>party splits because one of the players wants to do something intensely retarded and I did not want to go along with it>end up sitting around doing nothing for three hours>session ends before I get to do anything>other player even gets away with it because he'll throw a bitch fit if the GM gives him anything other than pure power fantasyI really played myself there didn't I. Also general /tg/ mistakes and regrets thread I guess
>>96584254If they all preferred to play 3 hours on their own, I think the problem is you OP
>checking out new lgs for first time>go to mtg night, have fun meet new people>check for campaigns on discord>new one just open one seat left, cool cool>its DnD next or one or 2024 I don’t know the name>”eh, it’s probably just 5e again. I didn’t really give 5e a fair shake so maybe I’ll give this one a try”>day of, make characters>character gen is super dumbed down, most of the time was me copying stats to paper and not actually making choices>Spell list is practically identical between classes>Class features are super fucking disproportionate, Paladin can do everything great, whereas classes like Druid and Ranger are just fighters with a spell list>Party all awkward as we’re all new to each other>6 of us so peoples actions are sped up in consideration of each other>things just happen as we walk from place to place>environment loud from two other groups playing nearby in more fun sounding campaignsMy normal group has spoiled me and I thought all TTRPG stuff could be half as good our campaigns but I see now, this is what the average experience is like and it is something worse than horrible. It is fucking boring. My mistake was paying money to contribute to the fee of booking a table for 6 sessions of this. I’ll give it one more session to see if it’s just the settling period or if it remains kinda boring.
>>96584254its better for everyone to commit to doing one dumb thing than it is for half the team to do the smart thing and the other half to do the now extremely dumb thing
>>96584284You know what that's a fair point I'm going to tell the GM that I'm dropping out of the game the next time we talk
Stick that Shillelagh up your fucking arse.
>>96584254TTRPGs aren't like real life where you have true freedom of association with the party. At most, you can replace a character that won't go along with the party with a character that will go along with the party. It's why playing the loner archetype is so frowned upon, you've shown up to a group activity to not interact with the group. They may be retarded, but you chose to play with them.
>>96584254>wants to do something intensely retarded and I did not want to go along with itWhy don't you tell us what that is?
>>96584972they wanted to fight off/destroy a major US army deployment with two guys and like 50 untrained homeless they picked up along the way in a cyberpunk game
>>96584988
>>96584330If you're bored then you're boring
>>96584254I fucking hate solo char sidequests. My last dm offered me one because I hadn't done one and told him we had already wasted enough sessions on that boring shit. If you want to have a sick solo adventure, play ironsworn on your own time. there's enough solo resources to run your group character's backstory yourself and sprinkle it into the main game. Honestly at this point, unless I got a 10/10 unicorn group, I'd rather just spend my multiplayer time playing purely mechanic based games like battletech rather than watch my retarded friends "roleplay" the last gay anime they watched while the rest of our characters are having a nap somewhere.
>>96585901Solo quests that don't happen on the party time are the best thing ever.
>>96585109"No"I have played enough abysmal con games to know the "make-your-own-fun" kind of game feels long enough at 4 hours
>>96584254>>end up sitting around doing nothing for three hours>>session ends before I get to do anythingWow OP, sounds like you should stop being a wallflower and DO THINGS. If you're passive as a player you don't deserve to play.
>>96584254>Character goes down for whatever reason>Have to sit in the cuck corner for the next 1-2 hours until someone can heal me back up
>>96584988No I'm with them. Sorry you hate fun but the problem is you for sure.
>>96584988Sorry about your GM, anon. I know mine, in the same circumstance, would put them against properly statted Cyberpunk military, who would infact brutally slaughter them to a man.
