>>96595641>How dependable is your group? Got a regular game going or do the campaigns keep dying after a few sessions? It's weird, we have campaigns that can last up to three months but inevitably someone's schedule fucks up and the party collapses, and we have to start a new campaign after two months. It's like kalpas.
>>96595641>How dependable is your groupVery. We play weekly, only cancelled 5 times this year and unlikely that we'll cancel anymore. 2 dudes have been playing with me for like 8 years already.

>>96595641>TQThey're a mixed bag. We've currently got a group of 7 altogether counting the DM. I'd say most of the players attend every session, with 1 sometimes missing for work, 1 sometimes missing for health issues, and 1 sometimes missing because of family stuff. We're pretty good at keeping a consistent campaign running, though the current one has flagged at times. We had to change the regular play date multiple times on account of the DM's schedule. Our previous campaign ran from start to end with no problem, but it also had fewer players. The current DM attempted to run something with a couple of the same players at one point, but it fell apart due to scheduling issues.
>>96595754Rogue, not enough plate for a fighter
>TQI'm in two different campaigns currently. The first is with a paid DM and has a few skips, but is pretty consistent. The second needs some schedule reworks every now and again, but it is a free game.

>>96595641How dependable is your group?>players 1 & 2 are always 45 minutes late for avoidable reasons>player 3 is not available because he works at a bar, we play without him>player 4 is bored out of combat because his Guts cosplay no longer inspires him and he is bored in combat because he chose Champion Fighter (2014)>player 5 is the only one whose brain works well enough to remember the previous session, last week
>>96595913Specifically a Swashbuckler
Is this really what passes for an adventure's final dungeon, as designed by WotC?
>>96596574From a starter adventure that ends at around level 5? Yeah, more or less. New players aren't going to instantly know where the key objectives in the dungeon are without exploring.Notably the path you've highlighted goes directly through a cave that fills with poison gas.
>>96596574I'm sure the arrow and circle means something.
>>96595641>How dependable is your group?Two-thirds of my players live in my house one because we're married, the other because we rent a room to him, so they're pretty consistent about showing up for session.

I’m planning to put up an ad for my game on my LGS discord or possibly reddit. What questions should I include in the vetting form to filter out degenerates?
>>96598121Opinion on skub
>>96598121Is the Reddit thing also a local group who'd be playing in person? Or do you want to run an online game? Each option seems better suited for one game type to me. What kind of degeneracy are you concerned about?

>he doesn't understand predictive factors and probability
>>96598202>he's okay with>sex with PCs>sex with NPCs>abortionfaggot alert
>>96598225Never said that, but if some uppity player tries to tell you what is and isn't allowed in your own fucking game, that's an easy sign to kick em to the curb.
>>96598248Marking everything green is as sure a sign that you've got some retard who has 0 taste or ability to discern what kind of campaign he's willing to play. Enjoy your slop.
>>96598258>Marking everything green is as sure a sign that you've got some retard who has 0 taste or ability to discern what kind of campaign he's willing to play.Yes, you're right. That's exactly correct. If someone marked everything green and left the blank boxes blank, then they probably aren't that invested or interested. You've identified another way that the sheet is useful for filtering.Great job!
>>96598292Thank you! I'd just like to thank all of my friends in the thread and wotc for raping our beloved game enough that we have to opine over checklists.
>>96598297>hes friends with people at [current year] WotcI'm revoking your gold star.
>>96598121I have a google form with a bunch of questions and over the years ive probably interview 30-40 peopleOne thing I learned is some fuckers will literally lie about what kind of game they are looking for and tell you what you wanna hear but then play entirely differently. I still don't understand why
>>96598202I would steer clear of any game where the GM gives me a pozzed sheet to fill out
>>96598202>gaslight is okSounds like an excuse for the DM to not bother keeping any continuity "bro, you said you wanted me to gaslight you, why are you mad that the local lord npc keeps changing races and characterization? it what you wanted, bro"
>>96598320The system works!
>>96598367You're pretending to be this dumb, right? As a bit?
>>96598182>Is the Reddit thing also a local groupYes>What kind of degeneracy are you concerned about?Trannies, fatties, powergamers. The usual.
>>96598876Write that they're not welcome at your table, then. Though powergaming is a behaviour, so you should describe your game and say that you're not interested in running it for powergamers. That way they'll know to apply with a different gameplay mindset or not at all.
>>96598876Just make the discord icon for your game a maga hat, anyone who gets mad and leaves isn't worth it, anyone who asks about it should be told to filter out trannies and fatties
>Ready to enter my magical world, anon? hehe
>>96595641>TQMy group's been pretty consistent throughout>Monk and Hexblade ganging up on whatever big bad we fight, effectively cornering them>Bard providing us with buffs while debuffing enemies>Cleric summoning up a Spirit Weapons and spamming ShatterEveryone can make it on time, if they can't it's always do to something out of their control rather than just not feeling like it
>>96599007200 IQ plan. It will help the fatties and trans players find a group they fit better too: win-win frankly. I’m both btw
>>96599046>I’m both btw
>>96595246 #>wait, is you have the farmer origin feat, how do you have twf and shillelaghI don't have shillelag, that comes when I hit druid at 6 and everything goes online, except i'll have still the wis 17 due having taken duelist to help survivability early on

