Palladium Games and Rifts General! /PGaRG/

The world is a broken, post-apocalyptic wasteland destroyed by the eruption of inter-dimensional portals, rifts in the fabric of space-time and ley lines which crisscross the world. Demon & alien invaders have poured out of the rifts to destroy human civilization and claim the Earth. Now the wasteland has had 300 years to partially recover, and civilization has returned to the world; but not just human civilization: alien empires, monster kingdoms, lost time travellers, lands of mutants, demonic overlords and wizards have arisen from the ashes, all trying to rebuild the world in their own image!

RIFTS! The science fantasy world of post-apoc cyborgs, wizards, dragons, ninjas, giant mecha, super-nazis, robot ninjas, vampires, underwater kingdoms, remnant human supertech civilizations and everything you can imagine all rolled into one setting where interdimensional RIFTS have pierced Earth's fabric and turned it into a playground for aliens and monsters!

Plus other Palladium Games about superheroes, zombies, classic fantasy, supernaturals investigation and more.

Should there be a core rulebook for Palladium with just the rules and no setting info, as a universal reference for every game line?

I've only briefly played Palladium games, and the system struck me as clunky as hell, but something about the insanity of Rifts has always been appealing to me. Unfortunately it's hard to really convey this in an appealing way to the uninitiated.
How do you do it?
>>
>>96492861
>How do you do it?
1. Convince them to disregard any preconceived notion about the system, whatever they've read is wrong
2. If they're mechanically oriented give them a combat rundown of a SAMAS Vs. Glitter Boy scenario starting at 3km
3. If they're roleplay/social oriented explain the CS Dog Boy and ISS-Citizen dynamic.

Well you're right, the system IS clunky as hell, but the best way to introduce people is to show them the world (preferably Rifts Earth, but Splicers or Heroes Unlimited is good too) and let them make characters. When they see how many cool options there are to play they'll get invested.

The system... use it sparingly and ignore large chunks of it for best effect.

I HATE the savage rifts interpretation of Juicers. The expressions look like poser art that was traced over and they do not have their juicer harnesses displayed. They are just assholes in normal armor with mohawks.

Juicers should be wearing bare armor, proudly showing that they are being drip fed every drug known to man and some that are unknown.
>>
>>96486950
Alright rifts bros. My party is all godlings and demigods hybrid classes except me and an anti-monster. The GM is asking if I'm feeling alright being a normal human leyline walker. Personally, I think that being a LLW means that I'm getting as powerful as them with every level but what do you guys think? Is a LLW able to scale up to high power games?

>Juicers should be wearing bare armor, proudly showing that they are being drip fed every drug known to man and some that are unknown.

>>
>>96518529
Borgs should look ludicrously overpowered as well.

MEGA-POWER!!!
>>
>>96513985
Doubtful a LLW would ever reach a Demigod's power level unless your GM gave you access to all spells and let you cheese the interpretations of some of them. You can stack some combos from rare spells that are overpowered as Dyval.
>>
>>96518554
I didn't like how they tried to push the kinda vampire skull face as the iconic combat cyborg design. Really, I dont know how the path of the cyborg goes in Rifts. Like, what's the essential books for that?

I keep looking at the cyberknight and I just can't see how this is high powered at all. Like, it's like a juicer, a psychic, and has some rather janky armor. It doesn't seem like it can walk into a room full of equipped man at arms and walk out in one piece.

Cyber-knight isn't high-powered, it's mid at best. This has been a debate among fans of the game since the 1990s and has never been corrected. We had this debate a few threads back, and the consensus was that CKs definitely need some powering-up to be on par with other major combat OCCs. Their psi-swords and armor needs to scale up more and their psi powers need to work against demons, undead and monsters and not just "electronics".

Somebody here had a rework of the CK, if only I could find it...

Not sure what you mean by this, the power is listed in the OCC write out.
>>
>>96539310
Kek. NTA but no, their secret superpower is Reputation, as trustworthy, good knights of human resurgence and anti-evil power. In the lore, notice how this compares to how mages, psychics, juicers, crazies and d-bees are treated in most communities. Palladium does not have mechanics for reputation but cyber-knights are paragons of virtue like no other class or race.