>Friend of mine is gming Advanced Faserip>I'm the only one that shows up to the voice chat, so it's just one on one>Have fun, but the more the merrier, ya' know?>Lucky and rope 2 more dudes for the next session>Friend A has played a tabletop game before so, he'll pick things up quickly>Friend B has never played tabletop before, but it's not an autism system like Mekton Zeta>Gm makes an encounter of 6 random men just going insane and wrecking things on the street>GM is feeling a bit tired, but he knows everyone really wants to play>His computer is also glitching out, but he perseveres>My pc is the first one on the scene, and in-character, doesn't know if anyone else will try to intervene>My guy gets rekt, but is able to damage one of the assailants enough>A demon jumps out of the damaged one>chuckles, i'm in danger.ogg>Other 2 finally arrive>Friend A is playing an edgy shadowman, and teleports me to a safe location, far enough away from the carnage>Friend B is playing a moisture magician>Friend B tries to help, but got really horrible rolls>Knowing he'll be overwhelmed, and that my pc is at 10hp, he decides it's time to retreat and regroup>I agree>Gm says the encounter is over then, and that these demon possessed people are now going to be roaming the streets>All of us pcs will have to plan out what to do about these deeman possessed citizens in the future>After everyone else left, Friend A said he didn't have fun. At all. And, was upset that he didn't get to do more>"Oh, RIP. Okay. We can talk it over with the gm.">Let gm know>Gm tries to talk it over with Friend A. Gm is also a bit new to gming, but he's happy to take feedback and adjust things to make everyone as happy as possible>Friend A has a melty, saying that I also played retardedly>Gm friend tells guy A that if guy A wants to talk about dumb plays, guy A could have also done a ranged shadow blast that could have hit all the assailants as well>Friend A will never play with us again
>Switch to Solo play>No longer bound to other players>Can focus the game on what I want to do>Social contract is null and void>Can play an actual protagonist without other people bitching>Only downside is having to listen to extrovert simpletons trying to explain how 'Hurr, it's not really roleplaying if you haven't got a ball and chain firmly secured to your ballsack in the form of a party of retards'Join us anon. It's better than you ever imagined.
>>96596588Damn so like what's the appeal
>>96584988So they went on a cool suicide mission with long shot odds while you crossed your arms and sat to one side like a sad, little cuck.
>>96589988>1-2 hourswhat slowass system are you playing?
>>96585901Honestly, the more OP describes this, the more it sounds like the party went on an adventure and he just sat it out and pouted cause it wasn't the kind of game he wanted. He was being the "My character wouldn't go on this adventure, dude." but he is trying to reframe it as the rest of the party "going on a solo quest."
>>96596588>Solo "play">Its literally just sitting and playing pretend with yourself>Sometimes people will use role tables to introduce randomness or unintended consequences>But really its even more sad than playing chess against yourself.I will never not make fun of solo cucks.
>>96584254>NOOOO I CAN'T NOT BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION FOR A WHILE NONONO HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN TO ME I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION AND FOLLOW THE EVENTS AND STORIES OF OTHER PEOPLE THAN MYSELF THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE NOOO I'M LITERALLY GOING TO KILL MYSEEEEEELLLFFFF>(but also refuse to say anything I will only complain anonymously online)>>96584624>I'm going to tell the GM that I'm dropping out because I am too self-absorbed to take enjoyment in the ongoing events of othersNo you won't you narcissistic little main character syndrome pissbaby. You crave vapid attention and gay power fantasies, so you'll sit your ass down at the table and wait your turn for what fucking crumbs you get, even as you seethe internally.
>>96598516Anon may be a bad player, but you're a worse GM.
>>96584254>other player even gets away with it because he'll throw a bitch fit if the GM gives him anything other than pure power fantasythis happened to my group but it was the reverse when it came to player focus>group is being stalked by a ton of orcs with an experienced tracker among them>while we're coming up with a plan to escape them involving sneaking into a nearby castle one player decides we're all being gay and declares he's going back to town>"But it's a 6 hour walk through dense forest back the way we came and it's early evening, you'll fucking die">doesn't care, goes off>the party continues adventuring for a 5 hour session with a fighting retreat, a daring entry into the castle from over the walls, a dungeon crawl and a fun boss battle with treasure being doled out after>he does L I T E R A L L Y fucking nothing for the entire game despite the GM asking every now and then if he wants to just come back to the group>keeps declining in a huff that he's going back to town>asked GM about it and he said if it was anyone else he would have just had the orcs ambush him but he was afraid of him getting mad >does this three games in a row every time we're about to get into a fight until the GM finally just removes him
>>96598566Proof?