>>96599046>I’m both btwBASED SISTER
>>96599077Christ. Well, if you swap out farmer for guide, you get magic initiate druid which lets you take shillelagh without a multiclassing. but if you're dead set on it, good luck.
>>96599046>I'm both btw
>>96598202That's how you only get degenerates. Who tf wants to hear two grown men pretend to have sex?
>>96599094Are multiclasses bad now?

>>96598903People don't read that shit. It's almost like you've never run a session before
>new campaign>set on playing every tuesday because it's the day everyone should always have free>play one (1) session tuesday>second week comes>Player 1 "Uhhh I'm sorry but I've got university stuff and didn't notice!">"Okay let's do saturday">Player 2 "Uhhh I've got a basketball competition">"Alright, sunday it is" >Player 3 "Uhhh I can't sunday, I've got plans">"Fine, FRIDAY">Player 2 "I train until 8pm but then I can play">"Good! So we can eat dinner and play that night">Player 4 "Actually that day I want to go to sleep at 10"Straight from today's group chatPlayer's 4 character will fall off the stairs and remain unconscious if we play past 10, I don't give a fuck anymore. Why do I even prep stuff.
>>96600581>set on playing every tuesday because it's the day everyone should always have freeWhat
>>96600681Should be free*As in, allegedly, tuesday no one from the group has anything else to do.Game night was supposed to be tuesday every weekIt lasted one week
>>96600467Nah, you clearly just want to be cynical.I've run and played games in multiple groups for yours. What I've never done is recruited from the general public, but with one or two exceptions across dozens everyone I've played with definitely does "read that shit". I'm sure there are plenty of dickheads out there that pay no attention to the game invitation and show up with whatever the fuck unrelated character concept they already wanted to play, but such people wouldn't be welcome in a game I ran.
>>96600581You all agreed on Tuesday. If you can all make another day work, great. If not, the player who can't make Tuesday like they promised misses out and you remind the group that the game happening requires commitment from everyone or it falls apart.Personally I don't mind missing a session here and there, but that's because any of my players having a scheduling issue is rare.>Actually that day I want to go to sleep at 10Because what, they need to drive someone to the airport for a 6 AM flight? Not getting an early night is the most basic thing to suck up and deal with for the sake of the group.
>>96601051>Because what, they need to drive someone to the airport for a 6 AM flight? No, the day after he's freeIt's because he's a bitchass who only plays dnd because we do (his friends) which is why he's also the sacrificial victim whose character will get a cranial traumaI'm just pissed it's the second week and we already have to change schedule
>>96598903>you're not interested in running it for powergamersi did this and got a million powergamers pretending to be interested in more character stories and collaborative storytelling but as soon as the game start MY ELF BLADEDANCER HAS 23 AC AND CASTS FIREBALL EVERYTURN I XOOSE YES I AM A WARRIOR
>>96601350I fucking hate those autists. The type to be invited for minigolf and show up with full golf club bag.>What you dont like being efficient?Read the room you fucking autist.
Has anyone played the Greyhawk setting, and if so, what are some tips to run the setting neat and well mainly for people who are completely new to DnD? Would you use Iuz as the main villain (and tips on how to run him and make him interesting), or a homebrewn BBEG?
>Established that a minor villain can only be killed by summoning him into the place of his first death>Don't even remember why anymore>The players are currently destroying his lair and about to not-really-kill him>In order to actually kill him, they'd have to backtrack to a location where they've already done everything, and there's nothing interesting to do anymoreHonestly, I'm just tempted to say that he's dead. But I just know there'll be one guy who'll go>Hey, guys, didn't he actually die in a different place? Yeah-yeah, in that flooded village. Hey, DM, did you forget about that yourself?
