With Critical Role on hiatus what other stream/youtubers do you like to watch? Just looking for suggestions...i prefer mine on the more serious side.
>>96519491I only listen to /tg/ lore discussions and what-ifs, watching millennial role play = cringe
I enjoy Adventures in Lollygagging. They strike a nice ballance between being able to sound decent and express themselves above what you need for a game, but also caring for mechanics and playing the game as intended.
I dunno, I play games.
>>96519491The Dungeon Minister and Mages Musings.Session reports and game stories are the superior way to experience a game second-hand.
Mystery Quest and Apocalypse Players.
>>96519491Watching people play TTRPGs is like watching someone else watch a movie. Just watch the movie.
>>96519491None, I'd rather play games myself than experience them vicariously through YouTube.
>>96519491>Critical cringeCringe.
>>96521991but I don't want to interact with strangers. And I don't have any friends that play DnD
>>96519491arent they back in like 3 weeks from now?
>>96521991personally, actual plays are background noise while at work
I like acquisitions incorporated C team by the penny arcade folks.Shame they've dropped the ball on the latest release schedule.
>>96522570Yes
>>96521892I really like the Mystery Quest energy.I watch an episode after a long time and realized I had stolen a bit from them in terms of flow and pushing the rhythm.
>>96519491There's a few podcasts that I enjoy, but could not actually recommend. I have never come across a live streamed game that was worth the hours to watch, let alone listen to. The over-produced shit like dimension20 are so artificial that it's hard to call them TTRPGs at all.
>>96522588I like them for public transportMore engaged than a talking shit podcast so they take my attention away, but not as controlled as a novel so if I can't hear something it probably wasn't that important.
>>96523611>The over-produced shit like dimension20 are so artificial that it's hard to call them TTRPGs at all.isn't that good? That way people into it don't expect that experience from whatever random table they join.
>>96519491big gay nerds podcast is surprisingly good
>>96523624That's the exact opposite problem, though: They expect that exact level of highly produced quality banter and dramatic gravitas, and it is so common that it has a name: The Mercer Effect.
>>96519491wait, you actually watch Critical Role?
I personally really liked Die Of Laughterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45Z-WP3xorkI wish General Sam did more of them.
>>96521991>watching someone else watch a moviei do that too
>>96519491>With Critical Role on hiatus what other stream/youtubers do you like to watch?I actually have never really watched Critical Role.I was reluctant to try any of those streams because they're often just not entertaining. Then a group I already watch, Viva La Dirt League started one up and I checked it out and it's extremely good. It's good D&D set in their world used for mmorpg parodies. They act out the best bits later on in their usual way.Even the subtitles are entertaining. Also, they seem to capture all the classic elements of real ttrpg:The guy who can't remember how to play his characterThe guy who takes notesDick and poo jokesThe PCs accidentally ruining the lives of NPCsThe DM having to shut everyone up so they can actually playCasters with mobility moving on without the barbarian (pic related)The players scrambling over each other for lootThe guy who hates his build and changes class mid gameAnd of course the guy who always rolls ones in battle:https://youtube.com/shorts/NaanErZPm1I?si=gTFPMKVlzS-OnzUK>...i prefer mine on the more serious side.Well, they're not that. But the DM, Robert Hartley, is probably the best GM I've ever seen. It's worth checking out.
>>96521991>Watching people play TTRPGs is like watching someone else watch a movie.Do tell.
