There isn't really a good design space for them because they added those stupid fucking disintigrators and they would have to rework those things because even with breach 4+ plasma would be better than them against most targets. Maybe have disintigrators do some kind of status. Since 2 D1 plasma shots is just going to be better than 1 D2 disintigrator shot due to the strength disparity. They should've made disintigrators some really rare and powerful archaeotech shit instead of just "yeah here's a vet squad all equipped with them so they're just S4 bullshit guns we have to make design space for"

Honestly, I'd make them infinite. I know some retard's probably going to come in screaming about AP2 plasma but honestly even then I don't think that'd be appealing as a one shot weapon with how much durability has crept up these days, it's not like 1.0 where 10 plasma guns can take up anything less than cataphractii or a sicaran. I prefer this iteration being a more consistent generalist weapon that does well as anti horde, anti marine, anti dread, and anti-light vehicle for a decent cost anyway, just again not that appealing when you've only got one shot with it.

Disintegrator weapons are not a general purpose weapon. Not by a long shot. They are all highly specialised towards a specific target, and not even good at killing it. Which is made even worse by Overload meaning you'll kill almost as much of your own unit firing the damn things as whatever they're aimed at.
The rifles are only remotely effective into 2 wound 3+ save models.
The blasters are just worse heavy disintegrators, and shit at shooting most 2+ save models with their puny str 5 now that even terminators have toughness 5.
The heavy disintegrator is only 1 shot when moving, somewhat okayish when shooting terminators but expensive and the model firing is more likely to kill themselves than the terminators it's shooting at.
No one is using disintegrator weapons, the risk just is not worth their damage output. And there are way safer, more versatile and more effective options. Even the bigger plasma blast weapons are better than disintegrators.

Destoryer squad with jump packs, armored with bolters.
1 in 5 can take a heavy D gun with sponson web or Grav gun or Rocket laucher with rad grenade

Sgt comes with bolter, bolt pistol and chain sword, can take sgt melee weapon, replace his pistol for a officer pistol, and replace his bolter with a combi bolter

Destoryers in the unit can replace their bolter for an astarte shot gun.

A unit that literally just dumps in and glank glank glanks at units then jumps out.

D guns are very clearly designed to be anti Vet weapons, 2d, AP3. The only other thing that also use D guns.

imo they should change breaching to be a plasma-only special rule that always improves AP on a 4+ but the increase to AP changes based on the weapon
so some plasma guns never get AP2 but have a more reliable AP3 on overcharge, whereas heavier plasma weapons will have 4+ AP3 without even needing to overcharge.

All of these should be Drain (X) where (X) is the number of Game Turns they take to recharge after being fired, during which they may not be used as part of a Shooting Attack including as part of a Reaction.

Drain (X) should be set at the Model level, so that when you select a weapon subject to Drain (X) for that army list entry, the weapon inherits the Model's Drain (X) value, allowing the same profiles to be used in different applications representing the size of the power generation available to each Unit.

Furthermore, Antigrav Models should be able to use the Pop-Up Attack Advanced Reaction which allows them to ignore intervening units and cover for LOS purposes at the cost of making their Shooting Attack as Snap Shots.

even if I can handle my army and keeping tabs, there's no guarantee my opponent can on his, and games where you have to constantly remind your opponent what they can/can't do- and worst of all, if they misremember something of your army and suddenly feel cheated over it

I like one use gear and abilities, but big games with lots going on is a nightmare to track with reloads
unless it's like a historical and that coordination is a core mechanic of the game, then it's really fun

The only real downside is that bikes can't claim or contest objectives. But they're very solid mobile shooting platforms.
Outriders are stacked with special rules and can basically shoot twice each turn, and jetbikes are like HSS but way faster. And the bike command squads from the legacies rules are very scary, even more so with WS. Buff them with a stormseer and they can get a guaranteed charge turn 1 even inside the enemy deployment zone. Just gotta make sure there's a tactical squad to follow behind and stand on the objective that the bikes cleared.

So how do I make the dark angels work?
I know I need to lean into their detachments and specialist units. I think marduk is pretty good, so I'll probably have him and 5 cenobium in a land raider. What's the prognosis on interceptors? Would 10 in a drop pod work?

Interemptors are incredibly lethal but incredibly squishy, unlike their more expensive Pyroclast cousins, so big squads of them do want a transport that stays on the field. You hop out of your Land Raider/Termite, burninate a squad and then Reposition back inside if someone moves within 12", and a combination of blocking sightlines with the vehicle itself and thinking about the fields of fire of the enemy units that can shoot you from outside 12" lets you keep them alive a lot longer.

I've been tempted by eight of them in the Outflanking land raider, since you don't care about charging anyway. Same for Death Guard multimelta/heavy flamer squads, Pyroclasts, etc.
