Greetings anon. Today I have made for you a thread for the creation of a Renegade Space Marine Chapter.Hope it’s funhttps://2d4chan.org/wiki/Renegade_Space_Marine_Chapter_Creation_TableFirst come first serve as usual, although discussion is both encouraged and welcome!——Our Chapter no longer serves the Imperium, having gone rogue for our own reasons. Importantly, we do NOT serve the Powers of Chaos! First up, from what Legion do we derive our geneseed? Who is our Progenitor? 1d100
Rolled 70 (1d100)>>96495541rolling
>>96496261>70 70 is either unknown or our gene seed is tied to a Successor Chapter of a Legion(ie, maybe our direct daddies are the Genesis Chapter rather than the actual Ultras, that sort of thing)We couuuuld keep Unknown if the anons so wish, but maybe we would like to know who our successor option is? 1d100
Rolled 75 (1d100)>>96496551Give us top tier!~
>>96496590>75>UNKNOWN or Successor AGAINWell, I suppose we could roll again, but I’d rather take that as fate that we are meant to be mysterious and nobody at large knows where the fuck our gene seed came from…thoughts?
>>96496601Let's. Kinda like the mystery niggas angle.
>>96496619>mystery niggaswhat about classical niggashttps://youtu.be/Cx1J2CzNnS8?si=4mrXqBh6IMEXRvL-
>>96496619Alright then ….Our Genetic history is lost to well…history. There are many reasons for this to possibly be the case. Not every chapter has intact records, and Emperor knows the Administratum has lost more than their share of records regarding historical events. Of course, a cynic might suspect darker origins, some secret shame. Either way, our chapter are orphans of a sorts, and now in more ways than one. Still, every chapter has a Founding. What Founding was our Chapter part of? Do we even know that much? 1d100
Rolled 72 (1d100)>>96496637Let's see!
>>96496693>39th MilleniumAccording to record, Our Chapter was founded as recently as the 39th Millennium. It seems that our chapter was established roughly around the time of The Waning, when Imperial might began to decline and slip into the Forever Nightmare of the 41st Millenium . Now then, as all know, we are Renegade Astartes. We must surely have some great cause to have abandoned our paths to Emperor and Imperium no? What fell tragedy marred us so that we felt no choice but to go our own way? 1d100 for cause of Exodus
Rolled 2 (1d100)>>96496756Here hopefully for betrayal and jealousy.
>>96496768VERY interesting! Lamenters moment??—->Altruistic Downfall: They came to blows with the Imperial Inquisition for actions undermining their authority to aid other fellow Imperials, resulting in the excommunication of the chapter. We know what we did was right. We know what we did was honorable. Astartes are sworn to defend the Imperium, and to defend the Imperium is ultimately to safeguard its people. The Inquisitors are not The Imperium. The Inquisition does not understand this. The Inquisition did not understand WHY we had to stop them. To interfere with their plans and come to the aid of those they aimed to persecute. Whether it be coming to the aid of a planet accused of Heresy and scheduled for Exterminatus, refusing to abandon a Guard regiment ordered to destroy itself in some suicidal last stand, or some other act of courageous folly, our Space Marines undercut the Inquisitions plans so openly and boldly that we were declared Traitors and chased from the Imperium….We know what we did was RightStill, other questions remain. What is the Purity of our mysterious Geneseed? 1d20(TLDR our Marines tried to be Noblebright in some way and took it too far for the Inquisition to stomach)
>>96496756I choose to believe that, as befits our mystery origins, the records don’t state that we were founded in the 39th so much as there are no records of us existing prior to the 39th. We all just assume that we were founded around then, seeing as that’s when we first show up in anybody’s records.
Rolled 2 (1d20)>>96496813ubermensch or mutts? That is the question.
