You know what time it is, post kino wh40k/AoS pics and games that just make you want to get down to the LGS and PLAY!
What a wonderful thread.
>>96448948
lmao. Moar.
>>96449177>>96448948These pics remind me of another point: 40k players don't want to play a wargame with armies. They want big machines/monsters and superheroes.
>>96449222You know the game is fucked when the rules have to force the players to take a minimum number of "troops" or else there would be zero infantry on the table
age of sigmar has pure kino too!
>>96449393Holy fuck this one is bad kek
Before I saw >>96449177 I always thought unpainted >>96449466 was the true cancer. Holy shit... I know 40k stopped being a wargame sometime after 6e, but what the fuck 40keks?
>>96449556It gets worse
>>96449364They got rid of this in the latest edition*. They aren't even pretending anymore. >buh-buh-buh infantry are weak! I need totally elite heroes and big tankz, or else.. or else I'll have too many casualties! I deserve it! My opponent should still give me lotz of targets, tho*10th. Imagine a game that needs a rules overhaul every 3 years.
>>96449599At this point why even use minis or """terrain"""? Just use those stupid cards and roll some dice or whatever.
>>96449393At least the armies are painted
>>96449599>>96449177Not only are these faggots using nothing but L-ruins; not only are they fucking CLEAR; not only are there dinner plates everywhere... they're using street mats and their "buildings" don't even fit the street plan. Stand-alone buildings in the middle of the road, no city blocks, just completely haphazard construction.40k players, get in here and defend yourselves, you subhumans.
>>96449648And here I thought a windowless wall was stupid. Lo and behold, the 40k competitive crowd keeps on pushing the envelope. What's next? Playing on screens with generated terrain? No, scratch that - that would be better than whatever the fuck >>96449599 is.
You can't make this shit up
>>96449843How much would total amount of actual terrain kits needed for all those tables cost and how much time would be needed to assemble and paint all of them?
>>96449857If anon's pic is the best they could manage, they shouldn't have held the event at all.Also->terrain kits neededGet this: people can make their own terrain.
>>96449843My first RTT was a similar experience. And I get that terrain is expensive, I really do. But if you are a fucking gaming club nowadays, there's literally no excuse for not buying a bambu and having it work 24/7 churning out decent quality terrain. Gesso + acrylic gets your terrain painted in 10 minutes.
>>96449880>people can make their own terrain. How is it fair for the tournament attendants if every table has different terrain?
>>96449843Me sitting on the back row with nothing but artillery tanks, You trying to push..
>>96449857The story behind this is that the organizers waited like two days prior to the event to start churning out terrain. The solution would have been to not be low IQ niggers and actually plan for the future so they didn't have to churn out last minute slop. Also, players can and should be required contribute terrain to the event. Look at any Mordheim event. Dozens of tables of masterfully built lovingly crafted thematic and immersive boards. Literally only in Warhammer 40k communities are players too lazy and low effort to make some shit themselves. Hell, look at the OP, it seems like 40 shitters can't even finish assembling their models before giving up
>>96449177Why?
>>96449912>How is it fair for the tournament attendants if every table has different terrain?Wargames are narrative experiences, not competitive ones. Here have some terrain from the TC boards at Nova this weekend
>>96449946That's less of a 40kek thing and more of a comp player thing. "I'm not assembling this model, as I'll probably sell it later and the balance patch is incoming"
>>96449912Waaah WAAAAHHH it's not FAIR!!!!!
>>96449912(I was assuming this post is a joke, but in case it isn't)>every table has different terrainSounds amazing, if there's a high enough standards. And what the other anon said: mini wargames are by nature not suited to fairness or competitive play.
>go into a porto-john>take a picture of the heap of shit inside>go home>post about how the huge heap of shit inside the porto-john is ruining bathrooms
>>96449957It's a tournament retard probably with an entry fee. If you're going to a tournament you're not there for a narrative experience.>hur dur there shouldn't be wargame tournaments!!But there are and the organizer has to meat some standards to make it a fair competition. You're sperging about something you clearly don't understand
>>96450016this wouldn't look too bad if the players didn't leave their cards and trinkets spilled all over the fucking table like baboons the table next to them looks way better though
>>96450099>It's a tournament retard probably with an entry fee. If you're going to a tournament you're not there for a narrative experience.>hur dur there shouldn't be wargame tournaments!!>But there are and the organizer has to meat some standards to make it a fair competition.>You're sperging about something you clearly don't understandAnon, I just showed proof that I had been in a tournament with a $40 entry fee in the last two days. I understand that perspective, it's just immaterial in what a war game is and what they're about. I'm now going to stop feeding the trolls because they're retarded and just looking for attention.
