The Orthrung continent had many nations and this encompasses the remains of all of them. It is in no way a continuation of the Firstborn Empire, they barely controlled half of the continent when it got nuked.
Muddish could benefit in the next Update from getting some colonial holdings in Mamet back (like entire northern part of Mamet) with a number of tempered characters expanding their roster and few more extra materials about their warmachinas.
Muddish are held back by warmachina crutches. It’s no surprise that the strongest Muddish reached her potential without a warmachina.

>>96548055Their kingdom on Poluden was one of the longest lived and most stable empires until the Morlocks took it over. They're overthrown now, but the Gnomes lead the rebellion so they put themselves on top and knocked the Dwarves down with the Halflings and Kobolds (which technically means nobody is discriminating against them but the Gnomes use nepotism to ensure they're at the top of every guild) then it got absorbed in the Ecumene so it's not theirs anymore. They really just have a couple surface cities (not Sytgia, the Majin took that over thanks to Jarnigit) on Mamet to their name now.

>>96548499Did cannons exist in OR? Eg on skyships?
>>96548512Yes, the Northerner race description mentions cannonballs among other places.
>>96548512Yes, it's late renaissance tech level outside of a few fantasy/outsider exceptions.
>>96548512I don't remember off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure if the Ecumene has muskets they have cannons, which would be easier to develop under Earth physics and presumably Charlotte's fake-physics. There also could be a warmachina that does something similar. Maybe one based on jet kick?
>musketsJust make a magic railgun. The base construction is literally just two rails and an armature, and electricity magic should be easy too. Making a barrel and gunpowder is way harder in comparison. You could even use dwarven runes so that the plebs could use em.
>>96548606>plebsWhy would I help the props?

>>96548428Then let it be the goal of the build, to make urks a full race. Not mud-men with no souls
>>96548606The problem with simple railguns is that the magnetism of the rails bends the metal, so only one or a few shots can be used before it becomes useless. We're working on solutions to that right now, but the solutions aren't as simple as the base technology itself.
>>96548744Then they'd no longer be Uruks
>>96548739Anon, it specifically requires you to mentally enunciate the spell WHILE focusing on casting for it to trigger. Caster Intuition and actually knowing spells don't force you to automatically focus on casting spells you don't know the Meaning of.
>>96548755Certainly true, but materials science becomes a lot easier in a world with magic. For example, you could just use panarmament to summon a fresh railgun once the rails are shot.
>>96548757They'd be the Greenskins!
>>96548788Gifts are rare. While someone with Panarmament 2 can do that, you can't really scale that up to a military level because of how few people will have Panarament 2. Are muskets the funniest weapon, historically? Horrible accuracy and everyone panics when they’re reloading, and everyone is moving like ten feet closer every turn, until everyone is screeching and stabbing each other (very rarely will a bullet from a musket hit you).
the fact that black powder exists in OR means that they must have potassium nitrate productionpotassium nitrate can be used to synthesize nitric acid fairly easilyconcentrated nitric acid is the key tech tree unlock for all the fun stuff the ATF doesn't want you to have
>>96548914Musket battles were also impossible to see through. It was filled with smoke. Everyone was coughing and scratching their eyes and shooting blindly. Colonial times was a cartoon era.

How much damage would a musket ball do?
>>96548955it would be extremely painful
>>96548955Worse than a modern day bullet. The musket balls were made out of lead; a very soft metal that would flatten meeting anything. Including human skin. It therefore indeed made for grievous wounds, imagine putting a coin flat on your belly and then pushing on it so forcefully it goes straight through you : any organ hit is reduced to pulp, I could totally imagine such a projectile taking off a limb yes. "Civil War" from Trevor Royle includes a depiction of a soldier hit by a musket ball and it is definitely not pretty. The guts being basically turned to jelly and the hip being blasted in little pieces.Another fact to take into account was that by its shape the flattened musket ball had high chances to take pieces of the soldier's uniform with it into the wound. Leading to much higher chances of the wound to become sceptic while a modern rifle bullet would just go straight through any piece of clothing without taking any piece of it in the wound. The muskets ball though would lose power very fast when it left the barrel due to its not really aerodynamic shape and the relative weakness of the black powder. Less than 30 yards and the bullet can go straight through a man, but at 100 yards the ball would probably not make much damage to you, if it penetrated at all.A M16 can easily drop a target at 400m and a good shot can go further than that but I do not see a 5,56 mm bullet taking off a limb, far from that as it is a relatively small bullet and its shape makes it much more likely to simply puncture anything it hits, I would not willingly get shot at with one though as the chances of a vital organ or a big artery being hit is quite high. Even a 7,62 mm would probably not make the same damages as a musket ball at close range. So all in all yeah musket did awful damages and you would be lucky surviving a shot at short range but their effective range was pretty shitty compared to more modern weapon, hindering a lot their lethality. Also lead poisoning.

