So basically:
>Necrons have good lore but don't get enough of it
>Eldar lore has them losing so much it feels like the writers hate them
>Ork lore doesn't exist except in the books written for other factions
>Tau lore either has them being hyper-competent or complete retards with no in-between
>Imperium lore rarely if ever has any actual stakes involved for the Imperium

Mostly Dark Eldar, there aren’t any exodite as or craftworlds near them out by the Ghoul Stars.

>Rain of Perfidy Late-M38

>Following repeated raids on pilgrim fleets travelling through the region by unknown enemies the Coal Hearts hid a number of their own personnel and vessels among the fleets, hoping to draw out their foe. Initially this effort met little success with one of the pilgrim fleets disappearing in its entirety despite the additional guardians. Some months later a single vessel of alien origin was detected at the edge of the Quartinus Valenor system in a neighbouring sector. When the ship was boarded several Coal Heart marines and a handful of civilians were found and the true foe was revealed.

>The survivors on the ship had been captured by the mysterious enemy and barely managed to escape, seizing the alien vessel in the attempt. Drukhari raiders were using an unnamed and uninhabited world in the Ghoul Stars as a base to spread their influence through the region. The Coal Hearts responded in full force and engaged in a brutal struggle with the Aeldari pirates. The battle ended with one of the alien’s own vessels being boarded and deorbited into the webway gate they were using to ferry their plunder to Commoragh and reinforce themselves.

>While many of the aliens escaped retribution, those who remained were systematically tracked down and eradicated. The Kabal of the Obsidian Serpeant has never forgiven this slight and they have engaged in several attacks on isolated Coal Heart forces in the millenia since. Taking particular delight in raiding adjacent but less important regions where the Coal Hearts operate, using greater enemies to ensure the Astartes cannot focus on eradicating the pirates. Mocking messages about the Astartes’ powerlessness are left behind, typically spelled out in the corpses of those left behind.

I'm just getting into Adepta Sororitas. I decided to make a Bringers of Flame list, and I want to put a Palatine leading a squad of 10 Battle Sisters. What would be a good loadout for the battle sisters? Currently I have:
- Sister Superior w/ Power Weapon and Condemnor Boltgun
- Battle Sister w/ Simulacrum Imperialis
- Battle Sister w/ Multi-Melta
- Battle Sister w/ Meltagun
- 6x Battle Sister w/ Boltgun

(List aims to be thematic around Celestine, for casual and narrative play. I don't care about competitive play, but also don't want my list to be completely stupid either)

squad loadouts literally don't matter in practice, which is why GW got rid of space marine tactical squads. pick whatever one-of weapon you think is coolest.

Yes, I did some drybrushing for highlights. I need to get a new brush for that though. It's been my first model since taking a 2 year break, so obviously it's going to be a bit rough-looking. But I think it still looks okay enough for the tabletop

>The rat
>Not Matara, the almost literal Nid
>>
>>96503918
It depends on the loadout. Tbh Palatines aren't the best leader for a BSS squad. Cannoness make a better warlord or just leader for them. Or the time tested combo of Judith on her big hover chair + imagifier to make them impossible to shoot off the board. Lethal Hits doesnt really help meltas that much because they are so low volume in their attacks.

If you want to have the palatines lead something the best unit for them is a squad of novitiates with melee weapons, sister repentia squad for insane damage but total glass canon, or have her lead a squad of sacresants who actually can really benefit from the Lethal hits and make a great bodyguard unit for the palatine.

Of course, the palatine becomes even stronger in army of faith, bringers of flame is the shooty detachment and the Palatine is your melee specialist.

Imperium really needs a kick in the nuts to bring them down to size. Think about it. If the War for Armageddon was lost, the Imperium would've lost 1 hive world. Out of 32,380.

It would've lost .003% of its hive worlds.

The War for Armageddon didn't fucking matter, like at all. Nothing that happens to the Imperium fucking matters. It is literally too big to fail.

>>
>>96504033
>The minuscule Tau Empire being able to birth a minor chaos god is just plain retarded though.
but anon, that's nothing. The Siege of Terra managed to birth the big three Chaos Gods. Yes, that singular battle on a single planet did that. Because the Emperor accidentally shattered time and space when he was fighting Horus, and all the negative emotions of the Siege were shot back in time to the creation of the universe, giving rise to the primordial Chaos gods. Yes, this means that Chaos created itself via a time paradox, somehow existing prior to having existed so that it could be the cause of its own creation. Yes, it is retarded. Yes, it is all Abnett's fault.

Dark Eldar are in a place where their plastics are basically perfect, the new characters both look good but they aren't doing the guardians thing where they take a $40 10 man squad and make it into a $65 10 man squad for next to no improvement.

Kabalites still look great, wracks are still a fantastic kit, raiders/ravagers are packed full of soul. Incubi were always the odd man out because of their resin but that got fixed with their plastic kit years ago.

I'd rather they added new units to Dark Eldar than refresh any of the existing kits, and that's what happened.

My dream is still for a plastic tantalus, though.

