Why is WotC so averse to republishing shit from the 3.5 era? They have done a lot of ancient modules, a lot of "inspired by" ancient modules, and a lot of new ones, but almost none from the 3rd edition. A modern Savage Tide or Age of Worms would kick ass. Where is it?
>>96640277>republishing shit from the 3.5 era?Because they want you to purchase their newest 5E slop. Why is this so hard to understand?
>>96640291They get cash either way, genius. It's probably LESS work to update a module than to write one from scratch.
>>96640277>A modern Savage Tide or Age of Worms would kick ass. Where is it?It's owned by Paizo, a direct competitor to WotC. It also uses the d20 License, which doesn't cover anything in 5E. It also uses proprietary trademarked monsters that WotC owns and paizo does not. Legal issues, anon, that's why.
>>96640628So in short Savage Tide and Age of Worms are now in legal hell because WotC and Paizo had a messsy breakup.Bleak.
What classics are there from that era? Sunless Citadel, the Paizo APs, any others?
Bro, that’s from the “problematic” era of DnD. Modern WoTC doesn’t like to acknowledge that. I mean, there is *zero* LGBT representation in those books!
>>96640277>commission new adventure>pay one author>commission rewrite of old adventure >pay old author and guy doing rewrite
>>96645700>I mean, there is *zero* LGBT representation in those books! Why are you lying? There's a bisexual and poly elf angel girl dating a twink wizard and an Amazon barbarian in Savage Tide alone
>>96645779You're responding to a culture warrior. He probably hasn't even read a single traditional game in his life, let alone played one.
>>96640277It's not that hard to convert from 3.5E to 5E. You're just dumbing down all the stat blocks. Any GM worth his salt should be able to do it without needing to spend $100 on a "special KS limited edition boxed set remaster of a classic".
>>96645914The difference in scaling rates with enemy design overhauls lead to a pretty significant number of cases where randos can fuck it up spectacularly. You can "probably" tackle this in a single update booklet for the edition transfer.
>>96640277There's a fan conversion to 5E right here: https://www.enworld.org/resources/age-of-worms-adventure-path.1254/
>>96645700not very long after this the Shaman type was banned for being racist. nothing Hasbro does is about true representation or uplifting minorities. they see a marketing advantage in playing to groups that experience discrimination but it's a cynical money-driven exercise. think of them akin to the far right exploiting and winning the culture wars in America despite having the most repugnant beliefs.
>>96640277They don't convert and update modules from that era because that was the cruchiest era of D&D and 5e is barely mechanical at all. Whatever created the tension and excitement of those adventures cannot be expressed in the current edition. You don't do the same things in 3.5e and 5e the games are totally different despite sharing a name and lineage.
>>96645779Wait really? Back in the 2000s???
>>96647182yeah, queen morwel (ruler of the eladrin) is bi and into threesomes with her bf and gfthis is a plot point in Savage Tide
