My LGS has a small scene, but it's mostly KT and Blood Bowl, and Necromunda is the game for me. As such, me and my campaign group mostly play at one dude's house, said dude being the one with three 3D printers and enough free time to churn out painted terrain more or less continually.

Sometimes I'll play at my local GW, but these days I mostly play at my friends place or at the university wargaming club. Pre-coof the GW near me had a much larger active playerbase of specialist gamers and I was playing there a lot more often. Back then the redshirt there was very enthusiastic about organizing leagues and campaigns. I still have my KT dice bag and 2nd-place metal from their KT18 league, those were good times.
You'd think they'd want people playing in-store to show off to new customers that there's an active community to play with but they just don't seem to encourage in store play as much these days, the GW in town actually moved into a more spacious location last year but their table space for playing got cut in half and they replaced the sweet realm of battle boards they had with cardboard mats.
>>
Is it just me or are Dire Wolves (Mordheim) awful? They're very expensive for a dog that can't run. Although they do have a really long charge distance, that doesn't matter so much because charging ahead of your warband is bad strategy, it doesn't have the initiative for around the corner charges, and if it doesn't win its fight on the charge it's probably going to lose over the course of the next couple of rounds.

If it were cheaper maybe it'd be a good pick, but when it has to compete with Ghouls? Who are cheaper, have T4 and two attacks out of the gate, and can still run/charge 8 inches? I can never justify getting them for my warband. Especially when Dregs are already your designated "stay out of real fights, do the objective" guys and I can drop the same amount of money (actually, slightly less) on three zombies if I just need more bodies.

This. Havent been able to start a new league because everyone wanted to wait if the new rules would come out soon-ish. And it'd be nice to know if GW is going to kill BB like they ruined MESBG. I can finally be completely free of their products if BB gets dumpstered. All the rumours about team changes are nightmare fuel.

Shockingly some people care more about the gameplay of a game than the setting, and at least from the preview art most of the minis will likely be fairly generic fantasy fare.

I'm a kill team player that's looking to get into warcy with some slaneshi daemons and mantic abysal dwarves that I'll run as Helsmiths of Hashut when their rules drop (I'll base them accordingly)

I've read through warcrier but was wondering if anyone had any resources that showcase what an ideal terrain setup looks like. I have a bunch of GW 40k terrain pieces for kt and I'd like to scratch-build everything I'd need for warcry as a project. How important are large line of sight pieces and vantage points for warcy?

The original starter set ruins are what the game was designed around and to this day are still the gold standard for Warcry terrain. You want a good density of terrain that is ideally at least one additional story - models with the fly and mount runemark both have in-built cost adjustments that are balanced around the assumption that boards will be somewhat dense and that there will be a reasonable amount of verticality.
>>
>>96720270
Just to get started, how would a bunch of rock formations like pic related work? Maybe with wooden ladders and planks running between a few of them
Castle Hill, New Zealand FWIW
>>
>>96720303
For sure, something like that should be just fine. A bunch of my own terrain is just some rock formations with flat tops for putting minis on and they work well.

Because faggot a lot of Siggy stuff still looks great. Cursed City has a lot of sculpts for Mordheim for example, including a kislevite noble, a necromancer, a priest of Morr, a sister of sigmar, an elf ranger and the best witch hunter sculpt GW has made. And Radukar's side was practically a ready made Undead warband out of the box, with extras.

I'm curious to see the sculpts for this one. Seems like beastmen are getting put in so that'll be exciting to see.
>>
QRD pls, how old and nu Necromunda differ in two words, and why the nu one is considered bad?
Is it somewhat worth to buy? Some factions have sublime minis.
>>
>>96721337
NU is a lot easier to have everyone become super powerful, not as scrappy crackheads fighting it out. That's raw rules, but lots of people play Nu with rules that make it more like the old one.
Even in the core rulebook it suggests rules for it
>>
>>96721337
Oldcromunda had the gangs a lot more generic, they were the same thing with different skill table (and weapon selection in some rules variants). No house-based special units or weapons.

Also Nu gets a lot of flak for having its rules spread over a shitload of mini-expansions and DLC. IIRC some people made effort to collect the rules in one place/file like a battle bible, but I don't know how complete or current it was.

That said, if your buddies are OK with playing Oldcromunda with Nu minis, that's an option too.
>>
>>96721327
>this is what siggy piggers consider the greatest model ever
>>
>>96721759
I said greatest witch hunter sculpt, not greatest model.
The greatest model is the plastic Giant kit they released in like 2005. That thing is a joy to build.
>>
>>96721896
NTA but
>greatest witch hunter sculpt
Is a bit much. He's fine but ridiculously tall with exaggerated proportions that would make a space marine blush. Dude's hat is as tall as his arm is long.
>inb4 you just hate him cus its AoS!
I don't think the setting is amazing or anything but it's perfectly serviceable.

He's the best tank and distraction carnifex for Outlaw, as Outlaw you didn't get much choice for bounty hunter either. And his fee is very fair. If you look at the other 250+ hire.
>>
I am once again asking for GW to release more information on BB S3
>>
>>96718553
Almost certain it'll be another repetitive slop that got boring real quick. At least the designer of Silver Tower was well aware of this so he gave people 40+ playable characters as an incentive to replay the game.
>>
>>96721620
The rules bloat isn't too bad with Necroraw having it all.
The expansion stuff is optional, so generally core book (2023 not the old one) + House Of book is fine.

