Stormcast Be Like "I got my whole lives ahead me" We're In Shyish Bro Your Soul's Getting Vored By Skeletor Edition>Previously in the Mortal Realms:>>96773163>Official AoS website:https://www.ageofsigmar.com>Downloads, Rules Errata and FAQs:https://www.warhammer-community.com/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-downloads/>Toolshttps://runebrush.pa-sy.com/warscroll/>Anvil of Apotheosis hero creator:https://aosg.github.io/>Thread question:What is a model that you don't like looking at? Not necessarily an ugly one, one that is unnerving or uncomfortable to look at.>Alternative question:Are you guys going trick or treating?
>>96779664>TQMost unnerving is a hard one, nothing particularly "scares" me in AOS. The only one that always made me feel a bit off was Annika the Thirsting blade.the hair, the face, the weird swooshy thin body. She's very odd.
This fucking thing. The beam looks like it's coming directly off the ogors head and I hate the ogors weird squint face. Even when you realize the beam is attached at the back and not from his head, it's still conceptually retarded. I'm suprised GW thought so highly of the model they put it front and center in the cities spearhead. The starter box for the generic second starter faction after stormcast and they want you to use this fucking thing
>>96779136reposting here too just so any anons who want cheap GSG, SCE, KO, Sylvaneth, uhhh technically gargants kinda and Orruk shit, Terrain, etc etc. If you're in Burgerland it's the best deal you can get on shit.Stormbringer just got up to like issue 70.
>>96779727>not from his headWho would think that?
>>9677965740k is somewhat popular but Japan was always the home of Fantasy outside Europe, AoS is on life support over there because they never stopped playing fantasy.
>>96779752The screenshot of the spearhead on the store isn't great quality and regardless, a guy in a bucket attached by a wood beam to an ogor is already retarded, it being attached onto his head is only a small jump to make at that point.
>>96779767Where? I've only seen people play AoS over there.
>>96779767My twitter feed goes nuts with AoS in Japan from time to time. It's pretty healthy over there I'd say.
>>96779775Fantasy was literally more popular than 40k there pre AoS.
>>96779785It's all relative. Yes there are AoS players in Japan. It's also on life support relative to 40k and Fantasy.
>>96779736Is the marshcrawla Sloggoth good, or is it just gonna take up shelf space?
How bad is it?
>>96779736They really need to get illustrators back on Underworlds.
>>96780080They know they fucked up, jsut a question of how long it will take to correct
>>96779727Helmeted version looks fine
So will HoH appear on the AoS app later today?
Can any kind soul share the Helsmiths of Hashut battletome?
>>96779785The japanese insta hashtags are pretty good to follow. You see some charming stuff, it seems like beginners are way more willing to share their stuff on insta in japan
>>96779767Lol it's the complete opposite. There's absolutely zero fantasy there but AoS is relatively popular
>>96779727This model is so fucking stupid but I can't help but like it. Maybe because it has a fantastic short story. Also has a normal ogre equivalent in the standard bearer.
Anyone got the audiobook for 'Sacrosanct & Other Stories' and if so, toss me it plz. Will suck your left foot's toes in return.

>>96780451yeah, he should have slapped something on the hat too
>>96780457Yeah, more hat.
>>96780448also more shit related to >>96774985most of these are pretty easy to attribute to one character or another, the one burning question is whether malerion is finally going to be the new asuryan or tyrion is stealing the spot
>>96780472
>>96779664>Are you guys going trick or treating?Retard there's still half of October left
>>96779718She and Kritza are my favorite character models from Cursed City. Radukar is cool and all but those other two are just exquisite.
Which sect is the cool one?
>>96780531Obviously the bone showing a snake
From what I can see so far it might be possible to magnetize the bull centaur bodies and switch them at will although theres probably something I'm not seeing
>>96780448Is this the first actually solid malerion rumour we've had, ...ever? Crazy times we're living in.>>96780475Seems to be more whitefang commenting as a player and not necessarily as a leaker. Still, I'm fine with 'shards' of the old even gods being picked up by new characters, in the way that morathi has usurped khaine, or krethusa is carrying the torch of morai-heg. It's only if those gods come back full force that it becames lame to me.Interpreting the boole post in that light, he does say that mathlann, khaine and kurnous are already here, and those are the gods with some sort of model representation (even as a dead echo in the case of mathlann). Then morai-heg tarried long or whatever, but is now here with krethusa. He seems to imply that hoeth and asuryan are also coming then. Everybody is expecting tyrion to be asuryan, but maybe it's actually malerion who carries the flame? Can't have shadows without a source of light of course. Then maybe tyrion is the heir to hoeth? Lots of options.