>>96450200I can't stand when people litter the play area with all their shit. Warhammer hogs are very notorious about this
>>96449843I liked the original of this post where the Infinity players were in the next hall taking the piss. >>96450016What's going on with the Bretonnians? Are they supposed to be Slaneesh corrupted or is the player just doing them in troon colors to make a statement?
>>96450099If you can't adapt to different terrain layouts (not bad, just different. Maybe bad too.) then I don't think you have the right to say you're actually good at the game.
>>96449857>Hold a concert >Charge people to attend the concert>Fail to organise any instruments or speaker systems for said concert>"BuT AnON, how much time and money would be needed to prepare and install all that audio equipment and sound check all of it?"
>>96450334the peasant unit has slaanesh whip bits so i presume they're going for slaanesh bretonnians, but it is a warhammer tournament so i wouldnt be surprised if it were the other case too
>>96449912>How is it fair for the tournament attendants if every table has different terrain?Literally just tell each contributor what size of footprint their piece of terrain should have, what theme the board is, and what kind of terrain it should be (e.g. low linear obstacle) and let the contributors make whatever they want within those guidelines, and then all the contributed terrain gets spread across all the tables. Like a terrain secret Santa. It's really not difficult, unless you can't see beyond the end of your own nose.
the peak of the wargaming hobby on full display!
>>96450460I would pack up my things and leave if I went to a tournament and this is the best they could come up with. It's straight up disrespectful to the players
>>96450417In this case the organiers did provide eveything needed to play the music, while you cry that the the violins are off-brand
>>96450648It's very odd for you to defend their low efforts. I wonder what you have to gain from simping for them
>>96450648>eveything needed to play the music
>>96450499God the soulgrinders look so fucking bad
>>96450648>Concert>In big concert hall>No instruments or sound system>"bUT aNoN the musicians were still able to play some music"Yeah because that sounds like a concert that people would pay money for and not expect a refund. At this point I'm going to assume you simply must be being disingenuous, because it's just not possible to be so oblivious to this issue otherwise.
>>96450648>the terrain is just off-brand bro
>>96450345rambling untethered from any understanding of game theory or strategy. unbalanced terrain decides games before they begin if your game has shooting worth a shit.
>>96451288Why aren't you playing chess instead, tourneyfag?- balanced- meant for pure competition- involves actual prestige (literally nobody on earth gives a shit if you're good at mini wargames; if anything, it only makes you look like a faggot)- no need for painting, modeling, creating terrain
>>96451370Because competitive chess actually requires intense mental focus, research and study, the ability to dress presentable, and a high IQ. All of these requirements essentially bar 40kucks from the game
>>96451534That can't be. I was informed they were all master tacticians. Surely that should translate?
>>96451711>Master tacticiansIndeed!
>>96451370because painting and modeling are fun
>>96449957I flip the dice to all 6's and table you on turn 1.What, mad? That's not fair? It's a narrative experience faggot, it's not meant to be fair, real wars are like this, and if you bitch again I'm going to stomp on your gay little plastic minis.
>>96451755Should ensure ultra-tight grouping in the impact zone. Impressive. Would estimate that player would have an ELO of at least 1700/1800, after the initial learning of the ropes.
>>96451765Tourneyfags can't paint for shit. They're the true "casuals."
>>96451765You can paint and model chess pieces and the boards if you want. What's the matter? Don't want to do it? Why not? It's so much more balanced and competitive dude!
>>96448948What is the reason they didn't bother fully assembling their knights?
>>96451808WAACfag wanted to counter his next opponents list so ran to the shelves and bought several knights and then hastily clipped them off the sprues and glued the bare minimum pieces together
>>96451798that sounds fun too
>>96451145>here's your instrument bro
>>96451288Doesn't the game let the guy going second decide which side he wants? They do that, right? Like you have a stratefic decision between striking first or having a more advantageous starting position? Like some kind of... game mechanic or tactical decision or something?>but what if the table was dogshit? There isn't a binary between unplayable shit and perfectly symmetrical prescribed slop? Cope.
>>96452141>If wuz mi first gitR, dnt ru iN it
>>96449912Its fair because the game is more interesting when it looks thematic. Tournaments have indirectly robbed 40k of fun. Its so difficult to find a match now due to "its not a tourney list."
