Does your party show mercy to bandits if they surrender?
>>96495155trick question, everyone fights to the death in D&D
>>96495179That’s how most dms play it. But technically if you read modules enemies like bandits are supposed to flee when fights go sideways.
>>96495155More mercy than to a random shitposter that makes this thread every three weeks.Kill yourself, you fucking waste of oxygen
>>96495155depends on how much they hurt us, wheter or not we know they caused bad shit in the era or if some hypermoral pussy is in the area. But in like 80% its execution and in 20% its taking him to the autorities for hanging/ prison. Letting them just go doesnt happen
>>96495155My character always tries to negotiate/intimidate the enemy into surrendering before the fight (Unless it's an ambush). Sadly, she is just a smol, cute redneck elf. She does try to spare anyone not willing to continue fighting.
Take em in dead and collect the bounty

>>96495155my bandits give no quarter and ask for none in return
>>96495155Lining them up and crippling their thumbs on their favored hand. Freed from the ability to fight effective, they can go home and be subsistence farmers.
Usually we capture them, question/bully them a bit, and then turn them in to some authority, and never consider what happens to their lives after that.
>>96497689They are most likely hanged.
>>96495155https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryCharacters/comments/1nb3zw4/lorimer_jacey_bandit_archer_by_pedro_silva/>puckee thread
>>96497694Maybe 3-6 of them are thrown into an arena, salt-mine, or made into galley slaves. One day fortune turns in their favour, and by working together they escape.Still wanted by the law, they travel as far as they can, and take whatever opportunity they can to make some money and survive another day...
>>96495155Depends. How many crimes have the bandits committed, and of what severity? Some bandits historically were just local laymen resorting to desperate (violent) measures to survive. As long as they've not done something genuinely unforgivable (like murder, mass beatings, or stealing food from people who need it) and they seem to genuinely regret turning to banditry and show a desire to never do so again, there's room for mercy. But this is, admittedly, pretty unlikely. Any bandit group that's been at it long enough to become competent at the job would have already racked up enough horrible crimes to have earned summary execution no matter how much they beg for forgiveness.
>>96497381If they had the option to make a stable, safe living back at home, they probably wouldn't have chosen the risky life of a bandit in the first place. Also I believe thumbs are quite useful for farmers, too.
>>96497804Not my problem. I am a fighting man with a sword, not a social worker.
>>96495155We'll see next week. The Rogue was straight up going to torch their hovel before even looting the damn thing because she was so pissed over being shot at. The two snipers weren't even really trying to kill them, just get them to fuck off, but the party bee-lined it up the street under fire to get at them; I was baffled they didn't even look for cover first. I was a little surprised the party even took them alive but I guess having the two snipers actually chatter when the party was sneaking up on them worked. It'll be interesting to see their reaction when they figure out they might have to take care of two prisoners after they come up short for the stuff they're supposed to be scavenging.
>>96497767counterpointmost lords arent doing their job in the peasants point of view. if there is rampant banditry killing some bandits isnt going to solve the problem and the only people who probably both want to fight the lord and have any fighting experience, are the bandits
>>96495405posting elf oc in literally every threadstarting to become unendeared
>>96495358shut up faglordiv shit turds edgier than you
>>96498170He's one of like eight people on the board that still actually play. Sucks but that's how it is.
>>96498001Then just use your sword to kill them instead of crippling the poor bastards and leaving them to starve.
>>96498195Once crippled their survival depends on charity and good intentions, let them learn how hard life is for the weak and meditate on how they made life worse for everyone. That way their souls will be purified when they die.
>>96495155Half of them go in the pit to burn alive, the rest are crucified along the road as a warning to others.
>>96498221Aaah the old Crassus method.
>>96498224Just another day in Imperial Rome, citizen.
>>96498212If you're a fighting man with a sword, not a social worker nor a priest, just do your job instead of trying to teach people moral lessons through needless cruelty.
>>96498235So he delivers them to his local lord, who promptly executes them. How merciful.
>>96498238Compared to dying slowly through starvation because you're a cripple who can't work? Yes.
>>96495179did you just assume that OP is playing dnd?
>>96495155Do I get more EXP for saving the fucks? Because if not, they die.
>>96495155Yes. Providing they swear to give up their evil ways and serve God in humility. Otherwise, death by hand-to-hand combat through each other, culminating into fighting my boys and me.Like the Count of Monte-Christo, but more throat punches.
My party plays only WHRP and WoD. Poor shits will be lucky if they're just killed.
>>96495179Did you just assume OP's system???
>>96498284>exp for kills
>>96498195No. A man with a thumb crippled on his favored had is still capable of much. Given that I have the sword in this scenario, I make the decisions. I don't recall giving you a say in the matter.
>>96498195No. A man with a thumb crippled on his favored had is still capable of much. Given that I have the sword in this scenario, I make the decisions. I don't recall giving you a say in the matter..
>>96495155mercy to the guilty is injustice to the victim. my paladin wields an axe, rather than a sword, for a reason
>>96498170I only post her in elf threads, drawthreads and these occasional "Does your character/party X" slop threads unless they're really, really bad.
>>96498580Anon probably mainly posts in elf threads and felt the need to call you out after seeing her a bunch
>>96495155Depends. If they didn't kill any of our guys than we're lenient enough to offer them potential jobs as followers. If they did though, all bets are off.
>>96498584I would love to see other people's characters and situations talked about but I feel it's not my fault few people here play games and even fewer can produce/commision art of their PCs/party.
>>96498813This really isn't the place for that. tg used to be flooded with anonymous artists back in the day, but the name of the game now getting credit for their work and building a persistent following. tg just doesn't make sense for that sort of thing so you see more of that on other platforms better designed for it.
>>96498836>building an audience on imageboardsWhat the actual fuck. Do people actually do this!?
>>96498855Reread. The point is they are NOT posting on imageboards. It just doesn't make sense anymore.
>>96498870I know what your point is, but I think you missed mine.I don't post my elf art here to create a following. I already have a portfolio and my socials decked out with proper detailed work and I'm already an employed artist. This is why I don't share my link to the portfolio and why I remove signatures from some stuff that I post here. I'm here to have a conversation and to talk about and read about games being played and since this is an IMAGEboard why wouldn't I spice things up with a cute redneck elf art?
>>96498918I wasn't talking about your elf art...
>>96495155>his game doesn't have a rule for trying to do a killing blow on a helpless intelligent humanoidLMAOngmi
>>96498925Ah okay then. I can't speak for other people.
>>96495155They've mostly just been deserters. It's a worse fate to just round them up and send them to the front.
>>96498334>Given that I have the sword in this scenario, I make the decisions. It's an adventure, your most likely interlocutors will have swords.
>>96495155Mercy as in letting them go? rarely. While it dependent on the circumstances and I also count Guards of High Ranking enemies into that question the general M.O. is that if they surrender they are likely brought before the Law. Why? The only reason I am not dead right now is because I was better than them/armed etc. But how many Travellers did they kill that were weaker than them? Did they listen to the crys for mercy of these people? Had I been one of them I would lie dead in the mud and they would not think of me again.
>>96498299
>>96495155Of course we do, when they surrender we have them do knife fights to the death! The survivor gets to keep all the knives!
>>96498164> if there is rampant banditry killing some bandits isnt going to solve the problemThats why you dont stop at "some"