>>96496849>2 Pure Geneseed.Wherever our Geneseed comes from, it’s effectively perfect. No mutations, no absences. Most curious, although certainly most helpful.……In any case, nobody is perfect, even if our genetic code is pretty damn close. What is our Chapter’s Flaw? The weak spot in our personalities? (Apart from an apparent penchant for Inquisition fucking Heroics!)1d10
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>96496883We're too perfect to have a weakness (we get a horrible weakness)!
>>96496901>3-4 Pride in the Colours - The Chapter hates doing anything that covers their livery. In the sense that the rep is inescapable, which is a problem on the Inquisition-shitlist side.
>>96496901>Pride in the Colours - The Chapter hates doing anything that covers their livery or colors Camouflage is for COWARDS! We have NOTHING to hide!!Our Chapter takes enormous pride in their symbology, standards, and all chapter symbols in general. Our Astartes feel that to cover or deface these noble symbols even after our exile is a great sin indeed. We are proud of who we are, and we know that We Were Right! Never shall we strike the colors! Let them know who we are, even now! Fly the flag brothers…!!Let them know we aren’t afraid of them —-Of course, every Chapter has many heroes-but some Astartes are so glorious that they enter legend itself. Who was this paragon of ours? 1d100 for Figure of Legend
Rolled 61 (1d100)>>96496962rollin' and bowlin'
>>96496988>Master of Sanctity Styled High Chaplain in many chapters, our Master of Sanctity truly became a Legend within the Chapter, his zealous words and heroic deeds going hand in hand like a true champion But what was his greatest achievement? 1d100 for Deed of Legend
Rolled 65 (1d100)>>96497008Perhaps something we should all strive for...
>>96497047>61-70 The hero led a glorious campaign against an attacking army, defeating the foe and bringing an entire sector back into the Chapter's fold.So that's a sizable region with good reason to respect the colors, no matter the next two rolls. From a High Chaplain with the Inquisition being pissed, I'm imagining theological friction. Little-h no-demons heresy.
>>96497047>The hero led a glorious campaign against an attacking army, defeating the foe and bringing an entire sector back into the Chapter's fold.Truly our cause is just, for the High Chaplain’s greatest deed was to lead our Chapter to utterly cast down an invading army, extending the reach of our Chapter to new heights. His words and fiery rhetoric echo in our minds even now! (It does not specify who this army was, so I guess we can flavor it based on what happens later in the rolls?)In any case, every Chapter needs a place of rest, even those wrongfully(?), called Traitors like ourselves. ….What is our Home Sector like? 1d10
>>96497067I do favor the idea that we essentially refused to let the Inquisition blow up a planet they determined to be heretical and it spiraled into a battle from there
>>96497085Agree! Zealots vs worse zealots.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>96497073Make it a paradise wasteland!
>>96497153>Primordial Sector: The sector chosen to occupy is in its early years, late into the process or just after the planets began to take form, with only the earliest signs of life in the sector. The Sector that we have taken up residence in is very, very young in its development. The reasons for this are known only for ourselves, but virgin worlds abound, albeit many are likely in the “primordial soup” phase of development more than anything else.Still, there are certainly advantages to 1d10 for Rule of Sector How exactly do we handle things here in our little slice of the Big Bang?
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>96497184We shall mold this part of the galaxy with our hands!
>>96497201>Patronage - "Some Space Marines live here, they protect us and teach us things when we give them stuff sometimes."Perhaps it is fitting. Though some(read, Astral Claws), may have been sorely tempted to simply fly in and declare themselves despots and rulers of this area of space….we did not! Instead, we seem to have taken up the role of Stewards of this sector. What civilians pass under our gaze, be they here or there, are more than welcome to our protection! After all *cough* *cough*, unlike SOME PEOPLE, we remember that the Imperium was meant to serve the people, and not vice versa! And as for the forces of aggression that may seek to take this place by force, let them come! We’ve beaten them before. Of course, how would we do that? Every Chapter has a preferred way of fighting. What’s our speciality? 1d10 for Combat Doctrine
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>96497240Already sounding like mystery niggas was a right call.
