Aside from Sigmarines which feel like an obvious corporate mandate to have a "good guy" marine-equivalent for marketing purposes, the model designers seem to be given a lot more leeway to be creative - for good and ill. 40k's model releases are almost consistently middling and bland but inoffensive while AoS's models tends to have higher highs and lower lows.As games they're both largely garbage, but Warcry and Kill Team are both pretty solid rulesets at least.
