Let's have a critter thread.
>>96611627Would
>>96611627So that's it, OP? You wanted a thread but couldn't be bothered to contribute anything yourself. Fuck off.
>>96614002I was at work, I was just hoping the thread would be full o' critters by time I got home...Besides I did the hard part, making the thread. A lot of bravery is required to be doing that...these days.
I was at work when I saw this thread, and was hoping that OP would do things how we used to... and posted his own critters alongside everyone else in collaborative contribution......but it seems he's just another parasite begging... for the spoon......like every other posting bot... and content farmer... these days
>>96611627I don't have artistic talent so I have no visuals. But what can you tell me about this critter, OP?
>>96617761It's probably OI (organically intelligent), the google image I pulled it from called it a deericorn (deer unicorn). I would assume it has existed since the beginning of time and has great wisdom and knowledge.
>>96617686The rules for a dump thread are 3 images from the OP minimum, this is basic board culture.
>>96617928>rules The only RAW in this thread is going to me having my way with you
>>96611630/thread
>>96617781>deer unicornThat's kind of annoying for a few reasons. Antlers are very, very distinct from horns, both in how they grow and in the fact that they're shed annually. I guess it could be like a muntjac with an overdeveloped pedicle, but you'd still expect to see more of a backwards sweep.
>>96618753>in the fact that they're shed annually.WHAT?!
>>96617875What's the word?
>>96618878What rock have you been living under? Everyone knows deer (an other member of Family Cervidae) shed their antlers annually. Hell, people like to scour the woods and collect antler sheds for arts&crafts all the time. What're you, some dumb city kid or something?Horns (usually found of members of family Bovidae) meanwhile aren't shed, but are large permanent keratin structures over an inner bony core. Then you have the midpoint which are Pronghorns, found only in members of Family Antilocapridae (one which there is only one extant species, the American Pronghorn), which are keratin structures over a bony core that are shed and replaced anually.Other analagous structures in other animals are technically neither horns nor antlers. Rhinoceros "horns" aren't horns, but rather solid masses of Keratin, Giraffe Ossicone are bony extensions of the skull, Narwhal horns are just giant tusks, etc.
>>96618928>Rhinoceros "horns" aren't horns[bold]WHAT?![/bold]
>>96618928Fucking pronghorns, man. Drives me nuts that they do that shit.>>96618878They kind of have to be. The reason that antlers branch the way that they do is that new growth occurs at the tip of the antlers, rather than the base. But that requires that they be vasculated across their entire span, which is why they're covered in velvet during growth. When it's time to use the antlers, the velvet is shed, leaving only the bony core...but that means that the antler can no longer grow. The only option is to drop the whole thing and start over.
