Do you watch any type of /tg/ related content? I can't imagine any type of video that has anything to do with playing a game outside of news or reviews, and I don't give a fuck about those.
>>96497352plenty, i just make sure to includebefore:2014at the end of any youtube or google search query
Nope. I have never watched a /tg/ video in my life and I never will. I read forums and blogs and threads.
>>96497352you never watch videos on tactics or theory?
>>96497352Back when Pathfinder was popping off in 2011 there was an old channel that used to post liveplays every monday, the videos were called Monday Night Gaming or something like that.Around the time that the DNDNext playtest packets started going out, the gamers switched over to that and the shitshow that ensued led to gamers pretty much imploding over the course of a couple weeks.it was pretty lulz to see it play out.
>>96497450I guess I like videos about historical trivia, but that's very tangential. It's like saying that you listen to audiobook to sound better as a GM, you know I wasn't asking about that.
>>96497480*beep boop*
>>96497418what happened in 2014?
>>96497464gamers as in the audience or the players in that show?
>>96497352she has an awful voice but I kinda like it
I just rewatch counter monkey endlessly honestly. Good stuff to doze off to.
>>96497480No, wargaming tactica. Like, a wraithlord is an interesting unit because superficially it looks weak (worse shooting than a tank for the same toughness) but the tank doesnt have flamers or a sword. The lord doesnt have a strength, but it also doesnt have any weaknesses either. Usually that means it doesnt get prioritized, so by the end of the game i still have this heavy generalist sweeper when ideally you've lost all your capable anti-tank units. Strategically viable despite worse points economy

>>96497352I watch Hermetic Hipster and Mage: the Podcast, both are podcasts themed around "Mage the Awakening" even though I haven't played it in a long time, I just like the lore feel and presentation.
I watched DingoDoodles
I miss Dungeon Bastard.
Used to watch Arch's early stuff, but he got kind of obnoxious once he got too deep into the /pol/ shit.
>>96497352Right now the only /tg/ content I regularly consume is that I'm subscribed to Seth Skorkowsky. One of the very few YouTubers I think is both knowledgeable, likable, and entertaining enough to watch. There are other boomer tubers that make content, but they tend to be really dry and have low production quality. On the other side, there are plenty of other YouTubers outside of that niche, but their content tends to be retarded, insufferable normie garbage.I like the idea of watching real plays of people at the tabletop, but to be totally frank it's just not much fun to watch people awkwardly play TTRPGs. I think it could theoretically be engaging, but I've tried and it always kind of blows. I have no idea what the fuck people see in Critical Role.
>>96497352Lords of war games and hobbies Corvinus wargaming Schola gladiatoriaBrandon FisichellaBasically people who are either historians or have an angle that is more than just talking about "the meta" or such slop.
>>96497352I've tried, but outside of guys like Seth Skorkowsky, most of them don't know how the fuck to talk about RPGs, especially if they aren't D&D. I even spent some time recently really trying to find other youtubers who cover RPGs and it's all either D&D loving retards who refuse to stop simping for WotC, Critical Role clips, or terrible skits like "pov your player keeps casting fireball" and other so-called relatable RPG humor.Sometimes youtube will even create a category at the top of the homepage for "table-top RPGs" and it's 90% Crit Role and Avantris clips, or some celebrity play D&D, or how-to videos for D&D. If I'm lucky, I might see a video for some MorkBorg type shit, but even that is fucking tiresome, because the closest thing to getting away from D&D is just OSR with a pretentious fucking chip on its shoulder. I've even come across a few channels that seem like they actually cover other systems and talk about RPGs as something besides a vector for lesser e-celebs to try and make their big break, and even those don't really talk about RPGs as much as they just use RPGs as an excuse to pretend to be a high-brow academic essayist.
>>96497352I watch a few youtubers who review systems, discuss the industry and give player and referee advice. I also went through a phase of really enjoying content about 5e optimisation for some reason. Recently I've watched a few episodes of a live play game (edited down from the original streams) and I've enjoyed it so far, but I don't know if I'll stick with it.
Outside of broadly-relevant non-fiction like history and crap, no.I have no idea what's so appealing about listening to people play. For the most part, it seems to me like improv comedy, but I just don't think that's fun. I'd rather read a book or some other story that's been edited to have the fat trimmed off: I don't want to be taken out of the story about some wizards to pay attention to a NATTY TWENNY OMG or whatever the fuck they do.