>>96497285>True Marines - A strong focus on ship to ship and boarding combat in the void. Our Chapter lives up to the name Space MARINE! Our skills in ship to ship fighting and boarding operations are elite, and this is our favorite way of fighting. A deck beneath our feet and the cool sucking of the Void. Raise the sails lads On another note, what is the overall Chapter Operating Procedure?1d100
Rolled 76 (1d100)>>96497321
>>96497330>Insurgency: We have a purpose, we know our purpose, and we kill for it. We target our enemies homes, their civilization, and destroy it, cause terror in their hearts and show our goals through force. Our Chapter seems to be waging its own Long War(go away Chaos, we aren’t Pro You either)It has not been lost to us that the Imperium, such as it stands, will not welcome us back. The Inquisition’s rot and lies have eaten away at its heart like a cancer. That door is tragically closed. Despite our noble actions, we now wage war, and though perhaps we remain loyal to the “concept” of the imperium as it *should* be we now fight fire with fire. We were cast out for heroism, and even if we seem to maintain a soft spot for those we choose to care for, our *enemies* will burn. They will think us shamed, defeated, cast out. They are fools. But we who are truly loyal shall darken the void and bleed their ships. They shall see our colors and they shall know that their sins will be called to account. Let them fear us, those corrupters of good. Let them see us, those true deceivers. We are not the villains of this story! Being a Renegade chapter is hard work. Attrition, inconvenience and more will inevitably haunt us What units do we not field? 1d100 for Specialist Restrictions
Rolled 24 (1d100)>>96497395
>>96497402>Assault MarineOur Chapter no longer fields separate detachments of Assault Marines for one reason or another. Interesting. Could this be due to a relevant lack of gear? 1d100 for conventional equipment we are running low on, or even out of
Rolled 9 (1d100)>>96497415
>>96497426>Artificer ArmorThis is sensible enough. Artificer Armor is precious even for normal Chapters. As Renegades we likely have lost suits with the marines who wore them. Sad but likely inevitable….But all is not lost! For in our exile we have found some goodies of our own. 1d100 for Special, Unique Equipment
Rolled 43 (1d100)>>96497434
>>96497436>Warp-Tainted Weapons: Despite the inherent dangers, this chapter makes use of weapons tainted by the warp, imbuing them with powers, however unstable they may be.Our Chapter has made the decision to make use of Chaos-tainted weaponry and artifacts. This has a history of ending….poorly, but the Relictors pulled that off right? We can handle a few Daemonblades…probably 1d10 for current strength of ChapterHow many brothers we got?
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>96497478
>>96497573>Nominal: The Chapter can field ten full companies, each with ten squads. In all likelihood most every squad consist of ten brethren and some specialised appointments may be empty, but the Chapter is regarded as fully fit for battleFair enough! We stand at basically full strength, and ready to go! All the better for the struggles we face. Now then, what exactly is our current plan? What are we up to at the moment 1d100 for current Mission/Motivation
Rolled 30 (1d100)>>96497589
>>96497616PERFECT!!>For the Emperor!: The Renegades believe they still serve the Emperor, if not the Imperium. We serve the Emperor’s vision. We unlike the Inquisitors remember that the Imperium was supposed to bring salvation to Mankind. Even if we must be called Traitors we will fight for His will…..it shall be doneOf course it’s a lonely galaxy out there, and everyone needs Friends right? Who is our friend? 1d100 for Allies
Rolled 23 (1d100)>>96497632Rolling for something funny, like an Inquisition ally.
>>96497711>OrksMaybe our High Chaplain was responsible for taking this region from Orks, and now they've convinced themselves we're worth following.Either that, or we've just found this particular Klan to be pliable enough to direct at our enemies when necessary.