>>96549175How much damage would a grain of sand moving at the speed of light cause, anon? You’re not playing fair.A musket ball would do more damage than a regular or low grade modern pistol, as the musket fired a large, soft lead ball that caused catastrophic bone shattering and extensive internal tissue damage, while lower-end handguns have less powerful cartridges and lower velocities and narrower bullets. Though a modern rifle is a lot more powerful than a musket, you’re right. A rifle can take your head clean off like it did Kennedy. A “lesser" modern pistol like a .22 caliber or a basic 9mm pistol would not have the same devastating effect as a musket ball's heavy, fat weight.

>>96549543Scourge of the Damned is the guy that went on a malice shopping spree right? How does malice work in the outer tide? Malice gets overwritten by builds after him but what about builds before him? Does he malice the parents, mentors and companions of other builds in Vedi?Vedi is the one world he wouldn't do too much damage in though since it's already focused on Mamet due to Qarg and the Inquisitor fucking shit up on Doria. Qarg's reckless ambition to be king is guaranteed to succeed and get him a kingdom now though due to the sheer power vacuum Scourge of the Damned opened up with his malice spam.>>96549598If he malice'd the characters of other builds they could go after him out of revenge or spite. The Inquisitor is irrationally angry at undead to the point he'd go after them first before 0^0 or the Ecumene, there's bound to be conflict. Qarg is another ambitious Fundamentum build who'd go after him due to clashing ambitions. Punchardt would probably go after him due to the chaos he caused on Doria with his malice.

>>96549857PCA's cyoas are visually good but other than that I don't like them. Looking through his allsync, the online one I really liked was the basement cyoa. >>96550925I wonder if the multiplayer of a cyoa could look like this:The first couple of builds are an exception, but after that, each new build must link itself to previous builds. For a concrete example:ASOIAF. The cyoa is about a large noble family (that by marriage relations crosses into other noble families). All the builds form an extended family tree, and each new build must add itself by a family relation, eg as a child of A and B (and therefore sibling to their other children C and D, and uncle to the children of E and F). And there's a rule that a new build must describe each parent/sibling/child relation with at least 10 words (it can be something dead simple).

This is what I got by running my program. World size limit of 9, placing omnicompatible characters where they are currently placed. There are some discrepancies from the sheet. I think a few of the characters in the chronological build list and on the sheet are in the wrong place, relative to when they were created.Liriel is listed before Rozir, but the archive link shows that Rozir was made first and Rozir is the one in Glagoli. Although maybe the link for Liriel was an update. I'm not sure.I CBA to investigate the rest of the discrepancies, some of them may be due to old data from the list or something. Either way you have to find and resolve each discrepancy in order because every little variation causes more differences later down the line.

