>only 2 sets next year won't be crossover slop
the humiliation of mtg players shall continue until morale improves
>>
They're finally ruining Lorwyn, huh.
>>
>>96623388
I'd say this is bleak but this is expected and the future of Magic hasn't been bright for years and I've checked out of it completely
>>
>>96623388
which two? Strixhaven is crossover slop even if it isn't UB. it's Harry Potter at home because Hasbro is too moral to ever collaborate with JK Nazi.

btw you can use the general for this, it's being discussed ad nauseam there
>>
>>96623651
I'm surprised it took them this long
>>
Is reality fracture another Hasbro property set? What happened to EoE being a separate setting?
>>
>>96623388
they really need to launch a jokey "unannounced universes beyond" set
>>
>>96623388
>only 2 sets next year
Stopped reading here
That would be ideal.
>>
>>96623388
3 you mong, reality fracture is also in UW
>>
>>96623388
Honestly, this is a win
>down to 2 real sets a year, the average aficionado will save a ton of money
>mtg gets to keep milking coomander players and degenerate consoomers
>only comp players get fucked, but they were already getting fucked by raw incompetence
I guess I wish things were otherwise but magic has been on its deathbed for a long time (creatively), I can't say it wasn't fun while it lasted, I just wish we could get even more eldraine instead of royally fucking up lorwyn, at least then it could be a guilty pleasure instead of gore of my comfort character (so to speak).
>>
Will they ever crossover with yugioh

>they removed shaman to replace it with sorcerer because it's insensitive to native americans
They just couldn't help but pozz up this set even more. Removing tribal was bad enough but it was at least understandable since they didn't want it to be weird for creatures that wouldn't be literally in tribes, but this shit is stupid, they were actually supposed to be shamans but now it's sorcerers to avoid offending 0.0000001% of the MTG fanbase. My own ex-gf was part native American and she never said shit about the Shaman cards and she sure played a few of them in the sets she played.
>>
>>96623388

That is legit worse than I expected, and I expected disasters
I should sell my remaining cards, cash out while I can
>>
>>96626499

It's extra retarded cause shaman is a universal concept, it's the fucking general term for "guy who talks to spirits". It's not something injuns own.
>>
>>96623388
This is pathetic. I wouldn't be surprised if Reality Fracture is about UB characters entering the MtG lore or something along those lines.
>>
>>96623651
Lorwyn looks good actually

Americans tend to be really fucking ignorant and retarded when it comes to shit like this. I’ve seen an American think that having a blonde character in MGS Peace Walker from Costa Rica was racist cause Costa Ricans are baron when the country is like 68% white. Americans just tend to assume shit like that, native Americans are the only ones who practiced shamanism, South Americans are all brown etc.

What happened to this game?

>>

They did a reprint run of like 5 cards with The Walking Dead art as a fun little side project. Then it sold like gangbusters, and gears started churning in the suits' heads.
>>
>>96628169
Hasbro got greedy and started shaking down WotC to print ever more sets reagradless of quality

Does she drop into a fake mexican accent when she says "Costa Rica"?
I fucking love when they do that shit.
>>
I'm glad I froze my cube several years ago, I'm not sure how I would reason with crossover content in it. Could I at least cope that it was still high power pauper because all of the crossover slop is at rare or mythic, or did they flood pauper with crossover staples too?
>>
>>96628845
You joke, but a Barbie set is something I can actually see them doing at this point.
>>
>>96629205
Dude, there are whole sets that are Universes Beyond and they are standard legal. You think it's just rare and mythic cards?

I dropped all Wizards products when they released the Guide to Ravnica D&D book and every news since has only reconfirmed it as a good decision.

>only 2 sets next year won't be crossover slop
Reality Fracture appears to be an in-universe set. So unless we're counting Strixhaven as crossover slop, we've got three.

Boy I love playing Fortnite the Cardgame.
>>
Oh god. They've done it.
They've got me pining nostalgically for the fucking War of the Spark storyline.

Bad as it was it was still fucking Magic.

