>>96653238Are all legendary creatures the future of the metagame? Its seems like vanilla creatures are a thing of the past, they aren't even relevant in limited anymore
>>96653273If it is, then it pretty much puts and and to spamming four of a kind of any useful creatures, but then again I may not always want to play commander when I'm trying to play standard.
Anon clearly didn't check to see if there was a new thread. And the other anon was stupid as to create a new one when the Thread hadn't even reach page 6.>>96652530>>96652530>>96652530When that one dies lets migrate to this one.
>>96653366Didn't Check Anon here, That's my bad.To >>96652530 we go...
>>96653366Fick dich sagt!
>>96653238Take this thread down right now!I'll call my Daaaad!!
>>96653273The retarded amount of common legendaries in the spiderman set, and the amount that will certainly going to be in avatar and every other UB set are designed specifically to kill all formats other than commander. MARK MY WORDS
>tier 1 standard deck is $800+>tier 1 pokemon deck is around $100Fucking how bro
Meanwhile, at WOTC HQ...
>>96653238>Sophia gets dogged out edi....>Foot kicking intensifies.wtf is that fishy smell?
>>96653453Because WOTC hates its playerbase. They're reprinting schedule seems to be specifically timed to fuck over the people who invest in cardboard.
>>96653238Bro like is this a mental breakdown or something?Like what the fuck
>>96653634I'm gonna have a mental breakdown if this UB bullshit doesn't stop sometime soon.
>>96653615I just wanna play a game and I only buy singles; only open packs I draft/win, and buy the occasional edh deck. Honestly looking at the price of Pokémon singles for tier 1 decks I can buy an entire competitive deck for the price of like, 4 shock lands. May as well try it out.
>>96653650I think pokemon has more kids playing, the vibe is probably very different
>>96653669>>96653650It's not as interesting strategically, but it is pretty fun. If the strategy of magic is what you like, Pokemon may not be for you. If you just want to play with trading cards, then Pokemon will be fine for you.
Are any bans likely to happen in Modern soon? Thinking about getting back in but I'm not sure whats safe at the moment.
>>96653453people actually play pokemon? i thought it was all just collectors and scalpers selling to collectors/other scalpers
>>96653847Alternate arts and specific Pokémon they goon to (like Charizard or Umbreon) are what collectors lust for. Unlike in MTG, the base versions of cards are ultra cheap.ie; a t1 deck right now is Dragapult EX. The base version is $2.50. The alternate art version is $85 raw, $230 graded at a PSA 10.
>>96653238You forgot the thread question.
>>96653977People goon to Charizard?
>>96653847Pokemon to be honest feels like a more interactive game than mtg right now, and pokemon people stay more time searching their decks than playing....>>96654705I bet that if you search Charizard dildo in google there will be at least one image of the thing.
>>96653453i remember when you could get a budget deck for $30 and have a reasonable chance against the top dogs, now "budget" decks are pushing $100 and are way outclassed by tier 2 whatever last sets' deck was.
>>96653836At this rate the bans aren't the dangerous part, it's keeping up with new releases outclassing your deck. My advice: build a battle box or a cube and play that instead.
>>96654705I do (female only)
What is fun deck to play in a way that let's everybody know I am going to die and I am here to take them with me? I was thinking about Scorpion God with all the massacre creatures, death wielder Liliana and -1/-1 effects I can stuff in, but I am not sure it would have the desired outcome.
>>96655176Death's Shadow and Suicide Black and Ad Nauseaumpay life for extra power, then either pay more life and almost die, or use a cheap and big beatstick to make the enemy die
>>96653238In 2027-2028 every set is going to be UB, isn't it?
>>96654480Ok, how are these for questions:Why is Sophia such a horny bitch?orWhy is the United States Army so turbo retarded?
>>96653411Cope and Seethe.Also, Checked
Is Lorwyn Eclipsed gonna be good or suck?https://scryfall.com/sets/ecl
>>96655690I would have liked the incarnations if they could have been blinked like usual while keeping the effect
>>96655690It looks like it's going to be fun! It's got some neat ideas and great style, although I really hope they don't overdo it with the DFCsplus, this >>96655771The incarnations not having flash and not being blinkable makes them really rather mediocre.Still, I'm looking forwards to it more than anything else in 2026 by a long way.