ITT: Anons have difficulty comprehending storage logistics and the concept that people can enjoy the same thing differently.
>>96452381no we just think they are retarded fags for enjoying it
I didn't know ADB tried to an hero. Apparently been a while since, but not much in the way of updates. Hope the guy is okay.
>>96450955
>>96450016Whats with the ice cream sticks?
>>96449912This was the terrain we had in my third world country. If I recall correctly it was around 5th edition.Do not mind the cardboard drop pods, I made them the night before because I was a dumb kid and summited the meme list instead of the correct list, almost won though
>>96452381>storage logisticsA pair of connected flat panels on a rectangular base, fully painted weathered and flocked, takes up exactly the same space as a pair of connected wireframes on a plain MDF rectangle. Nothing to do with storage issues.
>>96449393This one would be basic but okay if not for the horrible objective markers
Anyone got some quality greytide to share?
As much as I love the game, the lore, the models, the best part of Warhammer™ is our community.
>>96448948So is the joke that everyone posts horror?
>>96465587>Giant blobs of dudes mashed together just advancing towards each other >Tanks "hiding," whilst infantry freely walk in the openTruly, a game for strategists and scholars
>>96460941You'd make a fortune if you set up a booth at this event selling hair loss pills
>>96465587if you have a few trillion troops ready to take their place infantry is more expendable than vehicles
>>96466155>trillions of troops>space Marines and necronsThat's true for neither of these armies
>>96466259Necrons could have trillions, we dont know.
>>96465269You think there's a joke here? This is just a frequently reposted troll thread.
>>96466155Worlds smartest 40k fan
He has been summoned
>>96466660Wearing his T-Sports jersey and all >>96466259>>96466613It's funny, when you point out something retarded about 40k they simply can't accept it in their brains, the immediately begin looking for excuses and coping. There is no reason why infantry happily march in the open and tanks hide behind cover, that makes no sense and defeats the entire purpose of tanks. But they try to rationalize it lmfao
>>96448948I know were all huffing each other fart's about how we don't play 40k and don't take part in how soulless it has become.>BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTWhat are some ways to fix the problems were laughing at? Read spoiler if you're brave: I printed and painted some 3D printed terrain, generic sci-fi gothic ruins that were even L shaped then donated them to the LGS. To this day they're still collecting dust while the unpainted MDF stuff is still being used constantly.
>>96466831It is simply a lost cause at this point and will never recover. I don't want to waste my evening outlining the problem, but simply put >GW as a company is no longer a collection of eccentric and passionate creative types, it's ran by talentless corporate minded millennials>the entire core of the game (the rules) encourages slop and discourages creative expression and hobbying>the community itself has attracted the absolute worst types of players in the entire tabletop wargaming hobby, and they are not leaving. Even if you "fixed" GW and the awful rules writing, you would have to forcibly evict all current players are replace them with something else for the game to be good again
>>96466831People will build a superiority complex out of anything they can to feel special. In this case it is by not playing the most popular wargame. Hipster mentality really. That said there’s lots of problems with 40k and 40k players and it must be pointed out and ruthlessly mocked to hopefully give them the reality check they need to be better wargamers and hobbyists.
>>96466933>core of the game (the rules) encourages slop and discourages creative expression and hobbyingwhat current rules exactly discurage creative expression and hobbying?
>>96467174Tournament play requiring gw Models only discourages a lot of customization of models with third party or bits from other manufacturers. That’s the first thing I can name off the top of my head.