A llw versus a dimiegod....really depends on the class of the dimiegod, over all youll be similar again depending on your race

But a godling? A godling caster takes 2 caster classes, so shifter +warlock, or temporal wizard+ necromancer...ect.
The power dynamic of a llw is dwarfed by a godling caster, unless your llw's race is very powerful or utility filled. If its a godling combat class non magical an anti-monster is pretty close in power range.

is the Blood War, err, I mean the Minion War metaplot over yet?

What should the next big metaplot be? I vote for the Vampire Intelligences making their move in a coordinated fashion. Vampire Kingdoms invading North America, secret vampires assassinating and taking over key positions in the NGR and CS, and maybe taking down Lazlo cause those goodie-two-shoes are weak and too trusting.
>>
>>96539324
I was poking fun at that cyberknights seem to be connected to every major organization but aren't that strong in combat as their reputation makes them sound. So being a part of the elite order that is in every major group outside of the CS or maybe Canada.

So they have the power of nepotism. You want to slap Erin Tarn's fat granny ass you can give uncle Thomm a call and do the secret cyberknight handshake and there you go!

>>96542915
I agreed. Im surprised Kev never reconnect that in.
>>
>>96548201
What was the minion war, anyway? I mean I get why it happened and what caused it but as I understand it in execution it was just a campaign based around the paranoia that any random person could suddenly become a demon person.

What other dimensions have anons travelled to in their games? Is rifting a regular or rare occurence for you?
>>
>>96554485
I tend not to if im gm'ing unless it's the whole premise of the campaign. It basically removes the storyline you wrote as its not on this plane of existence. Players tend to forget why they should care about the barron was torturing the tows folk when he's nonexistent where they are.
I have done Wormwood a few times but Wormwood characters loose their symbionic powers, their stones loose out, in like 2 days away from Wormwood.
An apoc becomes a moody dude with a sword instead of a combat monster on earth.
>>
>>96555047
Those are good points but it is possible to plan an adventure around multiple dimensions with the NPCs/villains/enemy forces also traversing dimensions through rifts. Maybe different rifts, or they also have a Shifter or LLW who works for them.

It does derail an existing campaign but that can be fun (for a short period of time) and shake things up in a game that's gotten stale or predictable or when the PCs are stumped or out of options.

I've had PCs pop into Wormwood, Eyelor, a synaesthesia universe, a Nighspawn dark place, the Plane of Earth, and rift to random locations in Africa, the Gargoyle Empire, Lone Star, Dinosaur Swamp, the Library of Bletherad, and more.

I've been thinking a lot about Lazlo and what would be in it's own book. I think new spells probably would be expected but I don't know what they would be. I think they would likely have a TW robot force that is reconstructed scrap power armors like a cross between New West TW power armors and Federation of Magic constructs or the Iron Giants from Tolkien.

If I was writing I would have a horrible secret involving the government officially not condoning necromancy that uses sentient creature corpses but using something that runs on human souls, like a percentage of their defense force is animated wood puppets running on human souls.

The political bits would be complicated as they already established there are several different parties ranging from Warhawks to peaceniks to human supremist parties, to a dragon supremist party. And of more militant and aggressive New Lazlo wanting to punish the CS which I think is a thing you could write how they are being secretly supported by some Lazlo factions that want to kill skullboys with deniability.

Those are from that Rifter article about Lazlo, aren't they? I doubt they used that as the baseline, it's probably non-canon.

But it would make sense to have different political factions with secret agendas and sometimes even illegal militias or plots to "Get those bad guys". Otherwise Lazlo ends up too boring. Even the Rifts: Promise of Power video game had to spice things up in Lazlo with the Cabal.

More on that the evil factions, Lazlo does have the church fo Dragonwright which is the same as the one in Atlantis. The dragon supremist faction wants to not acknowledge their connection to atlantis on account of a large amount Atlantis escapees in Lazlo. So you would have this complicated relationship with dragons being both having tried to destroy Lazlo but alo saved Lazlo and now help run lazlo but also wants to take over lazlo.

