New to 3d printing and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, have had several failures like this and tried with a few different models. My printer is a QIDI shadow 5.5s and I'm using lychee to make the print files and the resin I'm using is sunlu solid grey water wash and resin

I want to modify a head STL.It is wearing a gas mask, but it has exposed ears. I want to deform the ears so that they register as "balaclava ear bumps."What's the best way to go about accomplishing that in Blender?
>>96626832Sculpting -> blob / smooth tools
>>96626832I would get different ears and mix them in
>>96626825For bottom layers, set the light off time to 30 and the exposure time to 10 (or whatever works reliably; I use 6), set the lift height to 10 and the lift speed to 60.For normal layers, set the light off time to 6, exposure time to whatever you've calibrated (4 seems high, but I've no experience with water washable resin (which you shouldn't use)) and lift height to 8.
>>96626270Longtime FDM Printer here, occasional metal caster, looking for something to make statue parts with, I hear the metal casting resins work well.Anyone here have recommendations for a moderately larger size printer, resolution can be on the lower side given I don't have vacuum casting equipment to make the most of it. Or at least models I should avoid on the used market would help.

>>96627904>>96628280Thanks guys. I wish I could report back on whether this was successful, but when I tried to do some Blender sculpting the whole PC crashed. I think something is wrong with my video card so I won't be doing much STL modification. Thanks anyways.
>>96629652just upload the head and give a link
>>96629652Use meshmixer
>>96629595Kill yourself baneblade schizo
>>96629895The thing is that I don't want to take the risk of the owner finding out that I'm distributing files he doesn't want distributed elsewhere. So I have to respect his wishes. That's why I've only been able to go with vague descriptions of the model itself.>>96630314>use meshmixerThe way my Blender crashed was in a way that brought the PC down. Something is wrong with my PC. But thanks for the suggestion anyways.
>>96629595>Just so the baneblade schizo looks even more like a dumbfuck and the stays biggest joke on /3dpg/ right nowfix'd
>>96629595You know what? Yeah everything on telegram is in fact from a 4 year old reddit torrent, nothing new on telegram, just 4 year old reposts. Go ahead and use the high quality video game model rips from reddit.
>>96632386Let him go. He is completely right. There is nothing on telegram that cannot be found in that mega torrent and everyone needs to shut the fuck up and stop looking elsewhere.

So I'm a /toy/ soldier in addition to a fa/tg/oblin; I'd initially gotten into printing for tabletop stuff as most of us did, but I've also been interested in printing toy parts, which spiralled into trying to make full action figures held together with Hobby Base joint sprues. Then I discovered Resione's Tough74 and TH-BJD resin (these Marines are the latter; they're the same stuff in different colours) and found it's actually possible to make poseable figures entirely out of the stuff with no non-printed parts at all. (It's also really tough and very well suited to tabletop minis, incidentally.)To cut a long story short, I'm thinking of making some 1/18 scale 40K figures to go with the JoyToy range using the stuff. I wanna make some non-Primaris Marines for sure, but any other ideas? I'm thinking some Eldar (Craftworld and Dark) would be fun.
>>96635459Necrons might be interesting, but will you try doing stuff like Dreadnoughts too?
>>96635559I certainly could! I want to start off with infantry-scaled stuff to begin with as this is still quite uncharted territory, but it's certainly not outside the realms of possibility. In terms of bigger things I have a few ideas:>Castraferrum Dreadnought (Mk. V and Mk. IV)>Wraithlord>Carnifex>Deff Dredd/Killa KanI'd probably stick to "fits on a 60mm base" for big guys, though if I ever get an FDM machine or if I find myself feeling extremely daring (or find a good way of breaking down the hull into smaller parts without obvious hard to fill seams) I might try my hand at making a Rhino chassis.Just out of interest, what would be the limit for non-printed parts necessary to complete a really big figure (like a Dreadnought)? My current test models have been 99% printed, with 1mm wire pins for joint reinforcement, though I've been trying to phase those out, but those have been "regular" size. I'd like to avoid requiring any components that can't be very easily sourced (simple machine screws, wire, magnets etc).
How's Anvil Digital Forge's STL quality? Is Multi-shell a meme or is it actually a good feature to look for? And what other modular humanoid STL makers are there?
>>96636788>s Multi-shell a meme or is it actually a good featureDo you want to take pieces off the file to bash onto another? that makes it easier. But if you're just printing as-is, it makes no difference.
Is Warhammer 40K 28mm or 32mm in scale? I need to know this if I'm going to be scaling my minis for print.I keep getting conflicting answers, and some answers just don't feel acceptable to me, like "either!"
>>96637661You get answers like "either" because neither is really true. It used to be about 28mm, but things have steadily been increasing in size, and not just the marines as they went primaris. I think current catachan are ca 30mm to the eye. So if you have scans of uncertain scaling that you want to get right then you basically have to get measurement of those specific minis to use.
>>96638005>current catachanCadians, I meant cadians.
Did anyone get the guard leman russ tank?