>>96780448fuuuuuuckkkkkk
>>96779736I know this is spoon feeding and a cliche, but explain it to me like a child; they're selling these magazines along with a sprue, which is generally much more expensive in literally any other retailer. Wheres the catch?
>>96780557It used to be a subscription service, and you'd pay extra to get the paint/tools/models compared to just the mags. I think it ends up being quite a lot, but still cheaper than buying models if you really, really want all of them - or have a plan to offload.
>>96780538I'm more curious about whether or not you can put the helmet of the Anointed Sentinels onto the body of the regular Bull Cetaunrs since that helmets + the armour would be KINO.
>>96780386>>96780455Not really, I played Delves in fantasy and it's why I play DoK in AoS
>>96780552>It's only if those gods come back full force that it becames lame to meI don't think that'll ever happen, just because the Warhammer Elf Gods never really existed as characters in fantasy, they were always more distant and unknowable beings. Isha/Kurnous were major exceptions with their mortal avatars, which carries over to AoS as well.
>>96780552it would be incredibly amusing if tyrion and teclis didn't carry the torch of any preexisting elven god, while the dark elves represent the real pantheon.
>>96780552>He seems to imply that hoeth and asuryan are also coming then. Everybody is expecting tyrion to be asuryan, but maybe it's actually malerion who carries the flame? I'm becoming a big fan of the OBRs without having pulled the trigger because of existing unpainted models.I have one question though, whats the point of all the inside skulls? It looks like every larger model has each crevice stuffed with skulls? Yes I know aesthetics trumps reason but I'd like A reason even if it isn't sensible.
>>96780613Ballast.
>>96780613They're some kind of weird ghost skulls rather than regular bones, so maybe it's just artistic way to show souls inside the construct
>>96780563Not to doubt you but can any europer confirm ordering from the UK site, closest this we seem to have is the french site but they don't offer the individual issues, only the subscription price.
>>96780629Oh okay that actually makes some sense.>>96780624And that's just funny.

Nice posture, boss.
Question to the gitz players are the stabbas the same size as hoppers, fanatics etc or is there a size difference between goblins? Also I'm salty that fanatics lost the counter weight like pic related, was a nice little detail
It's a pretty book cover.
>>96780955Is it supposed to look damaged?
>>96780955>>96780983Looks like it yeah
>>96780952The new stuff is bigger/more refined proportionally but not significantly so. Kitbashes with Stabbas work well enough but of course the heroes and Gobbapalooza are all huge by comparison Fanatics do look a lot bigger but they're so dynamic and I suppose it's only the bigger Grots that are as crazed
>>96781005picrel is probably a good example with the UW warband model being the new scale
>>96780997Weid choice. The base design looks realy good, and someone just added pointless smudges on it
>>96779727It's weird that they didn't make a war wagon, it would be the perfect complement to the whole 'our whole army is a mobile castle' deal they have going on
>>96780825This model is also extremely fat, like they gave him nurgle like proportions for no reasonThe other thing I don't get with nu chorfs is why they're lead by what are basically castellans? Whereas previously the head guy was always a sorcerer-prophet
>>96780456Lol the bull remains a stupid looking robotChaos already has good looking daemon engine mounts in the form of juggernauts, idk why they didn't continue that style instead of they had to make a robo taurus
>>96780425The shoulder pads and helmet are still uglyI am working on a method to fix this
>>96781105I'm not sure what you mean. Their society has many leader figures from different walks of life.
>>96781105>they gave him nurgle like proportions for no reasonBulk is a sign of wealth and status
>>96781105>This model is also extremely fatNot very. He's relatively tall and broad, but much of his bulk can be attributed to his attire. There's multiple layers of clothing and armor there, and in front he's got a beard with braids as thick as his gloved wrist, and then a gem-encrusted armor plate on top of that.
>>96781100They're making a cogfort
>>96781170What are you talking about, I have the model in front of me rn
>>96781119shoulderpads are a non-issue, the hats are definitely the big problem with the models, way more than the hand weapon or the shield
>>96781005>Fanatics do look a lot bigger but they're so dynamic and I suppose it's only the bigger Grots that are as crazedI dont mind if boss/shamans (do gitz even have shaman models after TOW?) are bigger because its established fluff that those grots are bigger because of the same growth phenomena that orcs have but fanatics being bigger triggers my autism because lore wise they are random grots that get drugged and hiden between stabbas ,so them being bigger defeats the point of hiding them.I probably try to get some of the old fanatics i posted because they are more in scale with the others ,same with the mangler squig because the new one looks like a huge pain to transport and probably has the same issue the fanatics have with gobo size creep.
