When it comes to fantasy giants how big is too big? And what's the minimum size for them to still be 'giants'?

For gaming, 2 meters to knee height are the best range. Doll sized and smaller gets into magical realm territory. Gentle giant women are my fetish.
>>
In my setting ogres go 2.5m-3m tall, trolls 3m-3.5m, and giants 5m-7m
>>
>too big
When their size creates a challenge impossible to surmount.
>minimum
At least double the height of the largest non-giant.
>>
>>96653534
certain racial advantages like being BIG or flying can easily make a character pretty OP
>>
>>96654075
Only if your ruleset is shit.

>how big is too big?
Significantly taller than a giraffe (5.5m) due to the square cube law if on land, or significantly than 30 meters (the length of a blue whale) if aquatic (like a giant deep one or storm giant)
>what's the minimum size for them to still be 'giants'?
2.5 meters, although their muscle mass should be taken into account at this height.
>>
She has to be big enough she can suffocate at least a 6 foot tall man by shoving him into her cooter and using him as a tampon. Also her period should be mistaken as a sudden stream running red, a bad omen for the small people.

>Max playable size
Common or maybe a bit smaller
>Max size that's contestable in regular combat
Stone/Forest
>Max size contestable with special actions like climbing them, higher ground, special/siege weapons, or high level spells
Cloud

Anything else in the OP and larger can be fought with traps, careful planning like bringing a building down, plot devices, etc.

you either have to find a way to create more situations where flying or being big can be a major disadvantage or really find something arbitrary to give races that are mostly at a disadvantage something so you feel more compelled to choose them

Degenerate but okay this once.

In the club that I'm part of, I've managed to play a 140ft tall kaiju whilst everyone else is just a normal dnd character.
The DM had to get creative, but it's worked fine so far.

Can't fit inside dungeons, so it doesn't ruin combat.
Able to provide easy, long distance transportation for party. Can also carry lots of supplies.
Useful for negotiating/bluffing/intimidation, but that gets equally balanced out by the hostility that people react with (especially near cities).

It's certainly a different experience, but it's been fun and has worked out fine for the campaign so far.

I guarantee you your DM hates you.
>>
>>96660840
Not really. He thinks it's funny, and said it allows him some opportunities for the story that would have otherwise been impossible.

To be fair, would say 15-20 feet being the best giant size for fantasy I think. Still is reasonable for one or two smart high level adventurers to kill and will still be a massive threat for town guards and all.

NTA, but:

>In my setting ogres go 8' 2" - 9' 10" tall, trolls 9' 10" - 11' 5", and giants 16' 4" - 22' 11".

I was going to ask this in worldbuilding, but I want to add giants of roughly Stone or Fire size into my world, but I don't know if I should make them nomadic or not, and I don't know what weapons they would make to fight a world that's smaller than them. I mean, have you ever tried to smack something with a hammer that's shorter than waist height? The ergonomics suck! The only thing I can conceive is a type of special club that after ten minutes of brainstorming I realize is just a fucking hockey stick.
Ranged weapons are surprisingly easier to conceptualize: a crossbow would just be a ballista, a handgun just a cannon, and I suppose you could have a ladle like implement where you scoop up a swathe of earth and chuck it like it's an atlatl.
>>
>>96653534
>minimum
2 meters
>maximum
3 meters, past that point it's just gross and weird
>>
>>96653534
A giant is at minimum clearly beyond the size of normal people. About 10' in height. The biggest giants I use that are not supernatural are 40' and live off sea food since it provides the protein and calories needed for such size.

12 to 15 ft is my preferred height for playable giants and mecha.

What's so degenerate about wanting to be shoved face first into a humongous girls butthole?
