Which objective marker do you think makes a better game?
unemptied ashtrays & popcan spitters
I almost threw up thinking about playing with the marker on the left>models constantly falling over>might provide cover, which would make it an OP objective>super heavies likely can’t completely cover it, making them worseThen I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the T-sport compliant markers on the right. There is zero reason to clutter the board more than need be
Most people into warhammer unironically do not know how to build and paint the one on the left, they'd need GW to feed them an official kit and competitive ruleset for it to even give it a chanceRemember, the trend of pie plate objectives isn't due to people preferring them aesthetically or mechanically, it's because nu-hobbyists are lazy fucks who will whine and throw a fit if there is any rule that requires talking to the other players, and if they can't plug and play the game and have it completed within a hour or two the game is considered fundamentally shit. GW has bred a community of lazy motherfuckers who treat the hobby like a video game they buy and download with no effort or care required. The truth is that majority of warhammer players would not paint their models if they didn't feel like they had to, they would not even build models if GW sanctioned using tokens instead of miniatures. Speed is king to the nu-crowd. ADHD """hobbyists""" are a plague

>>96535921Warhammer players fucked your girl?
>>96535942G*d bless the US of A
>>96535942kek owned that retard
>>96535789A marker isn't what determines the quality of a game. The quality of any game is determined by the structure of its rules, and how those rules act in service to how the players meet challenges and goals set by the game.
>>96535942If warhammer players fucked his girl, was she really a girl at all, then?I don't think she ever could be.
>>96535942
>>96535942Mutts Law >>96535870>wouldn't even build their models if GW allowed it They are already doing that
>>96536571>picTruly grim.
>>96535789Left. I want to see a cool battlefield and fight for something good. Right is only for tournaments, and is one of the reasons why tournaments are a shit to your eyes. Cardboard Ls buildings and plain circle objetives, it makes me barf.
>>96535789An objective marker that looks organically part of the game aesthetics wise will always be better than gamey looking pieces like those blue rings.
>>96535789Makes a better game in the sense it aids in playing the game? The rightMakes a game better looking during play? The leftIt just depends on what your priorities are. Although I will say the objective markers on the right can hypothetically work for any scenario while markers like the the onion the left are typically scenario specific.
>>96535870So let's say we've gathered together to play games with our models and we do not yet have an objective marker like the one on the left built. Do we not play?
>>96535942Thread won’t get better after this
>>96535789the one that's much easier to transport and setup and doesn't take a week to assemble and paint. I'm of the mindset that as long as the mini's are painted and boad has some kind of actual visual on it, that's good enough. I don't get posts like this, nothing is stopping you from making all the detailed markers, terrain, boards etc and playing with those. Your just mad because some people don't have the time to make and paint a bunch of nice looking markers but they still want to play the game.
>>96536571what's with this weird ass AI-filter?
>>96542041so this stupid dickhead can get past people trying to filter his bait posts
>>96541018But that's a dumb premise, because real hobbyists wouldn't gather to play games without everything necessary to play games. And for terrain and objectives it wouldn't even be something they had to think about preparing, because all the hobbyists involved and any fixed venue they were playing at would already have everything they needed. To a real wargamer, what you said sounds exactly as retarded as suggesting someone might have trouble showing up to a game with fucking miniatures.
>>96541070No, we're mad that the game is being ruined to cater to lazy poofters like you because in order to support>ug me just want play game, me no want EFFORT, ooga booga me in hurry to get home and suck penises no time for terrain!subhumans like you, they have to make rules that are so fucking braindead and simplistic and gameified that they're no longer entertaining for people with souls.
I used 3 markers from pic related in an "unexploded ordinance" mission. Having Imperial Guard and cultists shoving pallets and crates back and forth was pretty fun.
>>96541018Yes, you do play. Use that lump of fat between your ears and just plop anything down and say its the objective. A vehicle, a (wounded) soldier laying on it's side, a crate, a bush etc, use whatever you have to mark a point on the board. Best game I ever played was my Ork Kult of Speed trying to rush across a board of genestealer infested jungle to capture a Norn Queen hive mind - we used a large onion.
>>96535789I do not like that objective marker. I cannot come up with a justified reasoning for my army to want or need to take that fountain, and thus I will not allow myself to gain any points from holding it.
>>96542985>ImperiumThe fountain not only depicts an imperial saint, but is one of the few remaining sources of semi-clean sump water in the city. It must survive the battle.>ChaosChaos invaders are trying to taint the fountain and the water reserves beneath it. Alternatively, destroying the fountain of Saint Abalina VII will inflict a great deal of negative morale to the local population, making them more susceptible to the influence of Chaos.>OrksThe statue looks fancy. The Orks want to destroy it and remake it in a more Orky fashion>EldarThe Eldar have sensed a strange psychic energy emanating from within the statue of the saint, they must not let this energy fall into monkeigh hands.I dunno man, just have a modicum of creativity and it works out.
>>96535789People need to let their games be fun. You can't make everything boring to keep the compfags in check, they'll keep finding ways to make the game not fun. Make rules and terrain that are fun and fluffy, and if someone balks at it because it runs afoul of their ITC tendencies, that's not somebody who will ever be fun to play against no matter what you do. I will have more fun losing 1,000 battles against the guy who made that marker on the left than winning ten battles against the faggots who cry when the board doesn't have the markers on the right.
>>96535942Savage
>>96542720>real hobbyists>real wargamerWhat makes you real? I'd say a real hobbyist and wargamer wouldn't be caught dead playing something as childish and abstracted as Warhammer 40K.
>>96536518sick burn
>>96543689>I'd say a real hobbyist and wargamer wouldn't be caught dead playing something as ... abstracted as Warhammer 40K.Probably should play, read even, more wargames before you start posting about "real wargamers"
>>96535942Lmao gotteem
>>96536571>>96535789functionally speaking regardless of how fancy you dress up markers and terrain they only really serve the purpose of breaking up LOS and providing objective points. If you wanted something that looks "good" in your tabletop just fucking play D&D. Nothing pulls me out of the experience of simulating a 40k battle more than bogging the game down with weird discussions over if something is balanced because you accidentally made the wall asymmetrical or that your buildings aren't shaped the same.
>>96552383>simulating a 40k battle
>>96536571
>>96543689My point was stated perfectly clearly, and LARPing as some kind of hex&chit hypergrog isn't going to change that or the fact that anyone who genuinely prefers the right hand image in the OP is a subhuman failure who should seppuku at once.
>>96553399Show me your objectives, fit a block of 20 models on it and have it work, explain to me how this works for standard pick up games with randies.
>>96535789GW thinks the left one is better, at least in TOW.
Left = PuristsRight = Autists
>>96535789>>96535870Part of the issue is actual the fact that GW messed up their unit balance so much that tournament scenarios are now required to have objectives in order to force armies to include certain unit types.