>>96653273>Its seems like vanilla creatures are a thing of the past, they aren't even relevant in limited anymoreI remember sleeving up Savannah Lions in type 2 and feeling like I had an upper hand on everyone except the suicide black guys, I genuinely don't recognise the game anymore. Every time I look at current MtG I feel like a dementia patient waking up in the hospice and again being confused why they aren't in their house.
>>96655873A while back a friend of mine was talking about how fucked Standard is and I brought up how creatures are retarded overtuned now. I said "remember when Savannah Lions was relevant?" He said "This is Savannah Lions now, old man."
>>96655915It's 1W casting cost in Mtg:Arena. Hah.
>>96655915I have no idea what "the city's blessing" is, is that entirely explained on common and uncommon cards or is it just explained in a blog post/reminder card/prerelease package? I remember people joking about the complexity of banding for quite literally the entire second decade of the game, and the big thing came down to "sure it makes perfect sense the first time you play with it but you can't put the reminder text on a card and so people won't be able to pick up a deck and play it." Looking at that card makes me sad, I remember thinking that white was eating good when we got Isamaru in CHK. Something I have seen each time I have come into these threads once in a while is people bemoaning how weak White is, I remember the joke used to be that everyone in the hall of fame had a white weenie top and people acknowledged that for all that people complained about combo this, control that, The Rock, RDW and WW were the most powerful evergreen archetypes. I guess when everything in midrange gets undercosted and pushed, decks with the old 1-2-3 curve can't eke out enough of a lead early.
>>96656100city's blessing is exactly what it says in the reminder text, it's just a state that permanently activates when you have a card with ascend and 10 permanents in playwhat it does is entirely contextual to cards with city's blessing-based effects, it's not a thing on its own
>>96653238More like Sophia getting anted with that tiny ass image I can't even read properly.
>>96653238More Universes Beyond nonsense???? Already???What the fuck is this Scooby Doo rip off why do they keep doing these crossovers with anime no one has ever heard of
>>96656100nice blog, didn't ask tho
>>96656108So it is a change in player state that persists beyond loss of the card with the text for it? I am sure it would make sense after playing with it once or twice (I vaguely remember one of the Conspiracy sets from just before I dropped regularly playing the game having a similar concept) but I was under the impression that R&D were loathe to implement burden of memory mechanics. Emblems were okay because they were tracked with a token, but from your description it sounds to me like "the city's blessing" might as well be "you have token XYZ applying to you until end of game." Is that accurate?>>96656135You are most welcome anon, I was under the impression from looking at some modern Magic cards that people here are used to reading multiple paragraphs of text.
>>96656151to be clear, "the city's blessing" essentially IS an emblem with no effect in and of itself (no I don't know why it isn't an emblem) that you get for having a card with ascend and 10 permanents in playsome cards do extra stuff when you have the city's blessingand, officially, you track it with this token
>>96656132What are you talking about
>>96656176That makes more sense, I presume it behaves like an emblem in that it can't be removed, can't be "switched off" with suppressing effects, it is basically a vanilla emblem where the only thing that matters about it is that CARDNAME is now present for the sake of other rules text referencing CARDNAME? That at least makes more sense than the dungeon thing I saw a while back, but it still feels like a far more parasitic mechanic than things that WotC designers used to complain were terrible (Arcane comes to mind as a point of comparison, I remember that MaRo would never stop shitting on Arcane in his design articles, despite the worst Kamigawa set in draft, block and type 2 being the one he led).
>>96656179Something that annoys me is that Magic has a lot of different arts for tokens because a lot of tokens were consistently used across series for years.Look at 1/1 Humans, 1/1 Goblins, 2/2 Zombies, 3/3 Beasts, 1/1 Spirits, tons of variety. Treasure, which they pushed really fucking hard, has a token every set. This added a lot of flavor and customizability to the game. Now, every set has all these unique tokens that are used across archetypes but only in that one set, so both the heroic and evil faction in EoE make 2/2 Robots but there is only 1 robot token, and 2/2 Robots are probably never going to appear again. They don't do blocks anymore so it's not like there will be different 2/2 Robots in EoE2 a couple months from now. No, we're doing Spiderman and Avatar and whatever the fuck. You're just going to be stuck with this 1 2/2 Robot art forever being generated by cards with a completely different aesthetic.
>>96656354MaRo bitches to this day about Storm to the point where the official scale of broken faggot bullshit is called the Storm Scale but he created Companions which is the single most broken mechanic in the entire history of the game and it isn't even fucking close and he gave it an 8 on his shitass scale because he can't take the embarrassment that he fucked up worse than anyone could ever have fucked up.