I have a player whose character took a cursed item that will kill him on reaching three strikes over doing certain stuff. He probably didn't think I would go through with it since it's an instant kill, so he passed three strikes.I know instant kills are hated but the warning was right there. Should I kill him on the spot or allow him to rp a chance of getting out of it? It doesn't make sense to do the latter but still
>>96601426Playing mini golf with a full golf bag would be more difficult, if anything. Woods and irons aren’t going to be better at putting than a putter.
>>96602167Have it kill him and reanimate him as a skeleton. He gets to keep playing, but his idiocy is on full display.
>>96602167he dies but party can do quest to undo curse or revive or whateverdesign doesnt sound ideal, should have probably "lose your eyes" or anything crippling rather than death, because there's more to play with if it's not just straight up dying, but since you're committed you gotta do it, just find a way to make it fun
>>96602203>design doesnt sound idealThat's the thing, it was a funny joke item to add more spice on describing a treasure room and he still took it. The party inspected it on what it does and he still went ahead on it>>96602175Sounds fair
>>96602223>he still took it. The party inspected it on what it does and he still went ahead on itthis is literally walking on lava tier. you absolutely HAVE to kill him. otherwise the game collapses.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAoCEx_CSS0
>>96602223I'm with skeleton guy. He absolutely has to die after all that.
>>96602331>>96602610Die and come back as a skeleton or die die with no chance of revival? Player has to make a new character?
>>96602648sounds like they had plenty of warning so I reckon just kill them outright. They can always be revived later if the party are dedicated enough. Maybe if the player starts crying or something when you tell them then bring them back as a skeleton but it sounds like the PC needs to die in order for the world to stay 'real'.
Why is half the internet crying about wizards making AI DMs?
>>96602804Luddites are scared of everything
Finally figured out the secret to inserting your autistic weebshit into the games.Instead of character archetypes and powers and stuff i just do themes and narration style.I ripped off Itagaki's thing of the fight cutting to a future recollection of events by a spectator, in this case a nearby guard. The players loved it bc whenever they scored a big hit the future narrator would immediately go: "It really was quite peculiar....." And then glaze them for a bit.
>>96602804The internet's "crying" about Wizards of the Coast (WotC) making AI Dungeon Masters (DMs) comes from a mix of long-held frustrations and deep disagreements about what D&D is. The backlash centers on a few key points:1. The "Human Element" is Everything:D&D is a Collaborative Story: The game's magic comes from the dynamic, improvised interaction between a human DM and human players. An AI is seen as a predictive text generator that lacks the emotional intelligence and improvisation skills of a human. The DM is a Creative Partner: Dungeon Masters craft stories and worlds specifically for their players. The joy is in seeing players react and adapting to their choices. Many feel an AI DM would be "soulless," stripping away this personal connection.2. Mistrust of Wizards of the Coast:A History of AI Controversy: WotC and its parent company, Hasbro, have a history of controversy over using AI in their art, often denying it before admitting it. This has eroded trust. The "Corporate" vs. "Creative" Disconnect: The community feels WotC's leadership views D&D as a property to be monetized rather than a game to be nurtured. The AI DM is seen as a way to cut costs and get players to pay subscriptions, without respecting the creative community.3. Practical Concerns and "Replacement" Fears:AI Can't Handle It (Yet): Current AI technology struggles with the long-term memory, narrative consistency, and subtle social cues needed to be a good DM. An AI could lose track of plot threads or contradict itself. The Devaluation of Human Labor: There's a fear that AI DMs will devalue the hard work of human DMs and artists. This is seen as a precedent that could lead to less work for human creatives. In short, the outcry isn't just about a new tool; it's about what it represents. For many, an AI DM symbolizes corporate greed, a fundamental misunderstanding of the game, and a threat to the creative heart of D&D.