Im sure its been asked, but does thorough breeding pass on Perks to uruk spawn?
>>96551371People gravitate towards those because the CYOA pretty strongly disincentivizes actually keeping the languages that parents give you. There's a lot of "if you didn't inherit it" and "if you chose the location" triggers in polyglot, and since most locations only have 1 or 2 languages, there's a very good chance that you've got languages from your parents that aren't giving you a bonus. Combine that with the fact that Everman tutoring is cheap and Uruks + non-inherited mamet languages is a lot of points, and people tend to gravitate heavily towards a small number of stronger-than-average set-ups whenever their build priorities allow it, which is most of the time.(Also, this isn't really anything, but Everman tutoring basically made Eirina 2 points cheaper in the update. I think that's why we're seeing more of her this time around than we did in 2022, even if she was still popular back then)

>>96551767It's the Blazkho thing, but at least one of those is me pairing her with Mlada because I think Mlada's spell-thief trick is a lot cooler when you've got Leimeie's "don't reveal what you know" training to keep it a secret. Also an entire party of Dark Clerics sharing spells with each other goes pretty hard.
>>96551811Unless they mention otherwise pretty sure they are always active. >>96552359Part of the issue for One was probably that half his true friends were Vtorusha and her faction, and a lot of his allies were people that hated him and would like to see him enslaved for being human if he wasn't so strong (like the First Empire.) >>96551584Your list is more correct from what I've checked (didn't go too far). The problem is, it is more correct mainly due to the nuking of around 10 builds, people editing their builds when there are already 30+ Outsiders after them and hermitage checking messing with the chronological order in my version.I didn't recalculate the table each time for the whole tide both because it is a lot of work (which the program makes a nonissue) and because it turns everything down the line into a total chaos. This edit, for example, completely fucks up Zhivete and Zelo, while moving a lot of people from their worlds in other places. And it is bound to happen again next time someone edits their build or makes a coming out. It makes writing interactions and planning practically pointless. My All Glimpse meant I could see the workings of Warmachina which are Old Throne state secrets forcing me into working for the Old Throne from a young age. My All Glimpse caught the attention of King Jdan, making me a personal maid to him who advises him with my All Glimpse and knowledge of Earth. King Jdan gave me a good education to make use of my talents. I work with Warmachina experts like Taiya to make inventions based on Earth ideas like drones, rifles to replace muskets, aircraft carriers for the Old Throne navy, etc but progress is slow without Mind perks. I told King Jdan of a great inventor in the dwarf Brastat and he sent Vesryn of the Doria south to Mamet to locate Brastat and secure his service. I also told the King of Nezvana's talents for creating seemingly impossible combinations of different skills and talents, managed to get her as leader of the R&D team.(1/2)

I can see through all palace intrigues with All Glimpse and King Jdan always intervenes with his foresight to make sure nobody tries to assassinate me so I'm probably the most relaxed court official in the King's retinue.Serebryanka wasn't chosen to be the mother of the 11th so I made sure to befriend her and keep her company. I found Savmak in the Lost City as well and got her adopted into the Ordo-Dorian family. I'm working on trying to get the girl to abandon her vengeance and just live a normal life but she's stubborn. Helping the Fourth Outsider out of the sword is beyond my capabilities, but I'm working on figuring out a way to communicate with him. I'm curious to hear what kind of person he is from him directly. I told King Jdan that he's neglecting his daughter Geminara, which got me a scolding and an assignment to Geminara on my Saturdays. Losing a weekend day off sucks but reading books with Geminara and keeping her company is not a bad way to spend a day.All in all, it's a pretty good life I've got. >>96554404The only thing anons overestimate when it comes to Icon of Icons is there delusional belief that they'll magically become a charming extrovert who makes friends as easily as breathing.
>>96554404That's true. Honestly it happens with characters as well.Is Rhucuphere the unstoppable mastermind behind everything that's happened in recorded history or just a sneaky wizard with a grudge?
>>96554404Nah, Icon of Icons is fucking busted if you take it as written. It's not overestimated. And Daemonhost is clearly a big deal, every Demon Lord is treated as a big deal. It's a big deal.
>>96554431>they'll magically become a charming extrovert who makes friends as easily as breathing.Yes? It's called Noble Inclination....you did take noble inclination, right?
>>96554448>Only has noble inclination>Didn't take Leif as a mentor/dadngmi
>>96554429I don't get it. Why will Thaumiel only let girls inherit Dis? Is she sexist?Yes I know she'll only teach girls, if you were about to parrot that then shush
>>96554448Noble Inclination certainly helps if you're going the "gathering large amounts of followers" route which only gives a fraction of what friends give. With Noble Inclination you become a leader, not a friend. Becoming genuine friends with someone requires much more than merely acting confident. I'm not saying it won't help, bu you're delusional if you think Noble Inclination is enough to offset the natural unlikable/antisocial personalities of most anons.
>>96554458Why would someone ever take Leif as a mentor Naphinae is both better and cheaper as a social mentor