>>96466121Post body
>>96466831The cause is primarily the players themselves who play this way and see no issue with it. In order to rid the hobby of this type of slop we'd need to shift the culture of the hobby entirely and shun soulless compfag games and players like this. The only other option is for GW to completely rewrite the 40k rules to be like Necromunda or Mordheim where the game is fundamentally opposed to competitive play and doesn't work in it at all since the randomness and scenarios can completely fuck even the most well thought strategy and list up the ass, or snowball an army out of control, to a much higher degree than 40k's dice rolls. This not only makes the game unappealing to compfags but also encourages things like houserules and a game master
>>96467174The warrior options from the henchmen squad of an Inquisitor from 3rd edition has more creative options than any modern codex. You get to choose up to 3 models that can be in any combination:>Combat Servitor>Gun Servitor>Crusader>Veteran Guardsmen with: flamer, grenade launcher, hellgun, hellpitol & close combat weapon, meltgun, plasma gun or shotgunThings like the acolyte henchmen has access to the armory so the random dudes can have access to pistols, combi weapons, melee weapons, power armor, carapace armor, bionics, etc. Then you have the inquisitor model itself and whatever transport itself that could also have all sort of dumb thing. The very process of list building encourage you to make your army and models unique, current list building, result in rather samy list. Since there is no reason to ever take suboptimal option.Like for example lets say the squad can have a guy with lasguns for 8 points, Bolters for 3 points per model, heavy bolter for 10 and a plasma canon for 20.A naked squad with just lasguns would cost 40 points. You add a heavy bolter and you have a nice 5 man squad with some range to threaten something and gun down some already dead squad. Maybe just make a squad bigger like 10 models with just bolters since the rest of your army has enough fire power. Or you have some points left and add some random dude and bulk this squad upIn 10th? The squad would cost 75 points and still come with just 5 guys with lasguns, but would give you the options to equipe them how you like for "free". At this point there is no reason to ever not give everyone a Bolter and add the plasma canon. You had some points left? Fat chance you can't add a random dude you can only buy 5 o 10 guys. The entire thing limits how you build your armyI've experience the mess of squad size for example a lot with Sisters of Battle they have gone from 5-10, 10-20, 5-15 and all kind of random of combinations and gear limitations.
>>96466933What are some things one can do to enjoy 40k but not be part of the problem?
>>96467515Play 4th with 3rd edition codex.Play NecromundaBuild cool dudes and armies.Build cool tables to play with said cool dudes and armies
>>96467457I would DRAIN your pipe
>>96460941>0 women>The only non-white dude is litteraly securityKek
>>96466660This thing was at nova last weekend holy shit
>>96468357The way you describe sounds amazing, too bad its all losers instead of normal dudes. When normal white men gather together without minorities and women - great things happen
Why are all the 40k tables just cardboard ruins ? Did all the factions agree to only to fight in cities now ?
>>96460941I finally understand why they shrank the battlefield. Its so you dont have to leave gaps for players to walk around so they can cram in in the trournies like sardines.
>>96454550The new location better have good terrain.
>>96468509>its all losersonly half of them
>>96468752The game is explicitly designed to only work in symmetrical grids of haphazardly designed ruined city blocks where each buildings has been half leveled into an L shape of varying heights. The game is about fighting for the 3 main “lanes” and your home base, represented by giant circular objectives. Units are no longer customizable beyond your sub faction choice, forced theme lists like the late warmachine.
>>96460941>get hobby and go to a club you'll find a girlfriend in no time
>>96470804>cooking classes, nothing but men>reading club, nothing but men>dancing classes, nothing but men>nitting classes, nothing but men>bar, finally some women. Nop... at least half of them are men and the other half are twice the size of menI'm not even asking much just something for someone who does not have their own moons.Do women just spend their entire day doomscrolling and watching Korean dramas?
>>96460941Big pet-peeve of mine: too much fucking shit on the tables. I don't want your datacards, rulebooks, dice tray, dice pouch, vape pen, and pile of random assorted dice strewn all over my table. It totally spoils what little immersion is left.
>>96467565Better yet is there a current non-GW game I could play instead?
>>96470581kek
As a non-wargamer, can someone explain the clear walls to me? What purpose do they serve? Is it some gamplay reason?
>>96471406They're used for terrain/cover in game. Someone made these clear versions so that you and your opponent can see each others models at all times so that they don't lose track/forget
>>96466660fuck you nigger faggot
>>9647140640k isn't played by actual gamers any more, it's the realm of sweatlards and e sport rejects.
>>96471253Xenos rampant, it should map to most 40k models quite nicely, and the scale excludes superheavies, knights, fliers and other silliness.
>>96471406Cheating is so rampant in this kind of events that some organizers started to use this clear walls to prevent some of the "nuh uh my guys where not there" kind of arguments.40k tournaments attract the worst kind of people
>>96449364They got rid of that rule which is a big reason why 40k tables look awful these days
>>96471253What is this question? Yes, there are dozens of wargames. Are they played in your area? Who knows, you gotta find out yourself. Ask at local game stores, check online for groups.
>>96472663Oh autist-kun, your inability to read a simple question is adorable. I'm not asking if other wargames exist outside of GW's stuff, I'm asking what non-gw games capture the spirit of what the other anon was suggesting.
