I often see on this board the opinion that the entire HH line is utter dogshit and ruined the mystique and setting of the HH. I ask you now, is there ANY book in the series that you think is genuinely good? Or was the entire thing a pointless waste of time?
Some of the books were okay, including the first few. But the whole idea of making a book series about it is shit. Even consistently great books would have destroyed the mythology of it.
>the mythology of italready destroyed by the card game and index Astartes articles lmao Even then the Horus Heresy was already in the 80's the setting for Adeptus Titanicus, the early version of epic, and the Siege of Terra boardgame. There wasn't really much of a "mythology" to it as people claim when GW already established what the era looked like on tabletop.
>>96528398>Are any IP-based novels written by literal hacks genuinely good? No, anon. By definition they're not "good." But hell, read 'em if you want. Books are all worth reading. Even bad ones. If you're interested, read them. 25 novels is what, 2 months or so of reading material? Sounds like a pretty good deal.
>>96528398Their quality is all over the place. Some books are great(like Know no Feat), some books are alright(like a Thousand Sons) and some are just horrible(like Battle for the Abyss), some of these are antologies so their quality varies.>>96528524I will never understand how people insist HH series was what killed "le mystery" when it has been touched ages ago. We even had models of the Daemon Primarchs back in 1990.
>>96528398Imagine spending time reading any of this trash.

>>96529233>anthologiesYeah some are ehhh but there are memorable short stories like Prince of Crows or Little Horus. There's also one of Space Wolves that has them fighting the Dark Eldar but ends with a downer ending
>>96528524>>96528823There's a pretty big difference between occasional fluff or art and a 64 book series of wildly varying quality.I guess it leads into the wider fluff vs lore issues in general.
>>96528398There aren't any good warhammer books, period.
