You start by making custom markings, and custom color schemes.
If I was into T'au I'd cut up Tyranid parts and attach them to the battlesuits like gruesome trophies.

Saw your post in the other thread. I made it and didn't notice that this one was made so when I did I deleted it. But the good news is that the secret santa link is repaired.

I take it the new codexes for the Grey Knights, Black Templars, and the Leagues are currently being scanned? Or have they already been liberated? I keep checking the M3G4, but I’m not seeing them there. Also, can someone kindly please upload a copy of the Wolves codex that isn’t shit for quality? The photo compilation is hard to read.

Sorry if it seems like I’m being a grubby little gimmedat asking to be spoon fed.

Maybe if they actually made Imperial Agents a real army
>Aquilons
They're a Guard foot soldier unit, of the ones you listed they have the best chance of surviving.
>Farstalkers
They were released around the same time as the Kroot refresh. I think they have a chance.
>Chaos Beastmen
Yeah considering what they did to Beastmen in AoS I think these guys are on the chopping block for sure.

After a lot of thinking I don't want them to look too ornate with gold.
I'm currently not sure if I should use Pro Acryl's Dark Silver to make the vox caster backpacks a 'near metallic black' or to make them mostly red with some gunmetal metallic parts.

Okay so. I had a discussion with a Taufag, and he went on to claim that the only problem with the Tau society are the Ethereals, without them, the Tau could genuinely coexist with other species.

Since he is not willing to listen to the sensible argument of "if it's an alien, it should be genocided", I am trying to bring up an argument that, no, they couldn't because even if they could somehow magically completely give up the bugman mentality, they would be still inherently too alien for us.
One of the things I will point out is that for example, their "happy" facial expression is not smiling, but instead wrinkling their "nose" which is basically how we express disgust.

My question is, does anyone know similar canon behavioral differences?
>>
>>96572641

>>96572626
I was legitimately excited to see him do this project. I don't give a shit anymore. He's sucked away every tiny ounce of parasocial excitement I had for him to finish his guys. And while I don't think he should care about modeling for our sake I think he really needs to understand why some of us are frustrated. Fuck him man, his idea was cool, why couldn't someone who isn't a lazy fuck have gotten it. To me he's just that guy who comes back every 8-12 weeks and asks how he should basecoat something, dominatefag is dead

Too Word Bearer for Death Guard? I've been tooling around with Impcat to truss up some paint schemes before I sit down this weekend and paint.

I really like this scheme but after I got done I realized I basically just made Word Bearers colors with some real on the side and now I'm second guessing myself.

I still REALLY like these colors but I'm not sure if I want to put them in Death Guard.

>Okay so. I had a discussion with a Taufag, and he went on to claim that the only problem with the Tau society are the Ethereals, without them, the Tau could genuinely coexist with other species.

Ethereals are one of the main reasons why the T'au welcomed aliens in the first place.
Both Sept Tau and Enclaves Tau welcome alien races. The Tau after thousands of years are culturally accepting of aliens.
The Ethereal main purpose to to guide the T'au to their asension as the great power in the galaxy and also protect them from Chaos.
While the T'au of modern times can live in harmony without the Ethereals, as evidenced by the Enclaves, they would be vulnerable to Chaos. After all, the Farsight rebellion was engineered directly by the Chaos Gods.

>One of the things I will point out is that for example, their "happy" facial expression is not smiling, but instead wrinkling their "nose" which is basically how we express disgust.
Why are you pointing out something wrong?
The T'au lived with humans so long that they adopted their terminology and social customs

Here is an example:
>"The grubby earth caste supervisor’s thin lips curled into a smile– a human expression, an element of that species’ facio-gestural language that had deviously infiltrated t’au gestural. Though the Empire warred with the Imperium, many humans had prospered– some might say festered– across the Empire at large. In these minor ways, their customs and quirks had warped t’au culture."

>>96572768
>Nta but they sterilize humans
That's only mentioned in the tau ending of dark crusade
>the 4th genocided all non-Tau species.
The 4th sphere expansion was the one that had the event horizon experience and the demons started killing most of their auxiliaries, while their auxiliaries also ended manifesting a warp entity of the greater good, which horrified the tau. This ended up causing a shit ton of mistrust with 4th sphere vets in their auxiliaries which led to them using their auxiliaries in high casualty missions.
>>
>>96572795
the other guy is wrong, the codices that go into the vague events of the 4th sphere never decisively state what happened, only that there were rumors of tau panicking over the sudden incursion of daemons because of the great rift and executing their auxiliaries thinking they were causing it

Don't start on a big project just do something small in its entirety, in a way that you're excited to do it in the moment. No planning. No setting it down to think about it. Crush it. Move to the next thing. Crush it. Repeat.

