Cross posting this.>>96751359It really doesn't.The quick English lesson for you since you only have a rudimentary understanding of the language.By pulling words out of sentences you can determine what purpose they have in the sentence.Compare the following.>every instance of this card can...use one of it's effects per turn, and no others>every instance of this card can strictly use...it's effects per turn, and no othersThe second sentence does not help indicate how many times it can be activated."One" is a limiting adjective that applies to the word "effect"."Strict" is a descriptive adjective that applies to the word "use". ("strictly" being an adverb further indicates what's being modified)Another way of looking at it is seeing which word actually achieves what you want to convey with the sentence. If you have to keep using "one", it should be clear which adjective is more meaningful and which one is useless.I don't think any of these meaningfully help shorten the length of verbally saying the acronym or phrase because it's a similar amount of syllables for all of these. It only helps when writing them. With that in mind one of these is objectively worse by leaving one of the words completely unabbreviated and attempting to do so puts it at odds with an existing acronym.

>>96752597We already know what's in it, it's yusei's deck (has the latest cards from the structure), aki's deck (probably everything but the DOOD cards) and crow's deck. It also has a copy of meowls but we still don't know if its 1 per box or per deck, if it's the later then it's worth buying.
Has anyone here run Argostars? If so, can the archetype be condensed nicely down into an engine?
I don't think I'd be so hooked on this game already if you fucks hadn't been so helpful.Odion was sick as hell but I ended up getting attached to Ice Barrier. Giant ice dragons are exactly my jam. I wanted to go in brewing my own list from scratch, to learn different aspects of the game as I went. Pic is what I ended up at. Hopefully my first foray into deckbuilding isn't a total trashfire. The goal I settled on was getting out a Lancea, protected by Deep Sea Prima Donna + Gymir Aegirine. After I learned about the absolute fucking throbbing thundercock that is Nibiru, the point total I was using generically on Pot of Greeds swapped to a Toadally Awesome package. Some opening hands can achieve Toadally Awesome + Symir + Lancea/Primadonna, which seems pretty good.Backup Full Armored Utopic Ray Lancer XYZ plan by Winds over the Ice Barrier whilrwinding off two Ice Barrier tokens to a board of Lvl4 Mirror Mage + Speaker + Revealer, plus the relatively trivial to summon Never 4: Stealth Kraken. It's probably total shit, but it sure feels fun! Back to shitbrews, lads. But one more question:If my opponent tributes my Lancea to SS Nibiru, how many of Lancea's effects do I get? Do I get both the search (For them SSing) and the extra deck summon (For an opponent's card making it leave)? Just one? Neither? I couldn't figure out this interaction for the life of me.
>>96755863Posted an earlier version, from before learning about Nibiru.
>>96755863>If my opponent tributes my Lancea to SS Nibiru, how many of Lancea's effects do I get?The only effect you get to activate is the summon from Extra Deck, also I don't know if you misspoke or not but Lancea's other effect summons as well, it doesn't search. Also some deck building advice from someone who plays this deck as well, Prima Donna is only really worth playing if you are also playing the Water Barrier Statue which obviously isn't feasible in Genesys. Spooky Dogwood is also generally terrible (more like Spooky Dogshit amirite) and I know you probably want to run it because it's Water but honestly you should cut that for a free handtrap like D.D. Crow or Skull Meister that actually does something, I would also cut down on the Butterfly Fish as it's kind of a do nothing card.If you do end up cutting some of those main deck Water monsters I would also not run Moray of Greed and if you don't cut any of them I would still go down to 1 Moray max since its activation condition is kind of steep and running too many copies can be bricky. Fishborg Harpooner is a good Water extender I like to run because it's a great thing to have in your hand after resolving Crocodragon, especially if you hard open or draw into Warlock, Defender or Raiho but is by no means a mandatory include.