>>
>>96579044
True. I'll ruin it by posting more.
Here I have what I think the Lazlo grunt is equipped with. Unlike the CS and Canuckistan, Lazlo doesn't produce normal arms but a lot of TW items. So troops are equipped with bulk purchased NG armor and arms with heavy encouragement to bring your own equipment if it's better than the GI.

Troops are, however, issued an animated TW construct for combat and logistical support and TW items to supplement their MOS. The idea is that since Lazlo couldn't support their troops like the CS factions they would support them in ways the CS couldn't as in every soldier having a dedicated servant.

Lastly the gay color patterns. I imagine the armor will be whatever they can find but the colors of Lazlo will likely be the most colorful and loudest emblems purely because they are a multicultural society to the most extreme sense and the ugliest option would be the only thing they would agree on, thus every Lazlo defender has a strip louder than a gunshot and fabulous.
>>
>>96579546
Here we have a veteran in crusader armor. A better example of the Lazlo Stripes.

As explained in the rifters, there are a lot of non magical humans in the Lazlo military alot of which were veterans, defectors, or refugees from other militaries. Joining the defense forces help some vets cope with the cultural shock of joining a society where DBees aren't shot on sight and the government wanting their input and at no point sending them to jail forever.
>>
I think a cool campaign idea to use for a more malignant Great House in Splicers is that they have a few unique "Loadouts" of Host Armor (They can be built like a normal suit, but they come with some stuff baked in) that they can Field in much larger numbers than one would expect, but they also never use Biotics.
I think you can guess exactly what they're doing.

So, what is the situation there? Is the librarian have such a large population of humans or has a large prisoner population that he has to make them into host armors? Because host armors need a pilot.

If he just needed soldiers the Librarian could just put out gorehounds, who are pound off pound as strong as a biotic.

Personally I always assumed it's because of a cross between cultural influence of paladium fantasy and that many gods of magic are from eastern based cultures and that MDC class materials are not easy to tailor or are often found in scraps.

Keep in mind LLWs wear -natural- MDC material. That means that we are talking on SDC worlds they are 100x SDC. So we are talking like mutant spider silk that literally could stop a truck at full speed. dragon scales when that dragon eats nothing but steel. The one spot of skin on a hyborean boar's ass that can stop a 50mm bullet. None of this stuff is coming in strips that you can cut pants out of, so it's going to be in strips and sewn together with more superthread from killer zombie lambs from that dimension where New Zealand took over the world. You dye it the same colors and bust out the bedazzle gun so your outfit doesn't look like something between leather face and a pajama frankenstein.

At least that's my take.

>superthread from killer zombie lambs from that dimension where New Zealand took over the world
I think I understand the reference. Your explanation is good, I like it. It's piecemeal armor made from MDC pieces of natural animals/plants/thing found in different dimensions and worlds.
>>
>>96597875
IIRC a lot of their weapons are miniaturised so perfect for stealth/ninja missions, like getting into Chi-Town core without being flagged. The Naruni also have links to the Genesplicers who have all kinds of weird mutant-genetic shit.
>>
>>96615709
Its not so much of dumpster diving as it is lifehacks. You could make a suit of all natural MDC armor out of dinosaur hide but it both would have less MDC comparable to its weight and comes with a penalty because of its hardness and bulk.

LLW armor is the best bits all sewn together from several sources. Although, it does make you wonder how much that costs off the rack.

Are dragons big players in the Rifts world? I got the distinct impression that they're not, they're just kind of hanging around doing low-level stuff and have representation on Atlantis but not big empire, kingdom or power base of any kind. >>
>>96618629
The MDC wood spell takes away a lot of the worry for MDC protection in my opinion. You can shape wood pretty easily, maybe even easier than manufactured MDC materials & with the right magic magic its even better.

