>>96453718I use some monsters from ArchonStudio for one-off creatures, like giants, dragons, messed up Mordheim ogres and such.Otherwise I just take from GW other ranges and specialist games.
>>96453874Going by your pic, you're not proxying anything. You're using first party sculpts as the thing they were intended to represent (beastmen as beastmen, in your case).
>>96453874They look so much better in that scheme than the bright blue cartoon colours
>>96453718Forgot to answer>TQ: What is your favorite proxy mini maker?Monstrous encounters. If he made minis for each army I'd probably use his stuff almost exclusively. Highlands miniatures for sheer range coverage. Vae Victis miniatures for modular sets with good proportions. Thanks to the anon last thread who reminded me about Jota for squigs, they are indeed good ones. I'm using Jota's black orcs already, as it happens.
I believe that the tomb kings and wood elves will receive an update on all their miniatures in the near future, because I think it is simple they do not exist in AoS let me explain the high elves and vampire counts are not in the old world because a faction very similar to them already exists in AoS on the other hand we have the empire and bretonnia that will not receive an update of their miniatures for the same reason in AoS there is a faction similar to them empire and cities of sigmar and bretonnia and flesh-eating courts, for which the tomb kings and wood elves will be updated because they have no counterpart in AoS.
>>96454355
>>96454355wood elves don't need updates, their range is fine, even the 6th ed models.
>>96453922Yeah, I don't have many that are on square bases or aren't heavily kitbashed. So, here is a wizard.>>96453940Thanks!
>>96454377Why that face, my friend? What bothered you? Is it because I compared the Bretonnians and the flesh-eating courts as equals? Well, I'm sorry, but it's not my fault that the unstoppable and powerful hordes of ghouls and cannibal vampires compare them to the dirty, smelly, stupid, useless Bretonnian knights.
>>96454355If you count cities and ghouls as similar to empire and brets than surely you can compare tomb kings to ossiarch, and especially wood elves to sylvaneth? The only faction with 0 equivalent to aos is beastmen.
>>96454760The Ossiarch are based more on the samurai than on the Egyptians. The Sylvanet are only dryads and treemen, and the beastmen did have their counterpart in Aos. They were called beastmen of chaos. They were practically the same as the beastmen, only adding chaos to the end of their names.
>>96454807They were actually called "beasts" of chaos and included dragon ogres in addition to beastmen
>>96454355>high elves and vampire counts are not in the old world
Imagine they add sea elves from AoS to Old World a sa new army. How would you react?
>>96454943doesn't really fit, the Sea Guard list is about as close as we will get to a full Sea Elf list in TOW
>>96454943Cathy shit clearly shows they gave up on the lore, so they might as well port Horus Heresy models
>>96454969>might as well port Horus Heresy modelsReintroducing powerswords, boltguns and other "technological gifts" of chaos to fantasy would unironically be better than Cathay or retarded fish-elves
>>96454943ehI already have my extensive headcanons sorted, whatever they do to the canon is beyond my cares
>>96454911Show me the VC AJ
>>96454807Ossiarch still have some pretty clear fantasy egypt influences, as seen by their cartouches. Sylvaneth also have half elf bodies. They're both distinct from their fantasy counterparts, but again so are cities and ghouls (even more so I would argue). I know about beasts, that's what makes it so ironic.>>96454943Would be based
Something for wood elves or high elves?
>>96455302AoS
>>96455212what if I show you the high elves one, retard
>Ogors rumored to be getting a refresh in AoS>Ogres received a refresher course of their lore in the Cathay JournalMy delusions will not be quenched
>>96455302>>96455340Judging by how thick the edge highlights are, it's probably some mesbg thing. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be a wh model, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
>>96455302MESBG
>>96455302probably AoS
>>96455302looks almost exactly like the arrowtip in picrel (topleft), probably aos wood elves.>>96455445recent tga rumour seems to suggest all pre-8th edition stuff getting either refreshed or squatted
>>96455212"vampire counts are not in the old world" is not the same thing as "vampire counts don't have an arcane journal".
>>96455579I don't think that ever gets rumor engines
>>96455600wood mechs look so fucking badaos design is so fucking soulless
>second Cathay Journal with no BattlemonksI suppose the models I have will just be painting projects after all….(Is an all Goblin army doable in TOW? Night Goblins seem like fun)
>>96456135>so fucking soullessSo it fits in with wood elves
>>96456160No but it fits with whatever soulless copyrighted name they gave to the wood elves in aos.
