I've heard of ChatGPT DMing. But has anyone ever ran a game for ChatGPT?
Yes, I've done it when I needed to brainstorm a story for my campaign and basically played CYOA with ChatGPT to make sure everything makes sense. It's not a particularly interesting experience, because ChatGPT has a limited memory and loves to hallucinate.
>>96468188>ChatGPT has a limited memory and loves to hallucinate. So you're saying it's a decent approximation of the playerbase?
>>96468215Even the worst players tend to generally have the memory of what happened during the session. And while they might forget characters or confuse them with each other, they typically don't invent NPCs and plots from nothing.
Kinda weird when it tries to flirt with the BBEGs but I like to run him through dungeons now and again to test them for a west marches game.
>>96468124>>96468188>>96468336How do you even do it? I barely ever use ChatGPT and I've never DMed before, I don't even know how I'd start
I just asked chatGPT to DM for me, just out of curiosity, and it literally just gives me the plot of the video game Dragons Crown as the "epic quest hook" lmfao
>>96468561What did you expect? Generative AI can only steal, the only shocking thing is that it's stealing so brazenly here.It has a very limited pool (it is allowed from) to steal from too. When I was bored I was trying to get it to generate a political drama about a revolution. I've tried it over and over again, with different prompts and frameworks, and it consistently tried to tell the same story - even defying my prompts to pigeonhole characters into the approved tropes.
>>96468336>Kinda weird when it tries to flirt with the BBEGsThe players or chatGPT? Both are equally likely, with odds going up player-side the more similar their character gets to being a D&D bard.
>>96468745when you get chatgpt to play as a bard it can get pretty rapey
>>96468771After seeing how IRL female gamers get? ChatGPT is tame.
I've trained a local LLM on my own homebrew before to play a game, but the juice wasn't really worth the squeeze. I've killed a lot of time in AI Dungeon in the past too.
>>96468124It doesn't quite work, ChatGPT is trained on curated data set, making it way too polite and non-agressive to make believeable approximation of a player. It can't go genocial, hell you'd struggle to make it act even mildly racist. You'd need your own neural net (LLM) trained on either unfilterd internet input (sort of like Tay.AI was, but Tay lacked power to process chunks of data bigger than a tweet) or something trained on large quantity of gameplay transcipts.>>96469412How much time and computation power did it take to set up and trained (approximately)?
>>96468124A worthless bait thread died for this question and somehow it was still a relative loss.
>>96468535Anon...You just start running a game.