>>96497711>>96497744>Ork WAAAAGH or WarbossSomehow and someway, we have created a working relationship with a group of Orks. This is bizzare and unusual to say the least. Though for their part the Greenskins seem to find the entire situation more amusing than anything. “Bolter Boyz” and whatnotYet we also have foes(in addition to the Inquisition of course!)1d100 for our main enemy at the moment
Rolled 89 (1d100)>>96497765
>>96497782>Dark Eldar KabalThe insidious Dark Eldar have proven themselves a major threat. Evil creatures at their core, it will be the Emperor’s work to purge their foulness. This Kabal in particular has shown troublesome, even with the aid of our Ork Allies…..And that’s it folks! Name ideas?
>>96497833They're probably the ones who got us hooked on daemon weapons, too.Anyway, how about the Scouring Flames?
>>96497833>Name ideas?Maybe something alluding to our mysterious origins?I was thinking something like Sons of Farini
>>96497833Noble Sons
Aura Paladins ?
>>96497855The Orphan Sons
Space marines are the least interesting aspect of the setting for me so I don't know much about them and will have to look up everything Rolling to see what I would get anyway>64 - Imperial FistsIdk who those guys are lol. Turns out just yellow space marines that specialize in "siege warfare"? literally how?? I thought space marines are like behind enemy lines spec ops type of guys, how the fuck do 1k dudes besiege anything? Lol starting off retarded already.Next:>68 - 39th millennium.Ok I don't give a fuck about 30k/HH so I guess being closer to 40K is good>23 - Chaos userHow original, but could be worse.> 12 Minor Flaw: Geneseed takes a new form from its predecessor's. Represents a mutation that does not Does not WHAT? HELLO. OP??? are you dumb? did you proof read your table once?> 3 Pride in Colorswell they're already running around in rubber duck yellow so that fits I guess >figure of legend 27: chapter Masterok>deed 65: won a warwoow my dudes did what they were made for, big applause. >home: 10 -> 2 -> 8, 1 -> 8, 4that was lot of rerolling. But it's an Imperial Held Dead sector. > 9 - hidingMakes sense since it's Imperial held and they're renegades. > 4 - overwhelming force Imperial fists lineage prevails I guess.> 59- mercsYea> restrictions:no apothecary: so they will die out over time since they can't get any new members now? sucks.>no rhinos Ok, they just look like troop transports so that's ok as long as they can use othee tanks/big guns otherwise the whole gimmick falls apart >special equipment: Xenos weaponsWell if they can't use rhinos they just steal xenos tanks or something >under strength Yea I'm not giving my dudes long without an apothecary I'm rolling on the friends/enemies list just to see what xenos weaponry m dudes would use >Ork well at least these have the correct size.I'll write something in a follow up
>>96498023Ok here's the summary: ex-imperial fists fucked around with chaos, got banished and are now hiding as mercanries in a dead system. While their last war was a big success, they only won BECAUSE of chaos fuckery and they also took heavy losses taking the sector. Because of their achievement they only got banished, not worse. However their apothecaries got taken away so that can slowly rot and die. They're taking on mercenary jobs and soon got discovered by the local freebooterz who supply them with heavy weaponry in exchange for their mercenary services.Everyone in the chapter is unhappy with the current situation: they won a big war and their reward is hiding in shame and having to rely on Xenos to stay afloat.Soon their grave mistake of fucking around with Chaos once calls out to them. It helped them out once so why not try it again? So eventually they will turn to Chaos out of desperation.
so for the color scheme of our boys I think it should be something very that fits the vibe of them being noticable and having a sort of heroric color scheme, maybe with a hint of something darker due to them using chaos weapons, any ideas
>>96498352Dark gold (like a black ink mixed with gold kind of color) with a bright white used for their markings. Straight gold is gaudy but I imagine if you mix it into a color and do white for the markings, heraldry you have something that could work as an unignorable color scheme. Plus with them getting work freebooter equipment as Mercenaries, it kinda wears what they are on their sleeve: money