I feel a lot of Ork lore is similar to Tyranid lore in the sense that you hardly get stories about them and most of their lore is centered around their society/anatomy and how it all functions and works in neat ways. The nids with their xenobiological descriptions of bioweapons and stonach acids and the orkz with their squiggs and scrapheep contraptions. I haven't read any ork books though so I might be biased towards this viewpoint, I heard very horrid things about that one with like the Kunning Kruelty or whatever from that obnoxious author with the shitty mohawk I can't remember the name of. Haven't heard much negativity for anything else though
>>96503852
You can have kino imperium books it's just that the imperium is so damn big that something like the siege of vraks wouldn't affect the imperium much and for anything to have stakes you would need like a edition defining catastophre or some really crazy ass Mary Sue shit with superpowered protagonists that aren't as interesting to read about because of it

>Do /yourdudes/ come into contact with eldar often?
I've actually been mulling that over. /mydudes/ are orks led by a particularly eccentric warboss who has only gotten worse after half his face got blasted off and replaced with bioniks I'm using the Mozrag Skragbad model as the base of my kitbashed Warboss, so I was considering having him have vague memories/visions of the War in Heaven and be an ally to Eldar as per "da auld akkords". So while his WAAAGH would have no problem warring with eldar he'd sooner side with them first, especially if the enemy in question are necrons.

I dunno, I just like the idea of an ork warboss who casually asserts the ancient alliance as if it's the most natural thing in the world. Kind of like pic related.

Hashut is the god of tyranny. I think he'll be pulling quite a few souls even with-out direct worship.
Hashut can do things, many very impressive things.
This a problem, I don't want the Tau'vesa or whatever it's called doing things. I hope it ends up like the other two 40k minor gods and just evaporates, and is this weird shit background detail they forgot to retcon.
That's not going to happen though, it's being set-up so it can do things, and that's bad because it's existence is stupid.

Like everyone else said, they raise the in cloning vats.

Dark Eldar DO have romantic feelings and will actually form some amount of friendships/bonds/relationships. They're just all subject to the usual level of backstabbing and histrionic over-emotionality that they will be understandably unstable, on top of them all being sadists even to those they love.

But the point is: They're not skaven.

Let's review
>Posture
New has a more dynamic pose, slightly larger tactical rock. Generally a more open stance, maybe a little easier to paint.
>Options
New one has multiple options for heads, including the old helmet, as well as weapons, and two torso options for male and female. The loincloth also has two options, one crisp and one ragged, and it looks like two options for details to go over the cloth as well?
>Details
New one is missing the dagger on the belt. The face emblem on the shoulderpad has been changed, but honestly would likely look fine if painted solid like the old one. I guess the mantle is missing the fur? Maybe?
Honestly they could have done far, FAR worse.

The area where Marines REALLY excel is in indoor fighting, CQB, and boarding actions.

This is also the area where the Tau tend to be weakest since they just have to rely on Fire Warriors for this job.

That said...Fire Warriors are still a good chunk ahead of most Imperial Guardsmen so they're not totally inept. It's more similar to Space Marines vs Tempestus Scions. The Scions are no Space Marines but they're the best non-augmented infantry you're gonna get.

The thing is, the Chaos gods are made up of the emotions of mortals expressed in the Warp. All the hate coalesced into Khorne, the obsession into Slaanesh, etc. They are gestalt entities created from little bits of uncountable trillions of souls across all space and time.

Tyranids have one soul. The hivemind. The Shadow in the Warp is the psychic presence of this unimaginably vast singular entity. So there's nothing to coalesce because it's all in one place already.

So you couldn't have a Tyranid Chaos god, but arguably the Shadow in the Warp functions kinda a bit like a Chaos god
>>
>>96505132
Nope. It's consistent. Most Hive worlds barely break over 10 B, going by the list.
All you have is a poorly worded sentence that the author of the wiki added in.

The lines I quoted were cited. Lexicanum is usually pretty solid about that stuff, and you yourself are taking it as a reliable source. So we can assume they are accurately representing the lore.
A large hive can have "billons" of people, a hive world can have thousands of hives. Therefore, it's incredibly stupid to say that "no Hive City has over 10 million people" as you did.

I hope you take this as an opportunity to learn and grow.

>>
>>96505150
I was under the impression that the Warp and Chaos are technically two different things. Eldar and their gods are masters of the Warp, but not Chaos, but since the birth of Slaanesh Chaos is ascendent in the Warp. It’s how you have parts of the Warp where not even the Chaos gods will go, and it helps the connection to Fantasy where the Winds of Magic and Chaos come from the same source, and careless unsanctioned wizards may accidentally draw power from Chaos and summon demons similar to how unsanctioned Psykers unwittingly summon demons as well.

I think anon was crass with your use of a videogame term for a concept that doesn't really exist in the tabletop hobby.
"Maining" a faction/character implies that switching between them is easy and common. In the tabletop hobby, an army is a significant commitment of time, money and effort. You don't "main" an army, you have one.
>>
>>96505908
Assault termies seem to be trivial to convert using the normal ones as a base. The only problem may be changing the power fist arm into a shield arm.
>>
>>96505919
Just a heads up, God hand edges are tempered for use with more brittle Bandai plastic, gw plastic and non bandai plastic has been know to dull them

A combat patrol box is, what, $120?
Sure, having multiple 2000-point armies is probably unrealistic, but surely it's not rare to pick up a combat patrol box for a new faction every now and then is it?
Some older editions also allowed army mixing, like Riptide spam in every other list half a decade ago.