Thanks for reminding me to seethe about Zhuchka being such a massive human dickrider
>>96554480While it is true that the type of person suitable to be a politician isn't particularly more likely to make many genuine friends, Noble Inclination would probably help because it directly gives the social skills without any of the work. To accomplish this, I will assemble a team of expert craftsmen, headed by Brastat. Their goal is to revive the tech of the Old Throne using outsider knowledge and all the resources available to the Lord of Doria. First improving upon muskets and common arms, then dissecting old warmachina, then finding and repairing the old greater warmachina scattered around Doria, then modifying and possibly even making new ones.As ruler of the former Exarchate, I should also be able to recruit Baf with the promise of Erginter's body. Worked for Keter. In any case, I don't think he has any reason to oppose me, and I gave him Shta. He will die before I do.
I'm pretty sure it is planned. They wanted to phase out Agelessness in favor of rapid reincarnations since they have faster soul xp gain. Now they just a suicidal drakonid empire and the Empyrean races to deal with and the remaining elves have had their soul xp gain forcibly raised due to their suffering so they are fine now.

As someone with bad memory I can tell you that no, it's fucking hell for anything academic. Also, like I said, nobody wants a half-functional build. They want to be good at what they do. I've found a way to fix Tumen Goddess build by changing just one thing, but it is slightly dubious. I just need to pair her mother with Leif instead of Amalrich, he is also Tumen. Only Leif is 33 and Amalrich is 19. I am not sure it would be that great for Maiosara, even if he sounds nice.Just imagine confessing to your mother: "I paired you up with this old guy instead of a literal fairy tale knight because I wanted slightly better memory".

>>96556952I'm still surprised by how centralized around point bags the minmaxxers have gotten desu.Like Aes is an extra companion for 1AP, and her gifts aren't bad. Ragratelyn is the only character who teaches alchemy in the CYOA (which looks like it's a pretty strong skill to have). Vesryn was always solid mechanically (most point-efficient Eldar parent, and his gifts are solid) and his connection to the new Awaken Vtorusha plotline makes him more attractive as an option than last time, yet nobody's taking him.
>>96557103>Like Aes is an extra companion for 1AP, and her gifts aren't badAdventuring with your mom is a hard sell for most anons.
>>96557103Most of the Majin builds want Daemonhost, and she's a terrible match with Fot if you don't want to be poor/the breadwinner of your family.
>>96557103Vesryn is a martial parent, and spellcasting is more fun than just beating shit with a metal stick. Aes isn't mechanically terrible but she has a lot of competition for the role of "cheap caster parent" and she doesn't really hook into any interesting plotlines or sources of power otherwise. Ragratelyn is bad or gifts, has an annoying personality as a parent, and what alchemy does is unknown so people aren't incentivized to go for it.
>>96557094I'm pretty sure there's still room for a gunterbrava on Yest', if you're willing to build for a world.
>>96557131>>96557103I feel like choosing to be a Majin without Daemonhost is basically volunteering to be a sub-human and also you need to worry about Ota tanging/killing you.
>>96557153>spellcasting is more fun than just beating shit with a metal stickCool fighting will always be better than saying magic words to make stuff happen, casting at most complements the forme. Since there's not a hard scale on magic people just like to pretend they will be arch mages who move continents by the time they are twelve.
>>96557153>Vesryn martialPanarmament x2 isn't just martial, though it'll copy staves just as easily as swords or guns. The two big prizes with it are the Savmak sword and Tamura's scythe, and the latter is a pure caster weapon.