40k xenos aren't meant to be aliens in the first place. They are just fantasy races in space.

>>96573261
Xenos are just written a different way than Imperium armies. They're high concept with a baseline explanation in the lore and then minimal explanation in the lore. Where as the Imperium (and especially Space Marines) are exhaustively detailed and documented with literally hundreds of examples of factions within them. So you can find a pre blended flavor for basically anything and have lore to fall back on to define your dudes while Xenos have three or four similar options with scant lore and only the implication that other flavors could exist that rely on OC and imagination to define and explain to your opponents. If someone comes to the table and tells me they are playing Savlar chem-dogs or Mentors or Metallica or something then I can instantly have a narrative in my mind of who these dudes are and how they could come into conflict with my Army. But when you put down a Xenos Army on the other side of the board even if you are playing Twisted Helix or Farsight Enclave or Altansar, then I barely know what they want let alone why they would be here fighting my dudes. There's no lore basis for most of it and the factions are poorly defined. And its even worse with the OC factions because now I have no idea what the hell their deal is at all. Obviously this can be overcome by talking to your opponent about their faction and why they would be here and working together to spin a narrative, but that's a level of investment. most players just do not have in the game anymore.

This edition had a lot of great model releases:
- All of Dark Angels look great. My favorites are Inner Circle Companions
- Lady Mallys is very much likeable
- Kroots were also cool
- I like new Votann scout transport
- Emperor's Children are good in a sense that they have repulsive appearance, which i guess fits them perfectly. I don't like the look of their design, but i like the idea behind it, designer is really talented.
- SoB sacrescants (well, technically, they'll be next year)
- New Space Marines characters are all cool, even Ultramarines.
- New Death Watch is above expectations
- Blood Angels Apothecary and Cap, they're cool
- Black Templars as always are on top with their designs
- Eldars - one of the best model updates not only in this edition, but overall

Boring updates:
- DG: new character with anime sword
- Necrons: Character in cyber cloak and new team of cryptech with small robots
- Imperial Guard (Horse Riders? Who the fuck wants horse riders in 40k? It's not AoS)
- Blood Angels flying units
- Space Wolves. Cool Heads, but stupid pelts and wolves.
- Knights (Chaos Knight with metal tentacles was in previous edition, right?)
- Band of Homeless People for SoB
- AdMech's servitors
- Thousand Sons robots. Just normal.

Stupid updates:
- AdMech's Stilts
- GSC Brainiac

Can't remember what was new:
- Custodes
- CSM
- Orks

I can't evaluate Tyranids as they all are the same to me, i'd like even to collect that army, but i just can't distinguish their units.

I think that's all updates for 40k this year?
>>
59 new marine kits to 104 non-marine kits
Marines are 36% of all 40k releases this edition while being 7 out of 28 factions (25% of armies). Not quite as extreme of an imbalance as you might be led to believe based on all the whinging but it is a pretty big skew.

Sell me on Iron Warriors not just in terms of gameplay but their role in the lore as well.
I have a few ongoing Marines projects with two of them being a Traitor army for 30k and a CSM army for 40k. Currently, I'm leaning towards WB for 30k and IW for 40k but I start to think that I should swap them perhaps.
>inb4 just build one army and use it for both games
I have a big collection of pre-8th edition CSM minis and I really want to give them some love but they simply don't fit 30k imo so I want to run two separate projects. They can share Daemons at least.

I initially wanted to build a World Eaters army but their first codex literally butchered them heh and after seeing the EC disaster I want to stick with one of the undivided Legions that will never get their own book so I won't lose all the generic CSM codex options in the future. I'm not a fast painter and honestly I don't like painting much so IW seem to fit my needs.

Understandable. Im currently trying to sell my world eaters now because I realized I dont really care for world eaters and was rather more impassioned with khorne. The lack of options and being directed to use angron or kharn leaves a rather sour note in my mouth.

Alright I'm almost done with my Eldar Combat Patrol, but I have a few questions

I'm leaving the heads off the Warp Spiders to paint separately because it seemed like trying get in that area where the mandibles, mantle, and shoulderpads overlap would be a pain. Is it worth also leaving the heads off the Wraithblades?

