>>96635620>>96630676They should be mysterious but not good nor evil, maybe the ethereals are just really weird hyper accelarationists with weird goals for their kind that eventually culminate in a utopia with all other races as slaves. They sure seem a lot less selfish or eccentric than imperial bureocrats/rulers in addition to being greatly skilled in not only statecraft but martial arts, technology and many other fields. I think ethereals just havint charism and an entire cultural structure built around them alongside the pheromones should be enough to justify their attraction, I always thought that weird tau origin story of them unifying the other casts from endless war seemed like a bullshit excuse to make claims about the tau's nature that they were all violent and civil war inclined and that the only way to fix that is to give all their decision making to a more sane caste, with the Farsight Enclaves being the chance for Farsight to prove their claims right or wrong depending on how they end up, the reason they don't interfere is that in case they inevitably end up dying out or getting eaten by tyranids and the like the ethereals can point to his betrayal and solidify their structure. The real shit moves in their writing is Farsight wank and the weird calls they make to the ethereals being warp inclined or chaos daemons that seem to permeate to "it was all le hecking chaos all along" bullshit.Phil Kelly's Damocles Crusade retcon is absolute dogshit btw
