As a south american im truly glad to be one of the few people in my country with enough funds to be able to afford and play warhammer with a close friends group but which factions should I play to feel properly culturally represented in 40k/Fantasy?
>Hard mode
No Crimson Fists

For 40k you should play the guard.
Use third party resin from Madrobot and AnvilIndustry and eventually make the guard resemble your nation's army a bit if you are dead set on the cultural representation.

As for fantasy I'm not sure.
>>
>>96550248
Depends on what country. Which is?
>>
>>96550283
Brazil...
>>
>>96550446
Just play Guard Catachans in 40k and Dark Elves in Fantasy.
>>
>>96550248
Lizerdmen feel like a bit of an obvious suggestion
>>
>>96550446
Wood elves

so it's playing to stereotypes of brazil in online games but it may amuse you, since a lotta the brazilian lads I've known have been aware of the stereotype. It's the whole MMO "brbr huehuehue" thing.

there's a warhammer fantasy board game called Chaos in the Old World. Very fun, not particularly balanced in theory but fun in practise. 4 player game, each of you controls one of the 4 ruinous powers. Your goal is to collectively cause the End Times, and to be the one who ruins the world the hardest.

The gods play fairly accurately to how you feel like they should - khorne just wants to go wherever other players are and fuck them up, slaanesh wants to go where nobles and heroes are, tzeentch wants to hold a hand full of counterspell dickery and spoil everyone else's fun, nurgle wants to entrench himself where there are lots of people and become hard to remove, and you ignore him until OH FUCK it's too late.

The expansion pack is Shadow of the Horned Rat. It adds Skaven as a fifth player. The Skaven have an upgrade that lets them move their skaven rats out of an area that has just been "ruined" into a neighbouring province. This means if the Skaven play their cards right, they can cause a chain reaction of ruinations where nobody sees them coming until suddenly there is a rumbling as all of your clan logs on, the skaven are POURING out of Nosca into the Empire, the Empire is overrun under a tide of "man-things, kill-kill! huehuehue!" and pops, the skaven arrive in Bretonnia and repeat the performance, surfing a wave.

Skaven turning up in Chaos in the Old World is like a rolling ball of LatAM players on the US West servers of [insert 2010s MMO here].

Now I'm an english tea-drinking sissy so I've got not dog in this fight, but I figured you might find it funny. I don't think this is representative of how they play in tabletop WHFB classic though. It's hard to surprise your opponent by arriving late to the party in a one on one points-balanced wargame.

Why the need to collect and play with an army you feel should 'culturally represent' you? Groups I play in, we give each other lists of the models we each have and play whatever army we feel like playing with. Orks one game, Guard another, Eldar the next, etc.

Is it a NuD&D thing, where you can only play with models that represent you, or play something that flags to everyone you meet with what your political, social and morale beliefs are? It's just a made up wargame, play what you like and stop attaching your self worth and identity to the products of a fucking toy company.

Lizardmemes are beaner-coded, even if in huahueland. There isn't really a faction of Brazilian Mikus and motorcycle armed robbers...unless you count the druchii, I guess.
>>
>>96554096
same thing
>>
>>96550248
>but which factions should I play to feel properly culturally represented
This feels like bait. Nobody talks like this, and anybody who did care about representing themselves accurately would just read the faction lore to figure it out.

Lizardmen and Estalia
>>
>>96554283
Yeah, OP was very transparently angling for "Brazilians are literal skaven" posts, what with the wording and OP pic. Suppose he forgot or didn't even know the lizards existed.
>>
>>96554200
They really aren't, except when they're being obnoxious, then they're all Mexicans.
>>
>>96550248
Genestealer Cults
>illegal ridgebacks sneaking into our Hive World and stealing all our jerbs
>>
>>96550446
Definitely Skaven given how so many of you live in those favella ghettos
>>
>>96555286
Congratulations, you gave OP what he wanted. The thread is complete.

It depends on what aspect of Brazilian culture that you are trying to emphasize.
>Tau
Nothing says "Ordem e Progreso" like Tau. It also has the benefit of being relatively younger than other species and incorporating other species. A great choice if you enjoy a "shooty" long-ranged army.
>Dark Eldar or Slaanesh Chaos Space Marines
If you want to lean all the way into the putaria.
>Orks
Because Orks are just fun, which is much more important than playing an army that you feel represents your country.
>If you play Necromunda, House Escher
I have a Brazilian bro who made a House Escher gang led by Bibi Babydoll and including MC Erikah, Bella Angel, etc. It was brilliant and absurd, especially because no one else at our shop knew who any of these people were (we are in Florida, USA).

>which factions should I play to feel properly culturally represented in 40k/Fantasy?
So you haven't started yet?
Best possible recommendation: don't.
>>
>>96553230
Holy shit this is biblical. Thanks
>>96554741
I was! Can't believe my evil schemes got so easily figured out! Also nah the lizardmen aren't even close to native brazilians and I say this as someone super into reading and studying mexica/aztec culture.
>>96555559
Nice fucking digits. Funny enough my first army was tau though my homebrew had nothing to do with Brazil and I got a EC box as a gift from a close friend, huh pretty on point... Bordering on bait thread aside I was thinking about chaos guard/PDF with homebrew partially inspired by latam military coups except they all turn satanist at the end with just IG rules. I don't really care for the tabletop as much as the models because to be frank it's more a bonus added on top + I think there's like at most 1 non-official/supplied LGS per city here and the one here in Rio is nowhere close to where I live. Also for AoS I just have a couple of random thrown around models I 3D printed with my university's stuff I don't really plan on a full army