>>96755962>Spooky Dogwood is also generally terrible (more like Spooky Dogshit amirite) and I know you probably want to run it because it's Water but honestly you should cut that for a free handtrapWater Tuner specifically, and the points were just sitting around.>D.D. CrowIn the Extra Deck!>Skull MeisterHadn't seen that one yet. Added.> I would also cut down on the Butterfly Fish as it's kind of a do nothing card.Discard to Icejade > Syncrho Icejade+Token for Gymie (That works right/) > Icejade entered GY = Discard card to return Fish so you have an extra non-Tuner for more syncro fuel or a body to tribute to Mirror Mage. It's also a "free draw" when SSing Frog or Doll if you don't go that route, keeping your grip full for Moray of Greed. I thought it filled a surprising amount of roles so deserved a utility slot, I was considering dropping it down from 3 copies though so as I find more good options that will likely happen.>If you do end up cutting some of those main deck Water monsters I would also not run Moray of GreedYes absolutely, Moray feels amazing (Maybe not as a 3-of as that seems to leave you brick prone) but only with the current Water saturation the deck has. For that reason yeah, 1 copy feels like a good suggestion.>Fishborg Harpooner is a good Water extender I like to runI was running that earlier, and the negate feels great, but it got devoured by Ice Dolls (Similar thing but free search and gets eaten by the Toad) and the Frogs. Drop some Morays and a Fish for them maybe?>With CrocodragonAh yeah, good point.>especially if you hard open or draw into Warlock, Defender or Raiho Those kinds of draws are why the Moray is around. When Moray is good, it's good. The question of whether 3 copies of it solving bricks overcomes fewer copies resulting in different bricks is an odd balance. Thanks for the tips!
One quick thought about Fishborg,It appears to just be able to sling out ANY Water monster? Of any level?Like I could just slap a Medium of the Ice Barrier into the deck and toss it out with the Fish if I wanted? Seems like that might open up some lines.
>>96756019Correct.>>96755995>and gets eaten by the ToadI'm not sure what you mean by this but you can't use Ice Doll to make Toad since he needs level 2 Aquas and Ice Doll is regrettably a Spellcaster.>Discard to Icejade > Syncrho Icejade+Token for Gymie (That works right/) > Icejade entered GY = Discard card to return Fish so you have an extra non-Tuner for more syncro fuel or a body to tribute to Mirror MageYou might be a bit confused here, or maybe I am, but when you discard Butterfly Fish for Aegirine, he adds himself back to hand so you can't then use the effect to summon himself because that activates in the GY. Additionally you can only use one of those effects per turn, not both so if you discard him again after adding him back to hand you can't use his effect to summon himself (and I doubt I need to tell you that he's a terrible normal summon). This is what I mean by a do-nothing card like yeah he adds himself back to hand but all you are going to be doing with him is discarding himself again and I guess when you add up Aegirine and Swap Frog and Revealer and Croc that's a lot of discards but you most likely aren't going to be using all those effects in the same turn anyway and if you get to go full combo you won't be lacking for discards anyway.
>>96756150>You might be a bit confused here, or maybe I am, but when you discard Butterfly Fish for Aegirine, he adds himself back to hand so you can't then use the effect to summon himselfYou just choose to not add him back to hand. It's a "You can" effect which appears to be the wording for optional effects?
>>96756150>I'm not sure what you mean by this but you can't use Ice Doll to make Toad since he needs level 2 Aquas and Ice Doll is regrettably a Spellcaster. Also, ah yes. The incredible Aqua/WATER distinction has tripped, I'm sure, yet another lost soul. I think Ice Doll is a strong include though as it can find many of your most relevant starters.
>>96756163>You just choose to not add him back to handOk fair enough. I still don't think it's worth running though.
>>96756193>Ok fair enough. I still don't think it's worth running though.Honestly in tests, it feels like it smooths out a ton of lines. Maybe there are better options, but it absolutely feels like it adds more reliability than Fishborg. Between it, and Revealer replacing discards by banishing itself from the GY, all those discards you're asked to perform actually aren't that hard to fill. You should try it out.
>Looking for more options>Find this cheeky POS that can convert your Ice Dolls into Toadally Awesome fodder while blowing shit up.I love him.I do know this deck has little hope of actually competing, and these ideas are probably shit, but the weird "Solving a Puzzle" kind of deckbuilding is very weird and very interesting.

