I heard a couple fa/tg/uys made a Hollow Knight TTRPG a few years ago: https://hkrpg-team.itch.io/hollow-knight-rpgSince Silksong is due to release in just a few days (Sept 4th) - and I remember the anon who mentioned this game said the devs were waiting on it before making any major updates - I figured it was a good time to ask: how is this system? And since it comes with its own more adventure-friendly setting (Oakshade) since the point of Hallownest is that it's dead and buried, how is it too?
Pros: >Fantastic character creation. Pick any bug - you could probably recreate them with this system. Genuinely cool selection that got me hyped to play.>cool artworkSimple but evocative>well writtenLayout's clean and readable, doesn't faff, plenty of optional lore and>great setting toolsEven if you don't play the full game I would recommend giving the kingdom creation rules a shot (separate file I think). Very fun stuffCons:>stinks a bit of 5eIt probably has enough differences that I'm glossing over, but I see grid-based d20 combat with action/reaction/move and just immediately tune out. If you can stomach that, it's a must
>>96444491System's good.Grab the pdf and enjoy, do not bother going to their server it's full of fags furries and niggs. Also the system can be broken very fast, so be careful when you're making certain combo of paths.>>96445760>stinks a bit of 5eThe fuck are you talking about ?The system has dice pool, doesn't roll d20 and is a fucking rocket tag battle where everything can die in 3 turns top.You haven't played it nogg
>>96444491>d20I didn't even need to look at anything except the preview images to tell you're wrong. It says D6s only right there.
Anyone have the map of Oakshade? Both links in pdf are dead
>>96446358Last page, it not a great map but I think it's the only one still visible.
>>96445787Maybe we're talking about different games. Or maybe the alzheimers is kicking in.
>>96445787>do not bother going to their server it's full of fags furries and niggs.Tale as old as Dicksword itself.
>>96444491The character creation is really the coolest part, but the actual combat itself is so... it drags, it's hard to describe exactly how. So many of the actions taken by characters will get completely nullified by counter/reaction rolls, many of my combats resolved with no change in the combat state at all whatsoever.
>>96452147Should've just made battlecon but with platforming
>>96448337I remember being so unreasonably, earth-shatteringly fuck-ass mad about this when I saw it because I had literally JUST made my own kingdom under the EXACT same name.Like, it was called Oakshade, there was a Great Tree, the royal district in the bows was called Canopy, and there was a bustling city running through the trunk called Heartwood-- but the surrounding regions and territory were like, vastly different.I'm a calmer person now and I can accept that "someone else did it first/too" doesn't mean either of us is unoriginal, as long as we each came to our idea organically and didn't just rip off someone else's.
>>96448766The other HK ttrpg you're thinking of doesn't come from here.>>96451465True enough>>96452147Battle can extremly fast or a slog that will take you 5 hours to resolve some very common battle. Also I heavily advise to scale down every fight and to not put too many actors (on either side) of the battle.Ranged attacks are also hella gay and magic is OP but that's ttrpgs for you.At least in this one you can have a beatle that jumps twice as high by default to reach backline on character creation, and every character has some sort of survivability by focusing Soul
>>96444491Wait, this whole time that game was made by /tg/?
