I have such a hard time imagining what mage society is supposed to look like. Hell, I can barely picture how two mages of differing paradigms could interact. No wonder the traditions are cooked.

I found a group that wants me to ST MtAs for them. They're completely new to it, so I'm a bit torn about how to initiate them.
I have two ideas:
>Have them pick a Tradition, start them at Arete 2/3 and let them figure it out
>Start them as recently awakened Orphans, start them at Arete 1, use Arte + Sphere rules for casting and hand out XP in droves so they can get to the fun spells quickly and have them join a Tradition as they figure their own magick out
Leaning more towards the latter since it'd be a more "beginner friendly" way to play, but it would also keep them from sinking their teeth in the meat of the game until the second or maybe even third session.

Got around to listening to the new HtP. You'd think with all the moaning about it in these threads that they had Fatigue recant his white heritage while flagellating and submitting himself to Filipino bulls. All that happened was he was forgiven his part in the expedition since he didn't know the full scope of it, and was told if he wants to be rid of the guilt and shame he felt because of the actions of his family he had to do good works and help those they harmed. It's a very basic WtA plot point, doing the honorable thing even when it's not the glorious thing. If someone killed your father, we can both agree the honorable thing is to seek vengeance/amends. But what if your father kills someone? What do you owe the victims? You can say you owe nothing, it just means you lack honor.

What ways are there to purify a corrupt Caern/Node/etc, either one that was originally Gaian or one that was created by BSD/Yama Kings/Baali/etc?

They didn't say he felt guilt, they said he HAD guilt. For a series that is very particular about it's usage of words it's hard to believe this was anything other then wanting to punish the white man and justify reparations even if they're literally stolen. I guarantee you despite he mentioning they could be there won't be a scene of the org being angry over the stolen recourse. Because that would frame the action and people receiving the handouts as potentially wrong. And they can't allow that.

It is my understanding (an admittedly incomplete one, so take with a pinch of salt) that the Sabbat care more about the Masquerade than they are willing to admit. There's a reason why they have stuff like the Kings of Shadow to conceal stuff from the public.

It's just that the methodology seems to be different, and the entire culture revolves less around the Masquerade.

Like, iirc the name "Sabbat" comes from a time when some vampires kidnapped people while pretending to be witches. They are still concealing the existence of vampires, even if they are not concealing their actions.

So in modern nights, while in Camarilla territories no one knows anything is going on, in Sabbat ones there's a greater understanding that there are dangers preying on people at night. It's just that such dangers are believed to be ordinary criminals and gangs instead of supernatural creatures.

And I believe there are times when they deliberately break the Masquerade, but they do it in Camarilla territories to make their lives difficult instead of in their own? Like publicly shooting a Cam vampire who would cause a Masquerade breach if they walked it off or showed back alive later.

It's probably enough to make a difference (to them) but clearly not enough that occam or someone else would notice. Otherwise, they would have called it into question misappropriated funds. I've always really like Malkavians, but the more I think on them the more I think that they're completely unnecessary as a clan. In a narrative sense, their role is to create chaos.. but any antagonistic vampire is going to do that. The best advice there is for creating a Malkavian is to just make a vampire of another clan and give them an insanity, but why not take it one step farther and just make a vampire from a different clan with an insanity?
