I want to get into pathfinder 2eR, and I really like playing wizards, but Vancian casting perplexes me to no end. Is there some sort of strategy guide? Like... How many fireballs am I supposed to prepare? Combat can come at literally any moment - how am I supposed to be prepared for the hundreds of spontaneous 'roll initiative''s?Am I just supposed to load the fuck up on panic spells and fireballs and use spell substitution to cast everything as a pseudo-ritual when needed? How the hell am I supposed to account for this shit without having 9 mega lethals in the chamber just so I'm not the most useless babyboy in the world during any surprise combat? How do I go back in time and kill Jack Vance to stop Gary Gygax from reading Dying Earth and copying the stupidest magic system available?

Vance had nothing to do with RPGs and Gygax left TSR fifteen years before spell substitution was a thing.
