I think D&D 5e is a great system and it really starts to shine past lvl 16 where your build has come online!
That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much less than that. Much, much less than that.I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 24 Yen (that's about half a nickel) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 minutes now. I can even snap my katana in half by striking a slab of styrofoam.Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times and somehow still produce the shittiest blades known to mankind.Katanas are one-third as sharp as European swords and one-third as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can be cut by. I'm pretty sure a katana could be broken on the hardened calluses of a fieldworking peasant with a simple vertical slash.Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too busy laughing at the disciplined Samurai and their destroyed katanas. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because shooting fish in a barrel is entertaning sometimes.So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the worst sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require worse stats in the d20 system. My players are demanding to read my 2000 page worldbuilding book and the 12 novels that take place in the world before session 0. But I only have written a 4 paragraph note of some of the basic details of the world. The fuck do i do? The session is tomorrow!!!

I used an action point and rolled a critical hit on my beguiling strands attack tonight and pushed all of the DM's iron circle brigands into a well totally negating the encounter he had planned.Man was he pissed off.