As someone subbed to the magazine right now, it's a mixed bag. It really all depends on what you want from it, and I just kinda lucked out on most of the armies being offered either being ones I'm kinda interested in or already have
>Space Marines
Always good to have some Terminators around, working on combining it with the newer Salamanders stuff to make a full Salamanders list.
>Tyranids
One of the few armies I wasn't interested in, but since they're pushfit I was able to offload them onto a friend who kinda wants to get into 40k but is anemic to the idea of using plastic cement
>Eldar
This is what the US is currently receiving at the moment. I had zero interested in Eldar stuff at first but after putting together the Farseer and Wraithlord I'm fucking sold. Hell I even went and bought a second copy of the issue with the Wraithlord off ebay for $30 just so I could build another.
>CSM
I'm toying around with making Iron Warriors since you get Havoks, a Helbrute, and some Terminators. Plus I could snag the Maulerfiend from the World Eaters.
>Orks
Orks is Orks. Simple as
>Votann
That same friend who's anemic to plastic cement liked the aesthetic of the Votann (Mostly the Herkyn Pioneers since he has a motorcycle) so I'll probably put these together and then see if he wants to paint em.
>GSC
One of the other armies I wasn't too interested in, but since it's the old-ass GSC Combat Patrol I know the value's still there if I ever want to start playing them outside of Combat Patrol.
>Guard
IG's one of my main armies so more stuff wouldn't hurt (I could also use some basic bitch Cadians since I've only been really collecting Krieg for the most part).
>World Eaters
I already have this Combat Patrol so while 20 more Berserkers is always welcome, I have no clue what I'll do with the extra Jakhals.

tl;dr It's ok if you want most of the armies but if you're new just grab the Combat Patrol of your favorite faction instead of buying into 9 armies you might not want.
>>
>>96505963
Or you could pick up that new unit for your army, or something to use for conversions, or that character you needed for that fluffy formation.

It's a mistake you only make only ill tell you what. If you live in Japan you can bring a pair of God hands to a God hand approved retailer and they'll send them back to the factory for you and sharpen them for you, but I haven't heard of anyone who isn't a Japanese native trying it.

I've noticed this sentiment from plamofags a couple times, is there something about working with glue specifically with Plamo plastic that makes them so worried?

The majority of plamofags build the models straight up of the box, don't remove sprue gates or mouldlines and just mash stuff together
>>
>>96506011
It's just them being snapshitters. Plamo that isn't gunpla is built with glue, these people don't even paint their gunpla and just low-effort snap the kits together and call it done.

As someone who used to do plamo myself, I can't fathom this. I used to religiously sand every piece down until the nubs were off, then meticulously color match every piece at the hobby store with a printed out picture.
>>
>>96504847
They don't even act notmally though. Most act like childish retards squabbling and having tantrums. For godlike superhumans, they are all pretty subhuman.

I think a lot of normies with no patience and no willingness to looks stuff up buy them from hot topic, or their local comic store and then just build them. You'll meet a lot of people who have built a gundam, but way way less people who have painted a gundam

It's not plamo its gunpla get it right. Don't associate us boomer plamo (ie 1/35 scale military models) with Gundam babies. The average sub-assembly on a proper plastic model would bring the average 40k kiddy or Gundam zoomie to fucking tears. They'd both be filtered the second they had to snip and clean their first scale accurate thickness grab handle, let alone glue it on.

While I'm on this rant I just want to say if you paint over your plastic canopy congrats, you are less skilled and less dexterous than a 60 year old retiree doing masks for his 1/72 planes. Kys.

I'm seriously considering running bike jail because they have 4 wounds and won't die like all my elite infantry does

There will be a new infantry set with 11th Edition, I saw. They look like a new tactical squad, but Primaris.

10 man squad with Bolters, they have access to special weapons. I saw two painted squads, one as BA and one as UM but in Veteran colors (white helmets ect.
MK6 & Mk7 helmets, alike MK10 Equipment.

Obviously it's a matter of taste and what you want to paint. I like clear canopies cause you get to paint a cool little fella innaplane

I had a "weird dream" last night
Basically the first Warhammer 40k show by Amazon

>Was called Space Cadets
>it's about the adventures of young space marines, and such
>women were included
>but they were actually Sisters of Battle, or such
>it's about young recruits of different chapters and such
>they all train together
>one recruit was sad, since he is the last surviving member of his family, and such, mainly cause he can't continue his bloodline to due being sterile/castrated as a marine
>the Sisters can still get pregnant
>makes no fucking sense overall
>Imperial Knight was as tall than a Space Marine
That's what I can remember
But considering we are talking about Amazon and such

You shouldn't move on so fast. Pic related was my first ever painted model and I think I fucked up every single color on him when I started painting. Then I desperately tried to fix it and he came out okay. Don't give up. It's always worth trying to save your model.