The real reason LLW are all mismatched & weird is simply becomes looking like a bug/demon/monster is safer. Its like hazard stripes or a spiked leather jacket. It looks cool & dangerous & makes the other guy hesitate. Also when youre going into weird dimensions you might want full body coverage against stuff that can melt your face

Thinking about it, dragons are the other to cyberknights. They formed and run Lazlo, they are in Atlantis, the are in Phaseworld, but they all hate eachother and are not organized. Still, they are somewhere in the background of every mystic or alien organization in the megaverse. No never-ending they have humanoid sub species (allegedly).

It is pretty noteworthy that Rifts earth is where they have the most collectly organized foothold with the Dragonwright Church.

>>
>>96637937
They're all a bunch of unfrozen Boomers from Golden Age America. There's no way they'd sanction mages except in secret, unacknowledged spec ops units. They want the old American Empire back, not some magical disneyland with froo-froo magic users and demon-summoning lunatics.

Also, they'd as old as your grandpa and probably don't even know which button to push to cast a spell. All they would get on their scrying orbs would be FoxGirl News.

No, they are the secret kingmaker of humanity. Their the ones who gave GB tech to the Canucks, their the ones who merced Dunscon's dad & let papa Prosek take the credit. They founded the CS & when they did, they were okay with the mage corps. Im not saying they'd be okay with demons & D-Bees & shit, but very sterile very guarded allowance of mages much like the Psychics of the CS would be fine with them
>>
>>96638319
Bah, I hate "secret society responsible for everthing that happened, ever" metaplots. Far better to play the Republicans as bumbling bureaucrats from 2089 AD Department of Cloning & Lunar Transportation who just happened to inherit a couple hundred security power armors and are all that remains of the Washington DC establishment after the Coming of the Rifts. How do you guys solve the "party bus is just as weak as their individual armor" problem? Most vehicles range in defense from heavy armor to midrange power armor, if your shit gets ambushed its not uncommon for your vehicle to be fucked, which might hold a whole lot of your personal wealth, ammo, vulnerable NPCs, etc. Youre party bus is usually slower than personal transport which can outrun it meaning you cant just break away & run.

Honestly? I wouldnt mind if the whole organization got written out. Like 99% of CyberKnights got killed closing a Hellmouth in an honorable & badass sacrifice. The guy behind the CyberKnights is an asshole who isnt with the company anymore, & the class is already kinda fucked up & flawed. Even with the schism & new rules during the SoT books. If you must keep them. Then here's what I would do.

The current cyberknight would be treated like the "grunt" equivalent. Then id make a slightly stronger version called a CK-Crusader or some shit, who gets the special CS Anti-Demon psychic powers & is generally more of a badass mechanically. Then there would be a CK Mech-Pilot whose cyber mantle keys into Power Armor & let's them do cool shit. Then we would get CK Luddites/Mystics whatever who lean into the anti-tech powers more as well as psychic knights who are like the CK Crusader but without the cyber stuff, replaced with more antitech.

Basically formalize the schism, have two completely different creeds, & add more OCCs that punch up with idea of the CKs mechanically & add some variety & new ways of doing stuff. The CKs not having the CS antidemon powers is hilarious so i think i should be fixed. More OCCs with different focuses. Medic CKs. Vehicle driving CKs, etc.

I think they should maybe have soft MOS stuff in not fully separate OCCs each named "Order of the [Insert Name Here]"

Order of the Chariot could be vehicle focused
Order of the Mantle could be the PA interface linked pilots
Order of the Millenium Tree would be healers & medics
Order of the Sword would be the generic CK
Order of the Fiery Heart could be the demonslayers, etc

Are there like support classes for cyberknights? Like cyberknight squires or cyberknigths in training?
>>
>>96669568
Nope. That's why if we were to want more CK shit we'd need something like Jucier Uprising but for CK's. Lists of armors & weapons used by the CK what life is like for them, multiple variations of the base model etc. Personally I dont care if they disappeared though. I wouldn't mind more books thar explored some of the more iconic OCCs/RCCs. Like a Leyline Walker/Rifter one that is all about interdimentional travel, what to bring, what not to bring, how to fit in etc. Maybe give us some variations on the LL(W/R.) Life as a hobo on the Megaversal Road. Like, do LLWs use something like hobo signs to communicate to other travellers? Are there emergency supplies scattered around for LLW organization members? Just explore the concept of Megaversal travel from a travelers perspective. Most books & characters are people with home dimensions that tend to be written & developed with the idea of saying in the hame dimension even if you occasionally leave it, or dealing with threats from outside coming into your home, not much is written about those who travel around with no real home.