>>96557176>Majin without DaemonhostSo a race like all the others? They are just people who have an engraved spell in their bodies. And you don't even have the excuse of being spawned, you were born like all the everyone else. This line of thinking is how you get awful demon lords like Dei.
>>96557281They fell for the "demonhost or icon of icons is mandatory" meme.
>>96557230Whatever you say anon, but the question was WHY people didn't pick him. Even if you disagree with their taste, that is the WHY behind him being unchosen.>>965572431. No Caster is going to beat whit with a weapon. That's a spellblade at best, which in the CYOA isn't well supported. Cursed weapons are the main thing for that, but they fuck you over while you use them, so they're not popular.2. There's no indication staves are special or enhance your spellcasting at all in this CYOA. There's no setup for "I copy my staff of maximized extended fireball and spam it" to incentivize staves.3. The Savmak sword will possess and effectively kill you without All-Glimpse.4. Tamura's Scythe is Tamura's, and there's no indication copying the weapon gives you her summons. If you want to play with the necromancer scythe thing you're supposed to take Murzik as a father and kill him off in your childhood. Most people don't do that because most people aren't actually evil. He won't hand it to you unless he's dead. Also he has Touch of Embedded Rust which cripples him and makes him dogshit as a mage father so people don't want to go with him. Also has terrible languages.
>>96557281Dei is objectively correct, Majin are not people.

>>96557313Did you know that non-casters also use staves, because they make traveling/going on hikes a lot easier? Also the number of people in the CYOA who just have a staff is pretty fucking low, like Mitrofan has one as a mark of office, and Taexx has one to hold his grease bags, there's no indication those are for spells and not a practical purpose.
>>96557294>Touch of Embedded Rust which cripples him and makes him dogshit as a mage fatherYou know it doesn't rust what you are touching right? It makes what you are touching rust what it touches.I feel people have a very limited understanding of how anything outside the most common picks work so they justify not using them.
>>96557332Stifling of Arms says staves and books are used to perform magic.
>>96557366It cripples you because it prevents you from taking Magician's Hand x2 (the hand choices that benefit every mage build) or, more thematically, Deathless Grasp x2, which is a pretty big drawback for a necromancer's dad when he stops you from being good at necromancy because he's shitting up your arm.
>>96557370The books you write your spells in, but where is there any indication in the CYOA that staves can store/cast spells? You can't just invent effects like that.
>>96557366It's because it uses an arm slot. It's not because its effect is worse than nothing, it's because it blocks you from something better.>>96557370True, which considering Caster Intuition might mean they substitute for or add to part of what Spiritual Feel does.
>>96557383>necromancer's dadHe's literally anti necromancer. That's the whole reason why I picked him.

>>96557390I gave you an example of the CYOA plainly stating that staves are used for magic and you say that I'm making things up. Ok.
>>96557429Meanwhile, Aes just uses natural talent
>>96557419Anon, do you not know how the Daemonhunt works? Look at Tamura, the ones in charge of anti-necromancy operation turn into a kind necromancer to facilitate their work. His only value as a parent is that he has the scythe that lets you enslave undead spirits to your will, that's all he does.>>96557429Half of those are held by priests, who hold staves as a mark of office. So where's the text you can quote that says staves facilitate or enhance spellcasting? Go and find it.>>96557442HOW are they used for magic? If holding a staff just helps you focus, then Panarmament x2 is useless for it since cloning staves doesn't do anything for you beyond just holding the one you have normally.
How mandatory are meta gifts like Icon of Icons, Daemonhost or All Glimpse anyway? Are there any builds that beat 0^0 without them?

>>96557468That's because OR is not a stand-alone work, it's meant to be played together with Divine Trials epilogue. You have to reference Divine Trials itself for the epilogue, the one where you lose.
>>96557476I feel like Tankista sometimes forgot that ages are listed for the time of your birth, so you end up in this situation where over half of the Companions are going to be ancient by the time you're an adult. Sure every hero's party has at least one geezer in it, but ALL of your companions being geezers doesn't fit, thematically. Anyone over about 10 when you're born is going to stick out like a sore thumb in your party. I'll give a pass for Jarnigit since dwarves are only adults at 50 and she'll only be 58 at your adulthood.
>>96557459Do whatever the fuck you want anon.
