>>96549900Oh noooo, poor ickle babby, wots wong, did the nastywasty game book not include enough twigger wawnings for oo?
>>96550513Hi, Raggi.
>>96550436>So>I like how / I love how>Can weWhat are some other easy ways to spot retards?
>>96549900Raggi always comes off as such an intelligent and well-reasoned man, even when he's walking around naked in front of the camera talking about the latest RPG drama. You'd think he'd created something less aggressively terrible.
>>96550573>What are some other easy ways to spot retards?
>>96549900This reads like the game has rape built into it.
>>96550836It's Lamentations of the Flame Princess, so generally it's a competition to see which PC suffers the most horrible fate for having dared to take part in the adventure.

>>96549900>Only one way to get from Point A to Point B>Contrivances to make the adventure work, eg a literal forcefield around a guy the PCs aren't supposed to fight until later. Playoids hate that shit and will rebel. >Doesn't have helpful tips in sidebars or optional encounters>DMPC shit, like Samuel Haight in WOD or Harlequin in Shadowrun In general, trust your instincts. If you don't think the players would make a certain logical leap or be able to handle the number of combat encounters, tweak things. A lot of modules started out as something for the writer's personal group or a big convention table so don't think of them as sacred.
>>96550671>Raggi always comes off as such an intelligent and well-reasoned manHe certainly comes across as someone who thinks he is.
>>96549900>that typeface>2012
>>96549900>mightnot a strong enough indication of anything
>>96549900>Art promises a 17th century historical horror game>Crack open the book and it's just an AD&D cloneCan any Flame Princess fanboy explain this?
>>96551848Why? You seem to grasp it well enough already.
wow what a great dungeon, Raggi. what a chilling final line.see, the point is, your players weren't MEANT to explore the dungeon!
>>96552332That's basically the recurring theme of Lamentations of the Flame Princess, anon. It's a transparent excuse to hold your gaming group as a captive audience to your guro fantasies.
>>96552356and i'm guessing Death Frost Dungeon and Tower of the Stargazer are still the most well-regarded ones since they're just...decent dungeons? y'know, maps, puzzles, treasure, monsters! didn't one LotFP module have a psychic moon, and you could ask the moon questions that granted you (the player) the ability to read your DM's notes? how postmodern.
>>96552447"Decent" isn't the word I'd use. The re-write of Death Frost Dungeon is better because Raggi had another writer on hand to reign in his usual horseshit a bit. Tower of the Stargazer is mostly just nonsense to let the GM feel smug while the players solve puzzles with no actual purpose besides instantly killing people who solve them. Overall, the best modules typically have someone working with Raggi, or don't involve him in the slightest.
>>96552356Yeah, the couple of times I've played LotFP have mostly left me struggling to explain why the fuck my character would repeatedly go through these things. Even for a broke, desperate and otherwise unemplpyable adventurer it just isn't worth it. First time I played through Death Frost Doom - I've played it with two different groups and GMs - was pretty cool, but that was pretty much the only wholly positive experience I've had with LotFP.
>>96551848Sure, rulewise it's an AD&D clone with the author's preferred period of historical reference for gameplay being the 17th century. The game supports playing outside that frame of reference and has rules for non-human PCs.>>96552447Better Than Any Man is a fantastic sandbox and The Grinding Gear is a deathtrap dungeon in the style of Tomb of Horrors written by someone who clearly understands the problems inherent to Tomb of Horrors. The thing about Raggi is that he clearly likes weird horror and most of his modules for LotFP are about weird horror, so if you don't like that style of game you're not going to like most of his output.
>>96551848>>Art promises a 17th century historical horror gameExcept it all features a woman with unnaturally died hair because he put his (then-) girlfriend on it.
>>96552564>girlfriendNot even that. She was just some woman he had a crush on who wanted nothing to do with him and was not pleased when she found out about him putting art of her in all of his edgeslop.
Patrick Stuart has schizophrenia, right?not asking in a cruel/mocking way, he just does? (and it does affect his writing?)
>>96549900The word "module" on the cover.
>>96550573People who start sentences with "The" as well.
>>96551034>>DMPC shit, like Samuel Haight in WODHe can't keep getting away with it.
>>96552681No, he has garden variety overly sensitive artist syndrome. His actual writing is only okay and filled with pop cultural references that will not age well. The ideas tend to be neat and workable into something you can game with but that's where he's at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-kHB2fWUS8
I read through some LotFP books and they all seemed the wrong kind of edgy. Rocks fall, you die. Ok, sure. But where are the hot bitches wearing spandex? Where are the succubi? It's like the author tries to be PG-13 and controversial at the same time.
Note or foreward from the author that is meant to prepare you for how edgy or “epic” the module is or anything that doesn’t amount to a brief description of the inspirations and a thanks to people who made it possible and the player is a red flag. Good work speaks for itself.
>>96552564>Unnaturally dyed (with a y) hair>Red
>>96552678Who's the chick and did she talk about this?
>>96552564nigga people have been dying their hair since before we had writing
>>96551034In fairness, the Cha'altified version does sound a lot more interesting.
Is this the Willy Wonka gangbang game?
>>96549900>Early signsLamentations of the Flame Princess
>>96556691Eh, I'd like to amend this by saying LotFP doesn't automatically make it dogshit; the system works well enough if you enjoy misery porn. But for those of us who like heroic fantasy, yeah, we aren't gonna like it.
>>96556441Yes.
>>96556431It is until every place is the same and then it gets old and boring.
>>96552564You do realize red hair is not unnatural, right? Like, yea, it's rare, but it still occurs.
>>96556019>>96557903You do realize that naturally-red hair is nowhere near as neon-esque as pictured in >>96551848, right?I should hope you retards can tell the difference between red (natural) and red (dyed), that your eyes aren't so bad you can't tell fake coloring when you see it.
