Where do you guys go to get your maps? I've been looking for some maps, and I've realized just how much of the art in finding, well, art is getting good at Google.
Maps of what.

>>96754969What is a "battlemap"? You want a symmetrical arena?Maps for what.
>>96754895paint.net / pen and paper as neededthe restrictive nature of premade maps makes them unusable for me

>>96754895>Dungeondraft and Texture PacksHonestly? Or if you just want to print off an image, using Gimp and a grid template is fine. As far as professional maps, they are often behind expensive pay gates with a few free samples to sift through. If you can stomach it, doodle image searches might work for a bit.
What I'd really like to see is a good city map maker, a mix between Dungeondraft and Canvas of Kings would be perfect.
>>96754895Leddit unironically has a bunch of battlemaps you can download. Some of them are just low-res previews for a Patreon, but it is worth checking the Patreon links too, because some of them have $0 subscription levels. For example, NebulaMaps, AtaraxianBear, and BearworksModern (no relation) have given me some good material for my sci-fi and modern games, for free.I also make my own maps when I have a specific concept in mind, or can't find something suitable. Deepnight RPG Map 2 is free and has a decent set of features, though it has an SNES vibe to its style. There are map making programs on Steam as well, just check what kind of Workshop support they have; the more free asset packs, the better.
>>96754986Any game master worth his cape knows that when you run a dungeon on a VTT you don't present your unkeyed map to the players at a 1:1 scale. You instead show something akin to what you posted but without the numbers on it.Then when fights happen, you zoom into a different map that has the 1:1 details of the room. A lot of rooms can just be drawn on the fly onto a blank scene in the VTT, but any planned combat encounter should have its own setpiece map.
>>96755499>Then when fights happen, you zoom into a different map that has the 1:1 details of the room. This is the sauce. Provide a set-piece map that conveys the tone of the area you're exploring (town, forest, whatever) and then have maps ready to zoom in and engage with.
>>96754895I make mine on Inkarnate. Battle, city and world. I use maps primarily as setting pieces rather than any particular concern for tracking individual locations. It helps focus my players and keep them grounded, as well as give them ideas.
>>96755499Ok.So what exactly do you want and what do you want it for.
>>96755581Not even OP, but I would like you to have some critical thinking skills of your own.
>>96755686I'm highly critical of you being a faggot right now.
>>96755581>So what exactly do you want and what do you want it for.Are you autistic? Do you lack lateral thinking skills?
>>96755872Battlemaps for fucking what retard.Do you know you can have battles in space or battleships or strategic military battles or scaled down to single units? BE SPECIFIC.
>>96755884nta, you genuine autist; the reason you're being called a retard is because >>96755581 is a total non-sequitur to the post it's responding to
>>96756919Answer the question. You're being called a retard because you are.