MORE QUESTIONS:Once a Chain starts resolving, you can not add more things to it correct? Like, you can't go to Chain Link 3, resolve it to 2, then add one more thing?Or, worded differently, if an effect triggers during a resolving Chain Link, it starts a new Link after the 1st resolves, rather than refilling the current one?

>>96756873If you're interested on water-based shenanigans, i can share my coelacanth turbo deck with you.The goal of the deck is using coelacanth's summon from deck as many times as possible in order to end turn with a ridiculous board. It lost a lot of pieces over time (apollousa, borreload savage, baronne, 3 crossout), but i kept modifying it after every banlist and it still works, but it's less impressive than before. It CAN negate DRNM/droplet on resolution though, something that very little decks/cards can do.
>>96757025>If you're interested on water-based shenanigans, i can share my coelacanth turbo deck with you.Do it.
>>96757034Give me a few minutes to import it to edopro.
>>96757034Here it is.As mentioned before, this deck's endboard was a lot more impressive before the banlist indirectly raped it, it could summon just about every generic boss monster plus dragite (spell/trap negate) and toadally (through bahamut shark), and you didn't even go minus sometimes, as leaffish could banish itself to recycle 3 and draw you a card. It's 100% a table 500 petdeck, every combo needs 2-3 specific cards and 2 discards, and it is incredibly weak to handtraps, but resolving the combo is fun, my opponents sometimes didn't even attempt to dismantle my board. It's not identical to my old lists by the way, as neptabyss and poseidra didn't even exist until iirc last year.
>>96757160>It's 100% a table 500 petdeckThose are always the best.
>>96757160Oops, there should be one less silent angler there, i also run fishborg launcher for when i have to start the combo through harpooner and coelacanth, i also just realized that there's a better generic link-2 now because it lets me summon neptabyss through masquerena.

Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem or Chaos Ancient Gear Giant?
>>96751788Hermos is so absurdly better than the other dragons, no joke. Anyway, if you guys were to reboot this anime pr create a new season what would you do?My take:1 - I think a new anime won't make sense unless a good part of the game s rebooted too - you NEED to have monsters stay on the field, you need a game less complicated and slowed down. 2 - Ditch the cyberpunk future - set it in modern day or some years in the past along the OG. Focus more on the mystical side of the setting, maybe we could learn that other cultures like vikings and ancient greeks were also having shadow games with magic. At some point you could drop the holograms and straight up say that people are manifesting monstes and spells with the power of their souls. 3 - ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE, be a story first and don't fear darkness - The OG had soul because it was first and foremost a story about a young boy making friends and develping confidence with some horror elements. The truth is that kids LOVE a bit of horror, so many modern horror games (like 5 Nights) have massive kid fanbase. Just look at us, we all started watching it when we were kids, and now we are 30 years old and still talking about it. So just plan the arc of your MC along with the supporting cast and focus on telling a good story with card games used as a framing device. 4 - Have the cast use more than one deck per season - make deck building an element of the story - everyone uses a bunch of archetyes (that are still more or less related).5 - While card games are the way to save the world and etc - you don't need to make the world itself revolve around card games.
>>96759388You run both in a AG deck, but the later is more useful since it gets to swing at everything and deals piercing damage.

>>96760116>you can ONLY do ONE type of summon per turn. Just one special, one normal, one Fusion summon and etc.You still haven't learned how this game works? A fusion/ED summon counts as a special summon. Do you see the problem here? And don't back pedal claim that's a feature because if you knew what you were talking about with these changes you would have made the comment of separating them, indicating that you actually thought this through.I've seen your proposed changes in previous threads about vanilla monsters and I still think your design is shortsighted and incomplete. I think you're on track towards something workable but you really need to put more effort into it.
>>96760377Nta but wasn't fusion summoning like its own category way back then?
>>96760393No, it was still a special summon. Rulebooks would mention this and explain that the monster could not be destroyed by Trap Hole and that you could still normal summon after. But the materials and Polymerization were destroyed instead of just being sent to the grave.