>>96781254Grot heroes have always been the same size as infantry until AoS, which didn't introduce any new fluff and just discarded the entire appeal of Goblins for the formulaic "heroes are bigger" designThere's a legends warscroll for shamans but otherwise it's just the Fungoid and Gobbapalooza
>>96780602>dark elves are the real elves Based based based

>>96780825That has been an issue with GW models for deacdes now tho, idk why they do it tho
>>96781310>Grot heroes have always been the same size as infantry until AoSYeah but I don't mind if heroes are bigger than infantry for goblins because you always can just say that he became the boss because he's bigger than other gobos.>which didn't introduce any new fluff and just discarded the entire appeal of Goblins for the formulaic "heroes are bigger" designI thought goblins have the same growth thing that orcs have ,that they grow bigger by bullying others of their kind etc>There's a legends warscroll for shamans but otherwise it's just the Fungoid and GobbapaloozaIt's ridiculous that we don't have a generic shaman model especially because the fungoid is basically a named character

>>96781372I never bothered to read the ET but isn't it a fairly big plot point that malekith was actually the rightful phoenix king all along? I think he's got a fair shot. Also hoeth should be celennar just to fuck with teclis a bit more.
Really quite irks me that Infernal Cohort spears have demonic power cells but the swords are just swords

>>96781727>>96781578i wonder if there's a big scale difference between the torsos on these guys and normal on foot chorfs, like if you could transplant chorf bodies from the basic infantry onto them or if it would be too small

>>96781716>>96781727I HOPE ANON WHO HAS EXPRESSED LOVE FOR RELIGIOUS SIDE OF HASHUT READS THIS!I know that Helsmiths of Hashut have just gotten a big new release but nonetheless, inspired by new lore as well as my love for dwarves who follow the true god of the Mortal Realms, Hashut, I am hoping to hear what new miniatures fellow HoH players would like for us to recieve in future editions. What would you like to see added to HoH range? Now I know it is unrealistic for Helsmiths of Hashut to get a range so large, this is rather a collection of things I would like to see in editions to come for them. In addition, I would humbly present my own ideas for range expansion. I have taken inspiration from a long history of Chaos Dwarf lore but also let my own imagination run wild with a few models. Also, I was inspired by very rich history of Mesopotamia plus Minoan culture too.I shall begin with things that already have models or have been depicted in Warhammer Total War. So I hope to see Helsmiths of Hashut receive in future:1. Lammasu model.2. A elite infantry unit, akin to legendary Infernal Guard/Ironsworn from FW and also seen in Warhammer Total War. Black armour with fire helmets. Melee axes (two handed or one handed with shields) burning with inner fire or armed with fireglaives.3. A proper massive cannon, since Tormentor Bombard is more mortar like. Something like old Hellcannon.4. Magma Cannon.5. Chaos Dwarf version of Helblaster Volley Guns.6. More Hobgrot heroes and units.7. Bull Centaur hero.8. A elite infantry unit made of clockwork automata infused by daemon essence or three man unit of fire/lava elementals encased in armour, like K'Daai Fireborn.
>>96781786I just like the greek vibe they got man. Its more explicit than what dark elves or high elves had back in fantasy.
>>96781790HERE BRO!!! Give me your thoughts on my ideas. Now onto my two fan made ideas. There is a very opulent, rich and even decadent aspect of Chaos Dwarf lore and religion of Hashut that I felt needed to be explored in form of their priesthood, the Scorched Sect. Helsmiths of Hashut are Duardin and all Duardin are capable of creating things of beauty. Servents of Hashut would reflect the Chaos beauty as well as utmost desire of Hashut to dominate all, mortal or other Chaos Gods under his hoofs.1. I really love the Ashen Elder sculpt. Now, from the new battletome, Helsmith society is a dance of politics and power between Despots, Daemonsmiths and Ashen Elders (leaders of the Scorched Sect, the very priesthood of Hashut based in Ur-Zorn in Realm of Beasts, Ghur). In new tome, lore about Despots and Daemonsmiths is quite well explored but the lore of priesthood of Hashut is undeveloped. We know they hold control over Bull Centaurs, which is a massive political power for them. But what do they do in religious rites, how do Hashutite temples look and how do ceremonies look like? How do they interact with their faithful. These are the questions I hope the next battletome or HoH fiction explores.
