If Gandalf is Aasimar, Aragorn is a half-elf (his longevity, and the fact he "looks" elvish in Rohan and Gondor but looks clearly human in Rivendell and Loth-Lórien).I would not consider Gandalf a Wizard, but a Cleric. Maybe Radagast is a Druid, maybe Saruman is a Wizard.I disagree about the Alignment. All members of the Fellowship are Lawful Good.

Maybe something that allows for mentor/understudy dynamics by making one strong, but stagnant and the other weak but quickly catching up (Fire Emblem style)

I just need to bitch about my latest session. We're running in a westmarshes game and the DMs have been tracking a party trying to toss a ring away, you know that it's all anyone ever talks about. But my group were tasked with defending the city from a huge group of orcs and evil men, as a distraction for the ring guys to do their thing. So I show up with my crew to defend the walls, we get tasked with firing a catapult at the enemy, and before we fire our first shot a giant wyvern comes down and destroys it. I get knocked over the edge, and take lethal fall damage. What the fuck was I supposed to do? Disobey orders? It's like the DM just wanted an excuse to not play with us so he could get back to his REAL game of the halfling and his wizard pal fucking around in the city doing realpolitics. Fuck my life.