>>96456136the Cathay Monks did at least get mentioned in the new AJ.Yeah a Night Goblin army works well enough in TOW but I'm not sure how much that has changed since the change in rules last month
>>96455600>all pre-8th edition stuffexcept gnoblars, weirdly enough
>>96456287Gnoblars are free if with the Leadbelcher/Ironguts/Glutton kit, if they’re updating/squatting them, then people will actually have to pay for Gnoblars.
>>96456315Gnoblars are an actual kit, anonAnd the rumor in question didn't say they would go away or get updated, unlike all other stuff that got directly mentioned
>>96456400My j-joke didn’t land…..
>>96456425To be honest with you, at the third slash I stopped reading.
The empire needs mechs.
>>96456769this is not the thread for you
>>96456793Like a magical golem.
>>96456769No the empire is the boring human faction you can only get uh…cool wizards at best.
>>96456823Oh, then the empire* already has that*of grand cathay
>>96456769steampunk mechs.
>>96457186OPR has a range for you
>>96457401
>>96457186RoL > RoN
How do your dudes deal with their local beastmen tribes? Are they nothing more than a nuisance, a growing threat, or does your guys try and stay under the radar of their cloven overlords?
Do any of you play OPR alongside/instead of WHFB/TOW?
>>96457431Those look neat, , though I wish GW did it themselves.>>96457494Definitely. Legends was so good, and desperately needs more attention (and be brought to Steam/GOG).
>>96457540The ruleset I mean, not specifically using their proxies
>>96457540I do, yeah. I enjoy Age of Fantasy Regiments.
>>96457526In the off chance he runs into beastmen, Korgoth challenges their chieftain to a duel to the death.
uhoh, lots of drama with the WTC schizos.
>>96458722who?
>>96458722What drama now?
>>96458750>>96458779Belgians submited an Errantry crusade "list" as they call it and didn't pick Crusaders vow, now there is drama about them wanting to change it.Team germany lost a captain after a 1 year powerstruggle with 9th age players. Appearantly the guy who runs the WTC is an IRL lawyer and literaly trademarked the event for himself so he always gets the last say on stuff.Captcha: NAGAY
>>964588209th age players are hilarious, remember when they got banned from GenCon after they went around smashing Age of sigmar displays?
>>96457540>>96458534It's a fun little game, but the lack of morale rules, charge reactions and stuff like that makes it feel lacking. A rank and flank wargame needs a bit more meat to its bones than what OPR does at the moment. I don't also expect many improvements in the near future as that's their least played game.
>>96458845ain't no way LOL
>>96458820>Belgians submited an Errantry crusade "list" as they call it and didn't pick Crusaders vow, now there is drama about them wanting to change it.If the event hasn't started, what's the issue? >Team germany lost a captain after a 1 year powerstruggle with 9th age players.I can only imagine. Ran into groups from my countries team. While 3/4 were good lads, one guy was a snobby bastard. Wonder what power struggle went on. >Appearantly the guy who runs the WTC is an IRL lawyer and literaly trademarked the event for himself so he always gets the last say on stuff.Doubtful. Its unlikely a lawyer would have time to engage in warhammer events, let alome organise, unless his business tanked or he is filthy rich.
>>96458876But OPR has all of those? Were you using the basic rules, Anon?
>>96458549>The two generals duel all night and come morning they're best of friends
>>96458918>If the event hasn't started, what's the issue? What isn't the issue? If they allow people to change lists like that then every team will just want to look at what the other team is bringing and try to build counters against them. Having a set date to submit your list and live with the consequences is the most unbiased and pure way to do it.
Saw this linked the previous thread, I'm interested in starting an army of Dwarfs or Orcs and Goblins, do you anons think this is a good start for playing. Imo seems better than the batallion boxes and much cheaper. Hell would buying 2X of either be a good idea, lots of core stuff on it's own. Maybe I could paint or find some cheap bits to kitbash warriors into ironbreakers + give em a different paintjob etc..https://maxminishop.com/collections/army-deals/products/dwarf-armyhttps://maxminishop.com/collections/army-deals/products/orc-armyA bit more pricier, but lots of gobbos:https://maxminishop.com/collections/army-deals/products/goblin-armyIf you anons know any other good proxy deals or better ones for Dwarfs and Orcs I'd appreciate it if you could share.
