NTA but from a lore perspective the transition from Vampire to Mage isn't as far fetched as you'd think. The journey of self-mastery you undertake in Cursed No More would probably leave "enlightened" enough to awaken as a Mage, by turning your Beast into your an Avatar. Get an Affinity for it from your clan and train, have someone with Ancient in it train you, take the Forbidden Tome and learn from it, taking Knowledgeable for you Sire might allow them to train you to Ancient level, and maybe Path to Golconda's Equilibrium (I don't know if it allow you to train without a guide like an Affinity, it might just unlock every disciplines and you still need a guide to get better).
All the training requires you unlock the obscure discipline first.

Their power gets dispersed into creation, and they naturally grow weaker with time because all the magical shit in the world fades. Melkor poured his energy into the physical world to control it and made him weak, but some Elves theorized that he could've renewed his energies over time.

Technically, Valar and Maiar can live forever as long as they stay in Valinor doing basic shit. But the One Ring of Sauron was made to stop his diminishment. And it worked. If he had taken back the One Ring at the end of the Third Age, he would have been just as powerful as he was when he lost it at the end of the Second Age.

Also, the most common way for Maiar to lose their powers is to invest it into strong bodies beyond the abilities of mortals (Balrogs) and get killed.

Years of the Tree: as an Elf, flee westward as Melkor/Morgoth wants to torture your entire species into Orcs, then spend centuries getting better at whatever craft you like until Melkor ruins it all. As a Vala/Maia, run eastward to save the elves from Melkor, ending in the battle of Utumno (imagine an inversed Minas Tirith going into the ground, and the bad guys live there)

First Age: Mostly elves killing each other, getting killed by Melkor's minions and sometimes foiling Melkor's plans. All this shit is because an elf made the most beautiful jewels in existence and except the Valar, everyone wants them. It all ends with the War of Wrath, an army of Valar, Maiar and Elves exterminating an army of Orcs, Trolls and Dragons so hard the entire continent sunk into the sea.

Second Age: just watch the Rings of Powers, or read the summary. It's basically Sauron manipulating everyone, getting wrecked, surviving and rebuilding, thrice.

My sire is certainly incredible, with intelligence and grace beyond measure, and yet with a carefully crafted charm that endears her to those who should know better. Millennia old and her blood gifted by Haqim himself, she ranks among those hallowed blood gods. Her feat of so thoroughly becoming beloved by the Kindred of this place is all the more terrifying for it. Why she has embraced me is a mystery, as is her obsessive and possessive nature. Why she is not already Prince of this city is another such mystery, though it likely has to do with the plays for power I have only inklings of. In her haste to do so, she even alerted hunters and and took me through conflict. While she heaps affection upon me, and I have promised to return them, my concerns make any long-term plans difficult. It is hard to say whether I am simply some new bauble to be admired and then discarded.

Sire is an obsessively protective 4th Generation Methuselah: there’s very little danger I would face unless I got myself in a stupid situation. They’re also an influential and beloved member of the local community, so I can benefit from that as well. While the embrace was out of love, they do seem to have plans for me. I essentially have five clan disciplines, all for the low price of not having a reflection, tasty blood & a more primal Beast. Character is almost purely combat-specced, contrasting a highly-social sire. Brawl + Protean Claws + Quietus Poison is a fun combo; Potence + Fortitude + Obfuscate on top of that means there’s some staying power and a way to get the jump on others. Sire should take care of all the social aspects, since I won't be too great with that at the moment, and I can focus on surviving my first nights.

Very broad here rather than deep, which is quite possibly unwise given how power scaling works. Nevertheless, fairly sturdy against injury or manipulation, and I have some decent capacity for physical action and general awareness of my surroundings. Obeah also grants me a bit of my most-favored capacity, that being to heal others. Though the blood cost of that is far from insignificant.