Do the little icons have gameplay value, and if so do I need two of them for a ten man unit of Dire Avengers?
>>

Not trans, but its not really popular among women.
>>
>>96573766
It really is. Reason: autism is a hell of a drug.
>>
>>96573774
They do have rules now. You use them as tokens for their once-per-game ability and remove them after triggering them.
>>
>>96573210
You will find it here:

>>

They let dire avengers flip a hit or wound roll to a 6
You get one per 5 models in the unit
>>
>>96573766
It makes sense, autism is a pretty solid middle ground between 40k fans and trans people. Trans people also tend to be artistic so they might be drawn to the hobby side. And it provides both a solitary hobby, which is good for if you feel alienated from your peers, and a social hobby which lets you interact with people in a safe space where everyone has a shared passion.
>>
>>96573774
>I'm leaving the heads off the Warp Spiders to paint separately because it seemed like trying get in that area where the mandibles, mantle, and shoulderpads overlap would be a pain. Is it worth also leaving the heads off the Wraithblades?
Between the business and Aspect helmets often taking quite a different scheme to the rest of the army, it's not a bad idea to paint them separately. I've personally done the same for the various flavours of Wraiths.
>Do the little icons have gameplay value, and if so do I need two of them for a ten man unit of Dire Avengers?
10e gave them a use. They're once-per-game ability markers, like ammo squigs or cherubs.

Those were introduced to the model range 20 years ago. Hardly a new inclusion and a single kill team is about the best most minor Xenos can hope for.

The whole rationale behind wargear being free is two-fold.

Wrong
It's Rick's setting he made long before he even joined GW. Which is why it was immediately properly established with indepth history and why it didn't have to be constantly retconned. Instead it stayed this same since RT until now
Warhammer Fantasy wasn't even a setting, just rules for a random fantasy kitchen sink. It took editions for it too take form and in spite of this it's still being retconned constantly

This why trying to draw parallels between 40k and Fantasy and decide which race became which in space never can be agreed upon. It was never how it came to be

At the same time, it messes up with lists because I do vastly prefer fixed squad sizes instead of adding and removing models, so you could cuck yourself over with the points. It should be a separate pool, like infinity, where you got a point cost and a support/special weapon cost separate.

I am honestly a bit tired of the fifteen trillion minutiae that havet to be written down and specified so someone doesn't deliberately cheese the rules. What the fuck happened to rules as intended? Yeah, a wargame is precise but there are plenty of situations were the logical option is obvious and doesn't need a faq or an extra paragraph to explain it

Depends on the play group, you'll always have compatible groups in a hobby, but the biggest thing I've enjoyed about HH is you've still got a lot of events that cater towards more narrative focus and award points more on list theme and painting, rather than straight up points for winning games.

>In general, Trazyn had not been much interested in humans. He collected them, of course, he collected everything. But he considered them on the same level as orks, or various kinds of carnivorous algae. Their spread across the cosmos had destroyed so many more interesting civilisations, and since the rise of the Emperor their culture had an utter sameness that bored him. If Trazyn cared about the mere ability to propagate and spread, he’d spend his eternity collecting bacteria. Just because a thing was successful and ubiquitous did not make it fascinating – it just made it common.

>But the Heresy changed all that. Before it was all colonisation and settlement. This, this was history, this was drama. Betrayal. Struggle. Brother fighting brother across the gulf of the stars. Empires rising and falling, heroes and rebels.

>He’d collected so much that he’d begun to worry he’d gone overboard. Especially since it hadn’t stopped. Centuries out from the Siege of Terra, and he’d continued snatching up human artefacts wherever he could. Now he not only had specimens, and spare specimens, but spares of spares.

Ledgends is a legacy format where almost everything thats had rules will get forever rules. Kind of like national dex for pokemon.

Saturnine never had 40k rules, ntohings stopping you from using them as centurions those
>>
>>96574272
GW introduced a policy that there should be a clear split between various games and their respective kits. That's why there is almost no overlap between AoS and TOW kits, 40k lost rules for most HH kits etc. It got quite ridiculous at some point - we even have two plastic Drop Pod kits right now for that very reason. I am surprised they didn't introduced Orks to 30k yet but I assume it may happen once we get new Nobz and walkers.

Seeing the reception of the respective Khorne books in 40k and AoS this year was a study in contrasts. The AoS army ended up losing models and got a bunch of rules cut or simplified from previous editions, but somehow the response to the new book was still largely positive. Perfect. Thanks boyz
>>
>>96575123
das a gud lad
>>
>>96574252

You'd generally be better off with a sentinel or a chimera instead of the horses.