>>96760377>I've seen your proposed changes in previous threads about vanilla monsters and I still think your design is shortsighted and incomplete. >>96760393NTAIt has basically always* been considered a special summon by game mechanics. Anything not a normal or flip summon is considered a special summon.Or to quote directly from the official rule book V3, page 25 under special summons. (This is among the first rulebooks we got for the TCG at least according to yugipedia and what I can find)>A special summon is when Fusion, Ritual, Magic, Traps, or Monster Effects are used to place another monster on the field.I'll even go one step further, the Duel Master Guide DVD says to go to the rule book in order to know more about fusion summoning. So that's also out. I even own a copy.*: There's the REALLY old rulebook but you might as well consider it entirely fictitious/nonofficial because it doesn't even refer to them as summons. Am I correct in assuming that, besides the standard Eldlich core cards, you can just throw in your choice of traps to complete the deck? That's the impression I'm getting from looking over decklists.
>>96760682If you're truely a separate person then I do apologize. I've multiple of these suggestions posted in conjunction in the past, including and notably the vanillas stuff. I can't say I'm a fan of the changes but I'm willing to entertain the hypothetical if the amount to something cohesive.
>>96760746What would you suggest for changes in vanilla monsters? I think they seriously need something to give them a reason to be used instead of effect monsters - and it being tied to spells or traps doesn't count.
>>96760568>>96760713Got it.Probably was some warped childhood memory of mine
>>96760742For the most meta-relevant Eldlich builds, you run the standard Eldlich core, a handful of floodgates, and traps to taste, or hybrid with Odion. For fun builds, I've enjoyed mixing with Zombie World, Mayakashi, P.U.N.K., and a Synchro engine with Assault Synchron, Hop Ear Squadron, and Magicolloidal Sol.If you want to fuck around with random bullshit traps, I recommend Labrynth or Paleozoic instead.
>>96759566>Ep.1Protagonist and friend watch a professional duel play out. A "show off what skill they can eventually reach" opener, which is weirdly non-standard for Yugioh. Of note, while the two duelist debates, they don't frequently explain the effects, only doing so when prompted. Instead, the pros are more focused on announcing phases and just the fact that cards activate. The protagonist and their friend are clearly losing track, mirroring the audience, but they are drawn in by the Clash of Titans spectacle, and both buy a structure deck and episode ends on them preparing to duel.>Ep.2The two duel. They suck at it. Both their duel disks are going off about illegal plays like not being able to summon level 5 or higher without tribute, and the two frequently misplay. Both frequently having to read off their cards because neither know what they do, showing immediate contrast to the pros in the prior episode. To really emphasize the misplay aspect, the protagonist loses because they forgot about a facedown they had when putting their deck back together. Maybe use that as the stinger.>Ep.3The two sit down with their cards and actually try to learn their decks, reading cards then and starting to devise combos. Sone instances where they think they are cooking, until the other person points out a lock or the difference between cost and effect when going through the rulebook. Most importantly for the future, the two have fun coming up with nicknames for different combo lines, though their lines are still weak. Ends off like Ep.1 with them prepared to duel.>Ep.4Already visible improvement. But the most relevant part in this runback is that on frequent occassions, the non-turn player will say something to the effect of "Oh, I know! You're doing <combo nickname>". This allows skipping the card explanations, though it does still come up to show they are new. From then on out, loose structure is a prep/research opponent episode and then a duel one.
>>96760757Why do they need to be relevant?
How do I even find myself playing paper yugioh? I plan on moving to a new state and am hoping to at least integrate myself into a community with paper yu-gi-oh, but I've never really played yu-gi-oh beyond master duel. Do I just pop in to a lgs and see if there are any pick up games or something?
Today a tranny saw me using a "risque" token and called the owner on me, who told me to use something else because it's a family friendly store. I wasn't playing against him, he just walked by my table and immediately went to bitch. The owner is actually a friend of mine, and i know he was just messing with me because the fucker has a lewd mat, but he doesn't want the literal shitstorm that trannies can rain down upon you.Still, it sucks that i will now have to sit in another table far away from him if i want to use my titty dark magician girl mat and close token.
>>96761020Why have them otherwise?
