New picture of the Starcraft Miniatures Game from Archon Studios. These miniatures look sick, and I'm definitely feeling the hype for the game. They're attending Essen Spiel this month, the first day is tomorrow and it continues onto the 8th. I'm hoping we'll see some more miniatures and hopefully some gameplay so that we can get a better grasp on what we're looking at.

Looks pretty great desu although it's funny watching all these pc games I never really played because we were not that well off become tabletop games.
>>
>>96679289
Didn't even know this existed wtf I adore Starcraft, need to check this out!
>>
>>96679289
These look cool for sure, but unironically this is 2 fucking decades late.
>>
is it less than GW shit?
>>
>>96679420
It's likely going to be around the same price point but people will tout it as being "Cheaper" since armies are smaller (Even though that GW themselves introduced game modes for both 40K and AoS that literally only require a single starter box to play)
>>
>>96679420
They said it should be cheaper than a combat patrol box.

>Archon Studios
Dropped like orbital bombardment.

Elaborate without hyperbole.
>>
>>96679465
Ah, we're vague-posting I see...
>>
>>96679420
Historically Archon has put out quite affordable stuff but:
>this is a licence deal which might push priced up
>it is a blizz product and they can't stop fucking up and losing millions even when the stakes are zero

this is definitely a shill thread - however I like what you're selling post more

>(Even though that GW themselves introduced game modes for both 40K and AoS that literally only require a single starter box to play)
Yeah but those are dogshit and only really exist as a gateway drug for people to play twice before buying more. Only to learn the full game is also dogshit.

them Hydralisks are pretty long

Anon, Essen actually starts on the 23rd. But nice picture nevertheless, where did you get it from?

Yup

this
who even gives a shit about Blizzard these days
the company is long dead and rotten
and the starcraft setting specifically was irreparably damaged starting from Starcraft 2
>>
One thing I loved about Starcraft 1 was how dissimilar the main units that were the face of each faction were, even in power. Marines existed somewhere between Zerglings and Hydralisks, but the Zealots were stronger than all of them.
It really was amazing at the time to see factions being so very distinct in both looks and gameplay. Even in games that tried to make their factions distinct from eachother, most units had exact counterparts. Starcraft 1 was great and revolutionary on so many fronts.

Brood War was peak. I'll always remember the mission where you steal the Battlecruisers. And it was nice seeing the friction between the two Protoss cultures and how the mainline Protoss struggled to accept that they were entering a new era.

>archon
lol prodos shell company spotted

let me guess, they are woke

classic
>>

no... they are a rebranding/shell company of a polish scammer company
>>
>>96681959
>and how the mainline Protoss struggled to accept that they were entering a new era.
Nah they only struggled because Aldaris was right and matriarch was mind controlled.
>>
clearly Tassadar has failed us
>>
Starcraft lore somehow is even more shit than 40k's.
>>
Show Siege Tank you fucking cowards
>>
>>96679418
Yes this was my thought exactly.

Call me in 2004 when I might have cared.
>>

No I think what he means is Archon is basically a sister company / shell company for Prodos.

Prodos got their start with Warzon Resurrection but didn't price the Kickstarter correctly. They lied to customers repeatedly (e.g. they secretly sold product to selected, trusted stores before shipping anything out to backers) and there were big delays getting product out because they didn't have the money.

They did the Aliens kickstarter and it was a disaster, but I don't know what exactly happened. I think Fox pulled the license and they didn't want to admit it?

They did some cash grabs with Warzone and showed off some hard plastic terrain before vanishing. They also tried to introduce this weird South African faction to Warzone but the license holder told them to fuck off (these figures would later be released as 40k proxies by Archon).

Around this time they started to launch kickstarters under the names of other companies - one of these was Archon. They would launch several of these and it seems to me that they were using each KS to pay off the last.

Eventually, Prodos died but the hard plastic Warzone terrain would eventually resurface as Archon's new

In short, there was a lot of fuckery.

BUT nowadays Archon do make great stuff at reasonable prices and I actually do recommend their kits. I have their Xenodragon and Mammoth Walkers, they are excellent.

One thing that has really benefitted the industry is that Archon hire out their services to other companies, letting them move their plastics out of China up the quality (Mantic kits got a lot better once they moved away from China and started using Archon).

Archon plastics are generally very good. I have some issues with Jarek but he seems to really know how to cast stuff.

>YT video from a guy who worked on Warcry talking about game design
>some random dude in the comments claiming to be a dev for the SC game

If this is a shill campaign it could be organized much better

Wasn't there a space game that uses a similar mechanic? Table starts empty and then spaceships start warping in on all sides.
>>
>>96684663
A Billion Suns. You buy your (mercenary) army during the game.
>>
>>96684601
When I read your comment I *knew* it was Jerak.

He's not just a dev he is the owner of Archon. He's not a shill he's just... kind of a sperg. And a bit of a manbaby. When some guys in our store broke his WZ:R playtest in half he had a big sulk.

>back then PC-gaming was hobby for the well-off and you could collect miniatures with pocket change
>now miniatures are a luxury hobby and PC gaming is fairly cheap to get into
>>

Oh, neat

>no... they are a rebranding/shell company of a polish scammer company
Fuckin' hate when that happens
>>
>>96679289
Im excited to see if they manage to come up with an actual new wargame with interesting rules. If it turns out to just be warhammer reskinned then I probly wont buy it. I like starcraft, but pretty much every 40k counterpart faction is cooler.
>>
>>96680507
Don't know about 40k but the AOS one is better than the "full game"
>>
>>96679418
>Blizzard made official Starcraft minis before you remembered you wanted to make that Starcraft Marine meganob conversion.

I wouldn't mind owning a couple just to have or to use as proxies. I'd love some high quality Warcraft models

You sound like a shameless shill.
They clearly went with the cartoony colorful warcraftish aesthetic of SC2 which sucks, because SC1 aesthetic was far superior, especially in the case of the Zerg. They were creepy killer locusts from space, not a bunch of goofy fart bugs. SC2 got marvelslopped and completely lost the horror vibes. And don't even get me started on the noble savage good boy dino world Primal Zerg, that was pure cringe.
>>
>>96679289
Looks cool,
Can't wait to use pirated stl's as proxies for my Tyranids.
Hope this game doesn't die

I fully expect they'll seize whatever opportunity GW's green gives them by brutally killing themselves.

so much this
also like half of the named cast was unfathomably cool
something SC2 never manages to replicate, even with the same characters