Another is the TW. While there's a decent amount of TW stuff in Rifters, the books dont actually say much. Id really like to see an Operators, TechnoWizards, & other assorted gearheads books. Running a business, guilds/corporations, how to use all those mechanics skills to actually makebshit from scratch. I want an Atlantean TechnoWizard variant especially. One that can do stuff with Stone Pyramids & Crystal Mage tech its kind of odd that they chopped them uo into different OCCs when they really need some rules for working together. Not to mention the way there no real rules for TWs & Operators to work with each other properly. Plus itd be a gearbook too with lots of cool equipment.

A book for Rogue Scholars/City Rats & about what archeology means on RIFTS Earth. Rules for expeditions & selling relics, etc.

Id love a Glitterboy book but I want to write it.
>>
>>96671997
A Techno-Wizard or Ley Line Walker sourcebook would be cool but that's not how Palladium writes their supplements. They usually have world books that combine locations with new NPCs, gear, mechs, weapons, armor, magic, etc. From a publishing perspective it's not good business to write a whole book for only a tiny niche of a class that maybe all of 8 people are playing, especially as Palladium has hundreds of OCCs and RCCs for players. It makes more sense to package everything that might interest a GM and other players into one book so that they all might buy it. Otherwise you lose a lot of money. That's the unfortunate part of running an RPG publishing company.

Honestly, I thought there was a lot of overlap between cyberknights and glitterboy pilots in their mentality.

It would be nice if all the cyberknights had a unique common enemy or a threat that only they knew about, besides hell mothes.

Say something like there is a fallen cyberknight who is a master of disguise. Like uses special powers to perfectly imitate individuals, even able to tint his aura, and he is out there to wreck shit. Its up to cyberknights, who just barely able to detect him to stop his civilization destruction plan of the week. Give him a gang of thugs or specialists. Call him Sir Instigator or something because his MO will be trying to cause a war through infiltrating one group to make their enemies attack them.
>>
>>96671997
I wouldnt mind all the rules for upping your PPE written out in an official bulletpoint list:
>Leyline and nexus effects (this is already well documented in the books but is a given)
>Celestial events like equinox, solstice, or even holidays that influence spells and PPE
>straight up scenarios of how to gather enough ppe for casting dimensional portal. Like assuming your are a LLW with 150+PPE how many people would it cost if you had no leylines, if you had a leyline, if it was a celestial event, if you needed sacrifices, etc.
>some fluff like what smells to look out for in a dimension that means you should be wearing your gas mask. Smells like copper, almonds, thick air, when you fell like you aren't getting enough air, when you realize you cant see colors anymore, etc.
>fashion trends of LLWs depending on where they are from

The SoT4 book mentions CK Squires (no stats) and CK Hermits (old retired CKs with huge stat penalties, but sometimes they have weird future visions or some shit).
Same book also said the default CK is the Courtier CK
Light Armor CKs who tend to travel anonymously and only show their CK armor/weapons when shit hits the fan are Crusaders who are implied to have more powers/talent, but also are more interested in going after huge goals (uprooting a massive slavery operation, bringing peace to wartorn areas, etc).
Then the heavy (or even power armor) CKs were called the Champions, where the book implies they have a fuck ton of physical/weapon skills and basically can't lose a 1v1.

And that's not counting the evil CK variants the book talks about.

None of which have any stats, except those Hermits.

>>96669172
I would use the pre-established groups but make them stick out more.
We don't need a 100% PA focused CK, but a CK who has more weapons/skills like the Champion can opt into PA pretty easily.
Courtiers -> Generic CK
Crusaders -> Hold themselves to a higher standard, have more powers (holy powers?)
Champions -> More skill options, can pick a weapon focus (lancing, PAs, heavy weapons, etc), possibly some kind of Challenge ability.
Robber Knights -> Evil Courtier (better rogue/espionage skills)
Justiciars -> Evil Champion (probably not much difference)
Despoilers -> Evil Crusader (unholy powers?)