>>96761847I used this Vanguard card as a field center for a while, until someone started complaining that it was "too risque" and from a "pedo game".
to what extent does or should a player narrate what he's doing? do you just say the name of a card you activate or explain "searches for..." or "special summons a"? there are archetypes nobody has heard of before so it's not clear if you should read every card one at a time or let your opponent summarize or what
>>96761847It's fascinating how it's always a tranny. Everytime people complain about Traptrix being "problematic", it's because of a tranny.
>>96762116Say the actions you are taking. If the opponent wants you to stop and clarify a card, elaborate more.
>>96762116Communication is very important in this game, since quick effects are a thing, and so are effects that trigger at the start/middle of the battle phase, standby, end phase, etc, doubly so if you're using or playing against table 500 shit, because it's very likely no one has read those cards ever.Basically, always explain what you cards do and say "response?" after every action. To give you an example of why this is important, i play psychic pile and emergency teleport, being a quick play spell that summons a monster, can be used before the main phase. Why is this relevant? Because if i use said spell in the draw phase, i can avoid both droll and veiler. Doesn't save me from ash, fuwalos and impermanence, but hey, at least i'm insulated from 2 other handtraps.

>>96764085You totally pulled that story out of your arse but hey, nice mat.Speaking of which, is there any support for Dark Magician Girl that does NOT turn your deck into a Dark Magician deck?
>>96761925That's exactly my point. You don't.They are the training wheels that you eventually remove, or mostly remove, from the game as a whole. Almost every TCG does this where they had vanillas to start but then phase them out because they were intentionally bad.Call it power creep, shift in design over 25+ years, growing out of it's training wheels, etc. The matter of fact is that every game grows out of vanillas.
>>96760757>>96761020It's my firm belief that Vanilla monsters do not need to be relevant, but that they should not be an outright detriment when you're running them compared to Effect Monsters. I've said it in the past, but simply making it so that they don't eat up your Normal Summon would go a long way. It would not suddenly make them meta-viable, but you could at least do some cool stuff with Level 4 or lower monsters (particularly vanilla tuners) to extend. You create a scenario where they are not a *good* option, but also where they are not an objectively bad one.
>>96764217You win against those Decks by pulling an OTK or outgrinding them. But some cards make the Duel easier: Feather Duster, Lightning Storm, Evenly Matched, Dimensional Fissure, Lord of the Heavenly Prison for your backrow, etc.

It's not exactly comfortable, but if they're playing pure and your deck doesn't necessarily require a lot of Spell/Trap usage, you can blueball them for as long as possible as by simply using your backrow as little as possible (thus denying them the use of MST or forcing them to use it on themselves), as long as they don't have Radiant Typhoon Mandate (MST NEGATES LOL!!!!) online. You'll need to be able to play through Vibrant Vortex's negate and also be able to clear a 3000 stat threshold for Vibrant Vortex and Great Flame, but otherwise they're basically just playing with vanillas at that point. If it's a Runick variant, you snipe the Runick parts of the engine so they can't snowball.
>Activate Witchcrafter Haine's effect, discarding 1 card and targeting Ame no Murakumo to destroy it>Opponent chains Ame no Murakumo's effect in a futile attempt to stop me>mfw I get to save Verre's negate for later on in the turn AND destroy Ame no MurakumoWitchcrafterbros... everything's coming up millhouse for us....
ifucking hatehow Mirror Mage of the Ice Barrier locks you out of every non-Synchro SSWhile E V E R Y SINGLE other Water-lock monster does not.
So there's no art of the full card art yet right
>>96766294Nope.
>>96766294They typically don't debut the artwork a few days after the announce the set, no.
Serious question though:How strong of a T1 starting board would this be considered?
>>96764217What deck are you playing?
>>96766541How many cards in hand did it cost you?
>>96766598In tests it seems to be that I end up with ~2 cards left in hand on average, at the end. Though it can be as low as an empty hand.
>>96766608Then that board is pretty fragile. The disruptions are strong, but not a complete lock, and you're left in a pretty bad place if you get disrupted.
>>96766650Noting also that Raiho and Medium are the first options to find from Lancea, (Assuming the token is cleared for a Toadally negate)? What would be the cleanest way to disrupt it?
