Dungeon World 2 released another version for public playtesting a few days ago: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Hp3f8laeI1bf-pRrwD9nXqkRxZAbB_PNWhat do you think of it?I am personally somewhat disappointed. The original playtest was actually trying to do something new with its subsystem for Defiances, its abstracted armor, and its lack of traditional damage and HP. The new version instead brings back Defy Danger (albeit locked into Constitution, despite being a catch-all move), concretely defined armor, and rolled damage and HP. I think that the new version is making too many concessions towards familiarity and D&D-ness.
>>96582367>I think that the new version is making too many concessions towards familiarity and D&D-ness.I would guess that is more profitable for the game. *World games are a lot less popular in general now too.
>>96582367Somehow worse than the original and contrarian poseurs are going to pretend it's so much better than the original, which they claimed to love even though they haven't played it recent years (or ever) but now that Robot Rapist isn't on board, they're so excited for the new edition.
>>96582367I hate this bitch like you wouldn't believe. Artist OC is cute, though.>games?Oh yeah, Dungeon World. Never liked Dungeon World, or any PbtA game for that matter. Dungeon World 2 will not change my mind.
>>96582367Didn't this guy get cancelled for virtual rape?
>>96582367>Spencer & HelenaI assumed Koebel wouldn't be involved, but I'm a little surprised and don't know what to think about Sage not being involved either.
>>96582850They're working on it without him, or anyone else who made the original for that matter. People are acting overly excited about it too, specifically because Koebel isn't involved in any way.
I really liked DW 1 (im not a PBTA purist).DW2 seems to me do just use the name for branding, but it's a completely different game, which i dont like.
>>96582367>dead game
>>96582367I just read the whole thing. I kept coming back to the question... "what the hell actually is this?" It's a copy of D&D, just with less content, silly names for common actions (lmao "bare your soul") and 2d6. Who is this for? Why would anyone want to play this?
>>96582367previous version>we changed the name of and got rid of every stat, threw out every legacy mechanic from D&D, changed every playbook, and renamed every move.new version>so all of that was a bad idea and we changed most of it backI can't take PBTA games seriously when they don't even know what they're doing with this system and why they're doing it.
>>96582367Sup 2hu.Not sure what your problem is with it. Not griddy enough for you?
>>96585126Apparently, according to the discussion over on the Big Purple, both versions are valid. It's a double playtest sort of situation. They want to see which version players prefer.Personally, I prefer the first option. The less D&D the better. If I wanted D&D, I'd play D&D.
>>96590356Dungeon World itself has too much D&D in its DNA to ever truly be divorced from it. Take too much D&D out and you've just got a weird fantasy game where you're constantly fussing with bonds and ambitions and conditions, but pretending that you aren't playing a class based fantasy adventure
>>96590556So, PbtA?
is there a better resource out there, to learn how to run PbtA than Dungeon World Guide?tried reading the original Apocalypse World but been off put by how many times sex gets mentioned