It doesn't help that the krieg horses are generally considered worse than basic rough riders
>>
>>96574468
bro use a mould line remover or a hobby knife, you mangled that model asf
>>
Start weaving the threads. Make it Harlequins or Krieg themed for the new Patrols.
>>
>>96574598
>Just someone pissed off with how world eaters were handled this edition.
EC got fucked over worse. At least you can use plenty of CSM units and are better on the table. EC got fucking nothing. Even Fulgrim's release had no story or lore implications.
>>
>>96575188
I do use a hobby knife to remove mold lines. The scuffs are from sanding off sprue gates. You dont see them once its primed.
>>
>>96575201
>Even Fulgrim's release had no story or lore implications.
He will be the BBEG of the end-of-edition campaign narrative. Bet on it.
>>
>>96575217
So he can get embarrassed the same way Angron did?
>>
>>96574507
>Not sure if I want Malal to come back and be the fifth Chaos God or for Vashtorr to ascend
>>
>>96575209
So cut off sprue gates, use a sharp hobby knife. It looks like my dog chew on your model.
>>
>>96575217
>>96575223
I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the final campaign and fights against the NEW Guilliman and of course the rematch goes in favor of Guilliman.
>>
>>96575223
We're talking about the Primarch who's most notable lore moment post-daemonhood is getting a virus bomb facial from one of his own marines.
>>
>>96575255
Nah, doesn't work as good as sanding them down. As I said, it's not noticeable at all once it's primed
>>
>>96575269
>doesn't work as good as sanding them down
It works much better than what you did. What you did will be noticeable.
>>
>>96575267
>We're talking about the Primarch who's most notable lore moment post-daemonhood
Was curb stomping Guilliman to the point Eldar had to revive him. Hardly anyone knows about the bomb.
>>
>>96575321
Stopped being relevant or impressive the moment Guilliman came back.
>>
>>96575321
Rylanor is legitimately more famous than every xenos character in the setting, what are you on about?
>>
>>96575362
Objectively not true in the slightest
>>
>>96575321
okay but they revived him so that is moot. Couldn't even have the primarch stay dead, like the others.
>>
>>96575362
Where's his model?
>>
Dumb questions but can a Regular BA Captain with a Jump pack lead a squad of Death Company with Jump packs?
>>
>>96575348
>The emperor is an pseudo-atheist and hates religion
>becomes a god

>Fabius Bile is even more of an ideological atheist
>becomes a god

those among the great who deny the power of faith are all the more easily ensnared
>>
>>96575313
My brother how many times do I have to tell you its not noticeable. Do you have a problem making friends irl? Seems like you would since you have a problem listening to what people are telling you
>>
>>96575407
no
>>
>>96575348
>>96575385
It's not about "being relevant" but being "the most notable" thing. Stop moving goalposts.

>>96575362
>Rylanor
Hardly anyone besides BLfags knows about it. Don't try to pretend otherwise.
>>
>>96575439

>People were calling this shit immediately after the announcement.
More like GW did try to kill of Yarrick. People didn't like it so GW had to make that half assed "Maybe Yarrick is still alive, who knows :)"
>>
>>96575430
>gets advice
>seethes
>starts making ad personam attacks
that guy attitude
you want your models to look like shit, don't ask for advice
>>
>>96573772
Pretty healthy anon. As another drawfag, 40K is a pretty good space to be making fanart.

>>96574844
2025 has felt like the year of the horse
>>
>>96575440
BL fags are the real fanbase now and models-only should have no say in real lore discussion
>>
>>96575459
Spoken like a true tertiary
>>
new thread when?
>>
>>96575464
That's right. Third degree lore black belts are talking so why don't you get back to sparing with your buddies?
>>
Why are 40k fans always at each other's throats?
>>
>>96575440
>BLfags
Buddy I got bad news for you. Tabletop players are a minority of WH fans now.

Page 7, image limit. Lets move.
>>
>>96575453
1. I didnt ask for advice about what you gave me unsolicited advice on

2. I know better than you
>>
>>96574869
Do Harlequins have just Solitaires as characters? Feel like extra copies could be kitbashed with all the bits triple buying would in theory get you.
>>
>>96572300
The Theyn is cool.
>>
>>96572225
KT is a convenient way to flesh out factions that otherwise won't, like Mandrakes for Drew Carry or Night Lords getting two kill teams. Maybe we'll get Alpha Legion commandos in 11th edition/4th edition of kill team.

>>96573184
Hand of the Archon literally has its own datasheet in the new DE codex though, and replaced the Court of the Archon as the designated bodyguard unit.