>>96550537Hi, troon.
>>96549900So, written by one of the trannies that blogpost on /b/ Desperately lonely people unable to separate fiction from fantasy usual stick to Twitter. I didn't know they could get published.
>>96556441>>96557285You have got to be shitting me lol
>>96549900I can smell his farts through my monitor, 13 years later. Good lord.
>>96549900why does every self-aggrandizing nerd try to ape joss whedonif i had access to a time machine i would kill him.
>>96558340Nope.
>>96552566Eldritch symbols twist and churn in your vision, even laying your eyes upon them causes a dull ache in your head.
>>96555617>But where are the hot bitches wearing spandex?Cha'alt.
>>96558380OompaLoompaCoompity-dooI've got another puzzle for youOompaLoompaCoompity-deeIf you are wise, you'll listen to meWhy would you cross Willy Wonka with Strahd? And insert all your kinks, so repulsive and oddTo say nothing of your vile views about raceHow could you think you would not lose face? What the fuck is wrong with you?OompaLoompaCoompity-dahIf you're not a pervert you will go farAnd you'll live in happiness, tooLike the Oompa LoompaCoompity-do
>>96551848God that crawls fits the setting
>>96552447>>96552509*Death Frost Doom
>>96558633You're pretty good.
>>96556093NTA but all I heard was that he said he had a crush on her, it wasn't reciprocated, and he decided to make her (in-setting clone) suffer in every way possible because he couldn't get with her.
>>96558380This sounds amazing for a horror setting.
>>96558905name?
>>96558351Next time don't brap on your monitor.
>>96558351I doubt it, he wouldn't have left any for you
>>96550573Greentext
>>96556019>>96557903No one naturally has that shade of purple-red you disingenuous faggots.
>>96562142>Purple-redNobody tell him.
>>96552356>>96552447Questing Beast rates a few LotFP dungeons highly
>>96558380>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but it's also Aguirre, the Wrath of GodCould actually be fun
>>96558905That's not what happened. The actual story is Raggi moved to Finland to chase after an ex-girlfriend. That didn't work out but he stuck around and got heavily involved in the local metal scene. He created a zine named Lamentations of the Flame Princess that was named such because he was infatuated with a local model was a part of the same scene. He reused the name for his RPG which was also inspired by her because she was doing historical costuming photoshoots with the vibrant dyed red hair. From what I gather there is no actual relationship between the two other than both being members of the same music scene 20 years ago. This woman also apparently thinks Raggi is creepy. However, the actual reference model for LotFP is a completely different woman. The reason why so much bad shit happens to the character is because she's one of three example characters in the sourcebooks, the others being the blonde specialist and the dark-haired magic user. >>96558929LotFP is weird/gonzo horror fantasy and if you're not into that you will never get LotFP.
>>96562499>Questing BeastHe also takes sponsoring money to shill 5e Kickstarters despite by his own words not playing 5e. He's not exactly a model of integrity and I don't think I've ever heard him say shit about anything he got a review copy sent for.
>>96563444NTA. What 5e shit did he shill for? I'm not very familiar with him.
>>96563488I don't memorize their names, but it feels like half his videos have that stuff as a sponsor blurb delivered by him.
>>96563444I just clicked the first one that came up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ_6O72OaVY>just reads the back of the book to you lmao what >keeps reading the book directly to you ...is this how youtubers do this shit?
>>96563887Youtube is like TV anon. There are tons of 'lore' channels that just read a wiki page. It's all just mindless entertainment for people who don't play games.
>>96563310>The reason why so much bad shit happens to the character is because she's one of three example characters in the sourcebooksSo she's just Regdar.
>>96558380I might run this using CoC actually, it's perfect
>>96564075Yeah, minus the seething from the game designers. >>96563887Just reading the book to you isn't the worst way to do a video on a module or splat.
>>96557285>>96558380The author of this adventure later disowned and apologized for it, though mostly just for the fact that he called the enemy oompah-loompa creatures "pygmies" when that's a real life group of people. He also trooned out.
>>96550060Raggi has good adventures, like Better Than Any Man and God That Crawls. The trouble with him is that his bad stuff, like Death Love Doom (in the OP) is REALLY bad, and you can't tell which is which without reading them first.I saw him at a con a while back. Wanted to buy something, but I think he forgot the point of con sales cause nothing was discounted. Still, seems like a decent guy by the standards of this hobby.
>>96564118If you are interested in converting one of Raggi's modules for an actually functional horror system, there is also The God That Crawls, at least it also looks neat in concept.
>>96565005Death Love Doom is perfectly fine as long as you go in knowing it's a body horror, demonic possession, haunted house setup.
>>96558380Surprisingly comfy-looking map>Osama bin Wonka’s Chocolate Fortress
I wish there was more material for a 17th century hexcrawl. I want to set it in the HRE but creating a hex map is difficult. I don't know where to get period-accurate maps with roads, towns and info on how people lived. To provide a proper sandbox I need this shit set down.
>>96549900>Early signs that this module might be dogshit to play It's a module.
>>96562142hella yeah but no one has these deformed hands holding a deformed sword handle it can be easily dismissed as artist's mistake how the hell should anyone tell what's intentional or not on such a pic?
>>96551034>DMPC shit, like Samuel Haight in WOD or Harlequin in ShadowrunSamuel and Harlequin are the opposite of GMPC's, D&Dogshitanon. They are literal setpieces, you nigger-IQ mongoloid.
>>96563887granted he obviously doesn't just read at random unironically the best format for "first look" reviews
>>96550573Well it takes one to know one. Checkmate. I can hit you in the head with a blunt object so you can have an easier time than you already do.