Metalheads are to be the official TW 'Borg OCC.
TW Power system that holds I think one or two hundred PPE & can be spent to power TW devices & Bionics, it restores 4pts per active hour & 8pts per resting hour.
Appearance ranges all over because they aren't standardized yet. No clue on stats of the chassis or the rest of the OCC information other than rumors I've chased. A very nice anon shared photos of his book on here but was very reluctant to share more. He posted the list of new TW Bionics which was honestly phenomenal. A Fight Mask effect for Horror Factor, spstealth system, silent flying, etc. Really nice abilities including a dragonbreath weapon. The highlight for me personally though, was the TW portal generator. Built I to the arm/hand of the TW Borg is a device that allows them to teleport using portals & if given enough time to charge it up (1d4 full rounds) they can jump dimensions. FUCKING A. I don't see why not. Could a TW Borg get a few extra Arzno PPE batteries installed to give them even more power? Can you strap rockets to a cyborg? Install some TW Bionic style upgrades/weapons into a golem? I don't see how they can't benefit from something like the Wave Impact Generator or the dragonbreath weapon.
>>
>>96697635
Generally it feels like they need a second Bionics Handbook (I hate even giving Kevin that idea), where the first section is
>This is the new Cyborg class
>They get to pick 2,000,000 credits worth of types A, B, C, D, E, F, G parts
>This is the new Headhunter class
>They get to pick 850,000 credits worth of types A, C, D, F parts
And then go from there.

I'm thinking of upping the damage of railguns across the board.
The fact they need both ammo and energy makes me feel like they should pack more of a punch.
Especially given they also tend to weigh 5x as much as the equivalent energy weapon.
Also I fucking love rail guns.
Only question is do I remove the burst rules for rail guns and make them work like other sci fi railguns (and like the boom gun) or do I keep them as magnetic machine guns?
In either case I think 4d6+4 damage will be the weakest one and go up from there.
>>
>>96702747
I think the"railguns" that arent the Boomgun should be renamed Gauss weapons, with the Boomgun & maybe some others being actual railguns. Most of the burstfire stuff is way better explained as an active Gauss coil being fed a bunch if ammo during its energized burst. And the Boomgun should be more properly called a rail cannon but thats splitting hairs

What about a similar method to mold your face to look more attractive? Sort of stone shaping cosmetic surgery? Could you add muscles? Close a gunshot? Im trying to find a line for believability of a "stone surgeon"
>>
>>96706880
>What about a similar method to mold your face to look more attractive?
That sounds like you need to do a Face/Off situation first.
>Sort of stone shaping cosmetic surgery?
If you're cutting off the parts first it probably works.
>Could you add muscles?
Ehh
>Close a gunshot?
I'd treat it as really weak healing.
Like you pour cement dust over the wound and heal the outside but unless the surgeon can actively see inside to shape the stone/dust to exactly what it needs to be turning it to match what's missing feels like a stretch compared to replacing an entire heart or entire arm that he can shape independently

It'd be cool if there was an Electrosynthesis Metabolism for Host Armor
Basically a set of Organs that take ambient electromagnetic fields and convert them into Bio-E.
As for an inhanced sense...they can perceive electromagnetic fields visually (It was this or a biological compass)
>>
>>96708436
That'd be cool. Also, I know its not really a magic dense setting, but a PPEvore would be pretty cool too. Eating like a Psi-stalker or basking in a leyline

>>
>>96709314
Just make something up that feels good. I would imagine they are burst feeders, needing a lot of power outside of its very lethargic standby mode but feeding very fast too. So it could suck the power out of dead enemies like a far kid sucks a juicebox, to keep itself going but once combat is over it gets sleepy
>>
>>96709314
>>96708436

Maybe make it incentive based instead, as in each large power cell allows them to regenerate for at least a day. If they are regenerating they will deplete their reserve in 24 hours. If they dont regen they can go 3 days with a reserve after which it will deplete on its own.