>>96781786DoK is clearly for Femdom enjoyers
>>96781794>>96781796Back to model idea. I imagined a named Ashen Elder hero on top of a massive shrine palanquin carried by Helsmith servants on their backs. The shrine would have a massive golden bull idol on it. A ornamented large altar made purely out of red ruby would be in front of it. Censers would be placed at four corners of shrine, the narcotic incense rising from the censers (the smoke being the Breath of the Bull, which is what Bull Centaurs who become Anointed Sentinels inhale when they don sacred Hashutaar helmets, according to lore in battletome). A named Ashen Elder character would stand and preach from obsidian stone like tablet book. The effects of the Breath of the Bull incense and the preaching of Ashen Elder would inspire Helsmiths to fight like never before and not yield a inch back, no matter what foe comes at them. I feel a named Ashen Elder hero would be good counter point to ambitions of Urak Taar.2. Idolater Daemonengine. Now, remember that Hashut desires to see all, mortal, undead and all gods submit to him, he want to see all Mortal Realms trampled beneath his hoofs. He is a god of eternal tyranny and dominance. Sadly, in HoH battletome, Hashut is not playing the Great Game like other 5 Chaos Gods are. But what if that were to change? Idolater Daemonengines are the answer and greatest insult of Hashut to other five Chaos Gods. Each Idolater Daemonengine is a unique work of art and testament to Helsmith genius. Each Idolater Daemonengine is very large statue made in shape and form of one of five Chaos Gods or in the shapes of their servants, mortal and daemonic. Indeed, even the weapons that statues wield are reflecting of which Chaos god statue is.
>>96780324With basic standard bearer, the gnoblar is too small for the ogre to case. And even if the gnoblar falls off or gets killed, he won't give a shitWith CoS ogre, he somehow has to keep good enough balance for the guy not to miss his shots all the time
>>96781794>>96781796>>96781802At first glance, many, including the worshippers of Chaos, would assume that the statues honor Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Great Horned Rat. Nothing could be further from truth. For each Idolater Deamonengine is fueled by bound daemons. Tzeentch daemons fuel Tzeentch Idolater Daemonengines, likewise those of Nurgle daemons fuel Nurgle ones. When fueled by bound daemons, each Idolater Daemonengine becomes a walking engine of death, capable of running for days without tiring or choking a Gargant to death with its articulated hands. For example, a Idolater Daemonengine dedicated to Slaanesh might be made of finest white marble, with veins of emerald criss-crossing the statue and emerging on marble skin of statue to form thorns of pure emerald and roses made of various gems. The statue is armed in one hand with great whip made out of very same emerald that is emerging from palm of statue and then extending for a dozen meters before ending in 6 deadly massive blades. The other hand carries a highly elaborate and ornamented massive gun which is capable of releasing immense gouts of lilac hued perfumed smoke which induces a state of complete ecstasy in all who inhale the smoke ( think of the Lurid Haze Slaaneshi warband from Wrath of Everchosen book), leaving them defenseless against blades of whip that the statue carries. At the upper back side of engine, behind the steel bars and through burning smoke, hands and heads of Slaaneshi daemons can be seen, trying in vain to escape the horror to which they are subjected upon.
>>96781772Cows in the Barnyard univers breed through parthenogenesis. That's why every father in the franchise is adopted and not biological
>>96781794>>96781796>>96781802>>96781809Indeed such is the allure of these daemon fueled statues that servants of Chaos often try to worship them before they realize to their horror what insult to their patron gods these statues are. These engines are the very pinnacle of Helsmith daemonsmith art, towering even over Dominator Engines, though dark whisphers speak of a even more gargantuan engines chained in the depths beneath immense ziggurats.----‐---------I have to add one final thing, I really wonder how a Idolater engine fueled by my second favorite faction, the Flesh Eater Courts would look alike. Fueled by souls of ghouls and Kingsblood maybe.FINISHEDRELIGIOUS HASHUT ANONS, what do you think of my ideas? How would you explore religious side of HoH society?

Nothing about this model reads "frontiersman" or "miner" >their vehicles are moon roversyeah why? what about that is supposed to convey "dwarf"? what about that is supposed convey a miner or frontiersman?>bro it says pioneer on the box, that means they're pioneers! That's not how that works. It's fine if you like their design, but they did a terrible job visually communicating the faction concept they were going for.