But the core book layout is horrendous. I have it but tend to use Necroraw for everything
>>
>>96713330
Does the new Blood Bowl starter actually come with all the special players you need for a "real" team?
>>
>>96726874
No, buy 3rd party if you want a full team in one box, GW doesn't do that.
Greebo and Punga have good selection for that, just 2 of over a dozen good names.
>>
>>96727017
What ever happened to Black Scorpion? They were making some cool teams but apparently stopped?
>>
>>96728227
I'm not familiar with them, looking at their site though I see a section for fantasy football which is completely empty.
I'm betting they got threatened by GW and decided they couldn't afford to try and make a fight of it. Many such cases.
>>
>>96727017
>Punga
I've been waiting more than a year for them to come out with pt2 of their "Snowy Giants" halfling team, which is female halflings with pine treemen in a non-goofy christmas theme.
As is there is only 9 halflings and 2 treemen which is well short of playing even a starting team. Really good sculpts though and I'll buy the physical minis as soon as I can do the full thing even though I have a 3D printer.

Can I get a quick rundown on the new Chorf BB team?
I hear they got nerfed pretty badly compared to legacy rules. But how fun are they? We're going to run a B-tier team league with stuff like Black Orcs and Nurgle, so I was thinking Chorfs would fit there perfectly?
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOBcxXtrUbM
Warcry's lead designer dropped some insight into the game and its development on his new youtube channel. There are some fascinating stuff in there for those interested (i.e., the game originally used varying dice for combat rolls based on models WS).
>>
>>96728507
Some teams are missing extra positionals that you'll want to more of, making a second box almost mandatory. Some boxes, like Norse, have every positional, but you may want to buy their big guy as well as a few more lineman depending on what roster you want for a league
>>
>>96730656
nurgle, blorcs and chorfs are all top teams.
>>
>>96730878
Top teams in what, the amount of top keks to be had? They're rubbish teams but that's the entire draw.
>>

What are the changes you are hoping to see?
While the vast majority of people will move to S3 regardless of whether its actually a better game, it might help you inform yourself if you set out your own expectations in advance.

I am wanting Wildly Inaccurate gone which is already confirmed.
I'd like the tiers tightened up a bit, especially seeing Nurgle, Black Orcs, Nobility and Chaos bumped up. Even simple changes like a -5k cut on some players, cheaper Bribes or reducing the cost of TRRs.
I'd like to see Chaos Renegades continue to exist as well as their Big guys picking up primary mutations, the Thrower not sucking so hard and maybe the Goblins increasing to 0-2.
I'd like the Doom Diver to be un-fucked and for secret weapons to be declared at the start of a drive, so you can elect to use them as Linemen until they are needed.
>>
>>96731211
NTA but I want them to remove Renegades, OWA and Underworld. They're just badly designed soup teams and I'd rather see totally new team concepts in their stead. Could have some sort of 3 big guy team inspired by renegades which isnt just a boring slop soup.
I want dwarf linemen to lose tackle.
I want chorfs to have easier access to mutations.
Old teams with super limited skills like chaos should get reworked to have positionals and skills.
And rerolls should generally be a bit cheaper for a number of teams.
>>
Does anyone know where to find PDFs for Armies of Lord of the Rings and the new ruleset? It's crazy that I have to spend another $100 for new rules and army lists.
>>
>>96731296
>remove Renegades
Oh yes let's remove a team made by the man who invented the fucking game to represent one of the first lore teams in the game.

Dont even bother, the game is utter shit now. The listbuilding is the most restrictive drivel in any GW game and has utterly killed many communities that flourished under the previous ruleset.

Oh I fucking hate when alternative wargames do this. It's especially popular among obnoxious x28 games.
>>
>>96731613
KT is shit but it doesnt pretend like it has any listbuilding. MESBG is tragic because the new edition took a fat shit on the greatest listbuilding of any wargame and replaced it with this modern abortion that's just spitting on what came before
>>

>>
>>96731966
Oh I care deeply about the game. But not about the fucking lore.
>>
>>96732049
No you don't care about the game or you wouldn't be whinging on about how it needs to become a balanced meta for better competitive play.
That's not what Blood Bowl is, go play chess.
>>
>>96731927
I'm just getting into MESBG, building and painting some Isengard dudes. What is the main difference between old and new edition when it comes to listbuilding?
>>
>>96732263
From what I understand they restricted lists to being more true to "scenes" from the movies. So you can't have any models or wargear that was not present in that specific scene that represents the warband.
>>
>>96732263
In the previous edition you could build factions in a very free-form way. Very few restrictions. Could just pick the heroes you wanted with whatever wargear you wished for. There were a lot of options that didnt have specific models which encouraged converting.
What I miss the most is that factions could be allied into each other to make cool combinations. For example khazad dum dwarves and lothlorien elves. The alliance matrix heavily discouraged super lore breaking combinations though, so you mostly saw things from lore or very plausible combinations. For example my personal favorite was Lothlorien Numenor. Or from super wacky variety Isengard Moria (which wasnt very good but a ton of fun).
Now the factions are incredibly restricted. Cant even have Lurtz leading armoured Uruks for fucks sake. And in tournaments just by seeing the faction you already know what the player is running pretty much to exactly, the creativity is nonexistent.

Also, I frankly hated the Legendary Legions which they started pushing in supplements. Faction variants with restrictions and a page's worth of bloat special rules. Now every fucking faction is a legendary legion with asinine rules. Gone are the days of an entire faction's special rules being just "+1 courage".
>>
>>96713330

Yup, they play a lot of Blood Bowl and Necro at my LGS. Hell, the nearby GW store even does Blood Bowl.
