a mind controlling worm swarm and the girl stuck as their host.

I've only run a couple games, but in my first one somebody played a Syrinx, which is an owl dude. He hooted sometimes and turned the Fighter into a dragon.
>>
>>96443014
I didn't know ooze was a race.
>>
>>96445855
Did the other party members have to suck his dick to get the healing juices?
Asking for a friend.
>>
>player’s barely disguised fetish
>>
>>96443652
>in before somedumbass says the oath of ancients Paladin covers the warden class concept of a "green knight"
>>
Is playing a fairy (male) gay?
>>
>>96447131
Depends on what he's into.
>>
>>96447062
Are you not familiar with the concept of monstrous races and monstrous PCs? Have you played anything that isn't 5e?
>>
>>96443014
I ran a GURPs game themed off of Seinfeld and Always Sunny, but set in Sigil. All the players were encouraged to play some kind of Outsider, so all the races were pretty weird by standard D&D metrics.
There was a washed up shitty indie musician Choral Angel, a artsy hippie sex pest Sidhe, a tyrannical middle manager (former) Demon Lord and a really shitty spam emailing con artist sprite fairy.
All the characters, PC or not, in that game were pretty weird and I liked just about all of them.
>>
>>96447500
uhhh
>>
>>96443014
isn't that just Odo from DS9?
>>
>>96448652
Personally the dudebro fairy who got mad that some human was gonna take his girl didn't seem very gay but if he gives you other urges I won't stop you from hoping.

Warforged is ok, but they have organic components.
I saw a template for Auto-Gnome that looked interesting, with good lore as to their creation.
But aren't the easiest automatons to build quadrupedal, like Big Dog?
Playing a game with no hands creates a lot of unique challenges.
>>
>>96447069
No. He was a child character FFS.

He healed us via applying slime on our wounds, like a poultice.
>>
>>96447131
Tinkerbell fairy or gnomes and spirits fairy
>>
>>96449790
>He was a child character FFS.
So he couldn't ejaculate, makes sense.
>>
>>96448761
Odo was a doppleganger/ooze
>>
>>96443014
A friend of mine (he was a very weird guy) was obsessed with playing "strange" characters. When we were playing as human infantrymen, he insisted on being a dwarf that goes to battle with nothing but brass knuckles. That was the beginning of it, and it kept escalating with each game. He would only play Vampire on the condition that he'd get to play a Samedi with the gargoyle discipline that would allow him to fly like Batman, thanks to skin folds on his armpits.
Last time I've interacted with him, he tried to play a werepouch jew. As in, a jew that transformed into a moneypouch. The DM vetoed the idea, but that guy really fought for it to happen.
Last character that I actually KNOW that he played was an awakened housecat Psion.
>>
>>96452280
right so an ooze that awakened
>>
>>96452470
Most oozes don’t have the ability to transform in the way Odo does. Even awakened ones. I’m not opposed to Odo being described as an awakened ooze but he has abilities an awakened black pudding just doesn’t.
>>
>>96447555
I'm familiar enough with the concept of taxonomy that I know an ooze and a dragon aren't just different races of a monster; they are different monsters entirely.
>>
>>96449790
>He healed us via applying slime on our wounds, like a poultice.
Oh, so he vigorously masturbated on them, got it.
>>
Gnoll soulspliced into a human postmortem. With additional memories to spice things up for max schizophrenia and mania and paranoia. Inflicting my character upon other players has been very fun. Aided by the fact I don't actually know the truth of my own backstory. I'm finding out as I go and uncover stuff.

Still ongoing. I'm convinced my character is also cursed.
>>
>>96452807
>I'm too retarded to read any book and see how the game defines "race".
Got it.
>>
>>96443014
I played in a group with a furry that played a giant blue dog (horse-sized, not Clifford-sized) that pissed acid.
