>With respect, Master GM, perhaps this is a player that *you* don't fully understand, either.>A long time ago, I was in a LGS. My friends and I had designed a campaign for D&D Fifth Edition. We were trying to create a story that interested the party and kept them engaged. But one player kept making absurd decisions and derailing the campaign.>So, we went looking for ideas to keep him engaged. But in six months, we never found any plot hooks that interested him. >One day, I saw a set of notes with dozens of character names crossed out. The player had been murder-hoboing every NPC.”So why even play the game?”>Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like loot. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men...just want to watch the GM seethe.
>>96607300>DnD 5eStopped reading. Whatever retardation follows was fully deserved for playing such a shitty retarded system.
>>96607300>That player who kept derailing the campaign...how did you finally stop him, Alfred?>We dissolved the entire group.
>>96607300If anyone sticks it out for six months in a game they hate just to annoy one guy giving them free entertainment, then yeah, they're definitely a clown and the joke is on them
*rogue defeats DM's broken npc in combat*>We really oughta stop this fighting, or else we’re going to miss the FIREWORKS!>There won’t BE any fireworks!>And here...we...GO.*DM puts the wizard PC in an anti-magic zone so he can’t cast the wish spell that will crash the campaign*>...>rhhaAAH!>what were you trying to prove? That deep down, everyone’s bad at RP like you are? ...you’re alone.>you can’t count on anyone these days - you have to do everything yourself DON'T WE. No matter. Luckily, I came prepared. It’s a funny setting we live in. *rogue pulls out spell scroll*>Speaking of which, you wanna know how I got these temporary hit points?>No...but I know how you got THESE.*falling rocks knock the rogue off a cliff* >oohohho..OOOHOOAHHAAHHAHAHAHAAAHAA*deus ex machina saves rogue from dying* >hahaaa..awww...auuughh....>youuu....you just couldn’t let me go, could you?>This is what happens...when a terrible DM...meets an uncooperative player!>You can’t kill me out of some...misplaced sense wanting to read me the novella you wrote. And I can’t kill you because well..you’re the DM.>I think you and I are destined to do this forever...
>>96607300>player seethes at the sight of trains>try to find the most fitting train for said player>player keeps going around destroying train tracks and train stations killing the employs>what a vile cunt..
I remember there being a lot of disruptive players when I was playing in the 2000's. People who showed up to socialize with their friends but would try to torpedo the campaign itself because they didn't actually like gaming. Which I guess I understand on some level. Going out of your way to join games just to torture the DM seems psychotic though. And it's not like it's the 2000's when it was boring to stay at home.
>>96607300Its sad that someone would go out their way for months just to ruin fun for other people.
