If you can't into filament then don't cry when your prints with moving parts shatter.
>>

You talk your LGS into buying it from you, or just donate it.

You don't? It could make for an interesting secret santa gift for someone locally. But, it's just too niche and big for most people to want it or even have a use or really even want to pay for the cost of printing. You might be able to give it away as a halloween decoration.

>>96571739
A Halloween decoration is an amazing idea thank you!

And that's why I'm printing more shelving to store more minis. I'm not really doing that, just bought another bookshelf for that purpose instead
>>
>>96571880
>I'm not really doing that,
Oh good, if you hadn't clarified I would believe it 100%. Seems like most people who get a printer suddenly print everything and forget that they have traditional hobbying/crafting/carpentry skills.
>>
>>96571922
And that the material just isn't suitable for a lot of things, like a full sized bookshelf that will be supporting various weights. Pretty sure the $100 I just spent on the bookshelf still costs less than the total cost of filament and electricity to print something of similar size too. I live in a hot area with a lot of sun and it's fucking baffling how many people will print some dumb car accessory, in black no less, and wonder why it got hot enough to warp it. I get the appeal that you can print "anything" with a 3d printer, just there's a lot of reasons why we still use wood for things.

I bought a Mars 5 Ultra (for the anti-aliasing) recently and got the cheapest bottle of resin at the store, elegoo beige v.1. I've dialled down the exposure 5 times already but the exposure validation matrix keeps showing overexposed. The minis come out decent, it's just a pain in the ass to remove thicker things like mini bases even with hot water.

Any recs or tips regarding the Mars 3? I got one cheap second hand arriving soon with a decent enough LCD still on it. Thinking of churning out some oldhammer scans with it.
>>
When it comes to resin do I need something special like a fume hood or vent leading to a window or anything? Or would having it in it's own room be enough?
>>
>>96574890
Unless you are going all out don't bother with trying to extract fumes. Put it in a room with a window (preferably two on opposite ends for flow) and a secure door not prone to drafts. When in opperation just keep the window open the door closed and you should be fine. Bonus points if you have a shed and a connected mains or some form of power supply.

>>
>>96571185
Yes, both are toxic -- resin is worse, but even PLA filament will give you headaches and screw your lungs if you keep breathing it. Don't be in the same room as your printer, ideally have some way of ventilating the polluted air (open windows, careful of drafts directly on your prints, tho), but close doors to the rest of your home.
>>
>>96575610
>even PLA filament will give you headaches and screw your lungs if you keep breathing it
r-really?
>>
>>96575765
Yes it's plastic melted into fine strands. If you can smell it, you're breathing it. If you can feel it, you're absorbing it.

Nobody dies healthy and noone scores bonus points for having their body in good condition when they go anyway.
Biologically the human body seems to be capable of living to about 180 years before old age should result in death, but noone has ever lived that long because of disease, injury, etc... Prior to modern times when the environment was pristine it was injury/illness, but today modern medicine should have us all living to 180ish, problem is EVERY-FUCKING-THING is poison. Being in or around running vehicles is poison, eating food that you have purchased is poison, following almost any dietary program is poison, working almost any job is poison, etc...
The fucking 3d printer is the least of anyone's worries, so unless GW is paying you for it you can fuck off with the fearmongering.

Prolongued exposure. That's the name of the game with plastic related health problems. If he printed everyday he would be already strugling breathing wise. But if he prints here and there for much longer than a year, lets say something like 5 years, he won't see problems immediately. But he will see problems in middle age, and some nasty ones at that as they develop. Think of it like this in an autistic way:

Filaments as statistical debuffs. Every single microshard has 0.00001% chance of a creating a cancerous mutation. Hundreds of thousands of these shards are ejected into the air and into your lungs and will stay there permanently with each printer exposure. Now a few million debuffs is nothing concerning because the odds of one individual microshard activating a debuff is tiny and likely benign. But rack those debuffs up over a prolongued period of time and you will have hundreads of million shards potentially activating, with no way to remove them. Throw in urban or consumer plastic exposure like plastic thread clothes, you are going down a very nasty collision course even if you try to pull thr brakes after so many years because, again, microplastics are largely permanent.
>>
>>96576624
Why would I risk getting a pounding from GW's jews or bother making a throwaway account when you could just go to telegram like everyone does?
>>
>>96576304
>>96576661
Even with historic metal poisoning your body could over time, but very slowly, cycle out those metals and there are treatments to actually remove such metals from your nervous system. But no such thing really exists, and even then, metal didn't largely give you cancer. It gave you some other nasty stuff, but nothing on the level of cancer.
>>
>>96576715
>But no such thing really exists with plastics*
>>
>>96576304
fair, I've read that even in barely ever touched by humans places in the world now contain chemicals from the results of human activity
the air itself contains microplastics at this point
