The argument over whenever HP represents meatpoints or a combination of meat, luck, stamina, and integrity of armor will never end, but here is a solution I offer.

HP is lower, BUT you can restore hitpoints when taking hostile damage by rolling on an injury table, the more injuries you have the further you roll down on the table, the early parts of the table are just things like bruises, getting winded, sprains and dislocated shoulders, but it escalates to broken limbs, spinal injuries, gouged eyes, amputation, and eventually injuries that are incompatible with life such as decapitation, a crushed brain, or your heart being destroyed. For less-lethal combat it can be an inconvenience table which covers being knocked off-balance, disarmed, or just straight-up KOed.

In short; you can heal in exchange for a penalty, but it becomes increasingly more dangerous the more you do it, eventually culminating in a risk of instant death.

Illogical armor aside (do you not see the gaping weakpoints of her midrif and elbows), what the fuck is this anatomy?

D&D combat is about attritional damage over time and the bleeding of resources over a period of adventuring time (weeks for retro, days for modern). This is true regardless of edition, and the people who actually fucking play D&D know this and appreciate this.
The HP debate is not a real debate, it is a way for people who don't play D&D to bitch about D&D in a way that riles people up.

You can't deny that each edition hasn't engaged in number inflation which is what causes such debate though. If you ran into something with triple-digit HP in OG D&D you were going toe-to-toe with a god.

Why wouldn't you just post this in the already existing thread about the exact same topic?

Number Bloat is a completely different and legitimate issue with NuD&D that is not a part of the "HP is meat points/ablative plot armor" debate. Do not conflate the two.

I have "ackshually" in my filters so I didn't see it.