I suppose regenerating ammo or using energy mods also count.

Guns in Rifts in general should have more mechanical differentiation than just damage. For example, lasers should have -1d6 in fog, rain, and heavy weather, and another -1d6 versus reflective metallic armor, but +1d6 versus soft biological targets.

Plasma guns should have very short ranges but also splash effects and continous scaling-down damage for 1d3 rounds. The should also be able to melt armor and structures, reducing their MDC permanently and doing more damage to electromechanical systems like power armor, vehicles and mechs.

I don't have it refined but things like that to make different types of guns feel really different.

At my table (going off of memory since I don't have my notes).
Lasers have massive range and bonus to aimed shots due to no fucking recoil and point & click nature. They suffer range/damage penalties in bad conditions.
Ion does +2/die damage to machines and tech force shields.
Plasma does AoEs (it was dots before but that was annoying to keep track of in big combats)
Particle Beam weapons have Improved Crit and on kill penetrate the target to hit behind them, allowing crazy shit.
Railguns are heavier, single shot, and are the most damage you can get, if you can carry it.

People just want a solid remake that needs some marketing behind it so people who are just interested in an old style tactics game can see it.

For the Big Guy host armors, I think a good price of power thing to say that the big armor permanently absorbs the old host armor. I dont know if bonuses carry over but that trade off of losing your host armor is a pretty big blow for splicer players.

Yes, probably have some bonuses carry over so that you dont have players throwing in cheapo host armors that are not as good as their best armor.

I was thinking of a splicer OCC that has your host armor hide inside you then you turn inside out to get the armor on, although that would be like being a biotic.

God imagine if we got a Sandworm Warmount.
>Super Long
>Lithovorous so the act of digging gives it Bio-E
>Designed to be a carrier like the Kraken but it operates undergound
>Outfitted with internal chambers for burrowing War Mounts(Its internal structure is quite spongy, like a loofah), a sizable crew compartment in it's "Saddle" including a similar "Cockpit" to the Kraken
>Main Macro scale armaments are a bio-electric field manipulation array, several hives of Swarmlord Insects and a massive Casting Cannon in its rear end which forms the worms excrement around Pseudo Pods loaded with personnel and equipment.
>>
>>96773175
Now thats what im talking about!

Giant wormhives, bioweapon forests like that one forest thats actually just one big interconnected tree, an ocean riding mantra ray or turtle the size of FUCK YOU. Just really really big bio creatures that can house everything a colony needs.
>>
>>96774018
One thing I think of with the Bioweapon Forest is that it could essentially be using Glowfruit as Photosynthetic Capacitors.
With really big stuff it either needs Bio-Capacitor Organs to hold the majority of it's collected sunlight or heat or it's Locomotion method needs to be the way it feeds like the Kraken or my Sandworm idea.
>>
>>96773175
I think they really need to lean into the sliminess of worms. Give it acid pustules for defense and its secrets a resin slime for digging to GeForce the tunnel behind it so it can transport troops inside it and dig tunnels for regular travel or base building.

So splicer being splicers we would need smaller 1 man worms to fill out the page count. Give it more the traditional grabbed tremors worm with a hard beak and tentacles to grab things. Their main purpose would be for infiltration, able to 'dig prowl' by traveling slower through concrete and pop up in cities undetected or a numbing agent to let them dig into splicer bases without detection.

I think the idea that it can run out of energy is a fun penalty mechanic. That if its attacked it can only hold out for so long before it depletes energy for weapons so for any threat its up to players to decide if they can take out the threat before the forest runs out or if they need to engineer a retreat.

Every players wants to look cool and be a unique special snowflake. It's half the reason we roleplay games. This has been true for decades and isn't a recent thing but the increase in games that allow more weird options (specifically D&D, which is like 90% of the market) is what has driven the explosion of half-tiefling/half-dragon/half-elven mary sues. Gygax warned about this back in 1979, so it's old news.