>>
>>96629448
Lorwyn elves should look like insufferable prettyboys. They have a caste system based on how good people look and "perfect" isn't even the highest.
>>
>>96624139
It has Tezzeret, kavu, etc. how is it a separate setting
>>
>>96629548
Christ is king and also your mother deserved to die. Death is the wages of sin and lung cancer is the wages of smoking.
>>
>>96629448
I don't see the problem?
The Lorwyn elves are obsessed with beauty, perfection and aesthetics. You're out here telling me that "kpop idol elf" does not resonate with that?
>>
>>96629644
>>96629664
It doesn't look like what they are meant to look like though.
>>
>>96629334
I don't want Magic in my D&D or D&D in my Magic. But in a larger sense it made me realize the only settings they'd release any content of value for would be Sword Coast (not even all of Forgotten Realms) and crossovers.
>>
>>96629664
They always had unique style, not generic le vidya elf. And hooves.
>>
>>96629236
I am out of the loop and was hoping it was chase rares and mythics without having the chaff touch eternal pauper and peasant formats. I vaguely remember some people talking about a couple of uncommons in the LotR set and I think one common was a major issue for pauper but I thought the damage was limited. I guess that I am wrong?
>>
>>96628845
A Law & Order set would fucking slap. I'd kill for a Lennie Briscoe commander.

I am not really a fan of UB either to be honest. So while I didn't really care for a MTG supplement for D&D, I do get it in reverse. It's honestly a shame that Wizards don't respect their settings. I really do miss the Magic in my Magic the Gathering.
>>
>>96629691
>I don't want Magic in my D&D
Pity. Tarkir would fit D&D 4E perfectly: Temur is Primal, Sultai is Arcane, Jeskai is Psionic, Mardu is Martial (that leaves Divine to Abzan. Well, Clerics in MtG are WB.)
>>
>>96623388
I still find it funny how someone writing gay fanfiction about Ugin and Bolas fucking completely mogged the last 8 years of MtG writing and got WotC to un-retire novels after canonizing Gay Bolas.
>>
>>96623388
Retard. Reality Fracture is an in-universe set.
>>
>>96623388
The fuck has happened to MTG?
>>
>>96629292
most coomantards are "support the artists!" types. hell, it may be retarded but I would still prefer to play with authentic cards cube, I just will not be giving wizards any more money, just buying old product for a bit to make a competent cube or two.
>>
>>96631179

>>
>>96623388
>Bull-blown Star Trek
So, this is why they warmed us up with this space-age nonsense, huh? I fucking hate the company making product choices for this game. First, they cranked up the number of products per year to unfeasible levels and burned out the people who actually make the game, then they started converting more and more of the game to media franchising garbage.
>>
When did MTG players become such goyslop eaters?
>>
>>96631504
Depends on who you ask but I'd estimate it was around 2017.
>>
>>96631504
when the majority of the old guard quit ~2017-2019ish. What remains are commanderfags who slurp up this garbage with gusto
>>
>>96631504
Don't underestimate how much of the consumer base at this point is made up of investorfags who are gonna ride the bubble the whole way until it bursts.
>>
>>96631504
I briefly got back in with War of the Spark and by then most of the art and lore was garbage focused on their stupid youtube DnD party of planeswalkers. I got tired of it quick.
>>
>>96628845
Looking to see how racist WNBA set is when all of the players are ogres and shit.
>>
>>96628845
So what colour would "That means your gay." be?
>>
>>96632868
Who quit around then? I'm out of the loop, was there some large scale exodus from wotc around then for some reason?
>>
>>96638068
that little time period was when the final nails in the coffin started being hammered in.
>standard got utterly raped and was unfun dogshit
>constant bans for broken cards
>testing team got let go or something too lol
>powercreep got exponentially faster
>modern got raped by powercreep and was basically abandoned by wotc
>commanderification in full swing with every set featuring 30 legendaries
>legacy died irl and it became totally unaffordable to play
>several terrible sets back to back
everyone I knew quit around that time and it was also when /mtg/ went full doomer and never recovered
>>
>>96629664
>beauty, perfection and aesthetics
on their own standards, not by human standards, thats why it looks like shit, as if they are trying to sell magic to BTS fans