Is it just me, or TOW actually sucks? It's brittle, not that punchy, it's special rules weak just enough so they won't do too much and you have to pay for a cone attack that seems kinda useful? Heard they can be good for sniping monsters, any opinions? P4a, I'd like to get one but what's the point if it sucks?
>>96459014Which of the optional rules would you recommend for each of those?
>>96459313TOW or the COCK?
>>96459313COCK!
>>96459334COCK in TOW
Theoretically can I make a decent high elf list with this, how would it play?>noble on griffon>2 mages>banner noble and horse noble>about 60 Seaguard>about 15 sword masters>15 reaversI figured I could play it as a force that steadily advances forward just peppering the enemy with arrows. A big brick of Seaguard with the +1 strength banner would be a big scary brick of strength 4 ranged fire. The reavers can harass flanks while the sword masters snd griffon can act as counter punch?
>>96458918I am have at least 2 financial lawyers in my local ToW scene.
>>96459610I don't know, can you?https://old-world-builder.com/
>>96458918>Its unlikely a lawyer would have time to engage in warhammer eventsI'm a med student and I'm slowly putting my army together. It's not hard to find the time if you put down the sissy hypno rectangle once in a while, but it might be slow going.
>>96453718I don't think I even agree with the idea of proxies. If I've got a knight/goblin/troll/giant/skeleton mini it doesn't stop being a knight/goblin/troll/giant/skeleton just because it's not a Games Workshop official knight/goblin/troll/giant/skeleton.
>>96458918>Its unlikely a lawyer would have time to engage in warhammer events, let alome organiseWhat exactly, do you think lawyers do? Little is stopping an established lawyer from working 10 hours a week or even less.
>>96458918>Its unlikely a lawyer would have time to engage in warhammer events, let alome organiseI used to go to networking meetings with a local lawyer who was into warhammer and ended up helping one of the big warhammer YouTubers draw up contracts for some big titan he purchased or hired for a video or something. I can't remember the details, it was getting on for 8+ years ago now. That lawyer is now a KC (king's counsel, UK senior lawyer) and posts pictures of his minis on social media. Sure he's not a golden demon winner but he still finds time to hobby.
>>96459220Hopefully this helps, thoughts on each: - the dwarf army has plenty of useable units and the minis look fun to paint. Overall it has everything for a decent starter army imo. However it does have 3 cannons which is a bit overkill, if not outright illegal, I can't remember. - the orc army has 20 crossbows which iirc are not a unit choice in TOW. Then you have 20 spears alongside 20 hand weapons alongside 20 savage orcs. All very similar units, I would have liked to see something else in place of maybe the spears like black orcs or a chariot. I think you might be adding units to your army fairly soon if you buy this box. Also the aesthetics of this box aren't the best imo, especially the trolls which look like they have weird proportions, but I know that's personal preference. - the goblin box *looks* like a big army but again there's quite a lot of overlap or units that don't map to TOW. You have 20 netters and clubbers, but in TOW netters are just an upgrade to regular night goblins, so you only really need a couple of them to show that the unit has nets. I don't think clubbers are in tow at all, but they're in 4th edition if you're planning on playing older editions. Then the knives and the axes would both count as hand weapons, so although they're 2 separate units in the box they'd be the same battlefield role in TOW. Same for the 10 wolf riders and 10 wolf archers, nobody's going to care if your wolf riders have bows on the model or not, so you have 20 wolf riders which is quite a lot, possibly more than you'll ever take in a battle. Same with 3 wolf chariots. The trolls in this set look like better sculpts then the orc ones. So if it was up to me, out of these boxes I'd probably get the dwarf one and maybe convert 2 cannons into a bolt thrower and a flame cannon maybe. All 3 boxes are a great price for the amount you get though.Alternatively you can go on Etsy and find 3d prints of loads of different ranges.
>>96459610Is 60 sea guard legal? Either way I feel like such a big brick wouldn't be very manoeuvrable, and especially with objectives you might find yourself with too little board control. For straightforward battles though it does sound like a fun concept.