>>96779891Getting one wouldn't be a bad idea, it's good for moving your dudes forward, also oddly enough much smaller than you'd think
>>96780521Kritza is my go to, I wish he still had the ability where you roll a d6 and on a 4+ he just doesn't die.
>>96781802>named Ashen Elder hero would be good counter point to ambitions of Urak Taar.I like this, im surprised this concept didnt naturally creep on me. >Idolater Daemonengine.mmm Im of mixed opinions on your ideas for this generally. I dont think the smiths would like to idolize, or even directly depict the other chaos gods, but rather warp them into some kind of mixed imagery of hashut with the other gods. Like, look at the dominator engine, on the belly area, there are some subtle demonic eyes, now yes they are undivided, but if the engines were to carry on something robbed from the other gods, maybe make the eyes bigger and go harder with the flame symbology for tzeetnch. Overall I do like the idea of mixing the two so long as it promotes to the bull fathers glory, and not the false pretenders! >Fueled by souls of ghouls and Kingsblood maybe.Would be interesting, I dont personally have ideas on how to make it work though.
>>96781790Hashut anon, you still here?
>>96781964why would you lie about something so easily disproven with webstore photos?their pioneers, wearing fur lined explorers longcoats and goggles, ride bikes strapped with all of their travel luggage, with rope and bedrolls tied to the front hood, chassis mounted shotgun holsters and hatchets, with mining picks and shovels strapped to the backwhat the fuck else do you need that says pioneerschrist. you're hopped up on 40kg nonsense and have never touched their models.
>>96782042They would not be idolizing other Chaos Gods, but basically caging them in idols representing other Chaos Gods and using them as weapons. Basically, proving that Hashut is dominant above all. How would you explore religious side of Helsmith society? Any ideas for new miniatures?
>Furthermore, I think that Greywater Fastness must be destroyed.
I hope next year's model is from an Order army. And not CoS or SCE.
>>96782146I'll be another vampire
>>96782125it will bebut its survivors will become a nomadic people on cogforts
>>96782066They need the lammansu.Maybe a foot acolyte unit (similar aesthetic as the gong ringer in the infantry) who have some synergy with the ashen elders or the sentinel bulls (count them as one DPP higher when within a certain range, grant a Ward to the elder, whatever). Less armor than the normal Chorf, maybe lean into the religious aspect with blazers and censors that grant some penalty to shooting or some shit. > New warmachineI honestly don't know what can be added that isn't just going to be a 'skaven warmachine BUT CHORF' at this point. The magma cannon could be 'reimagined' but then you step on the toes of the dominator with flame throwers.
>>96782066Hmmm really I don’t know at this time. I have mixed ideas that could go in all sorts of directions, i do agree with the things that you listed should be included into the range, if I really had to include something that left field, it would be named hero’s based off of Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and adapt their stories to Aos, could probably turn Valaya into a Ishtar figure too, at least in the smiths perspective. But for uh…non narrative things, I think they should get a second battleline of chaos dwarf cultists, but these are kind of outcast helsmiths that have failed mutations, and are adorned with masks similar to what the centaur sentinels have, but are much, much more worn down.
>>96782166>>96782186Cool ideas. I said above, but there is a decadent and opulent aspect to Chaos Dwarfs, fitting given the Mesopotamian influence. I hope religious side of HoH society reflects this.I really love the aesthetics and lore of Anointed Sentinels. The Hashutaar helmets are a thing of beauty. Lore is excellent too, they are quite literally breathing in the narcotic incense fumes, driving them into a state of powerful religious ecstasy. Also what about Brass Bull or Brazen Bull altars?
>>96782251There is a cool art piece for Trench Crusade of Golden Calf altar.Maybe something like that for Helsmiths, a ornamented mobile altar where sacrifices are thrown into the burning bull.
>>96782251>Also what about Brass Bull or Brazen Bull altars?Could be neat for a manifestation or more likely, a terrain piece for the faction.
>>96782166Why not just bring back the iron daemon/skullcracker? Everyone loves that. I definitely would have wanted to see that before the fucking Deathshrieker.
>>96782166I hope Lamassu looks something like this, not some ugly shit.
>>96782052nta but I'm also pretty underwhelmed by their designs, theres plenty of existing concepts for space dwarfs that work well making these design decisions just...off. They're not bad and I do believe you that having them in your hands gives a better impression ( I'll probably go up against a votan player in a while so I'll see for real ) but just looking at the pictures they don't scream space dwarf. >>96782986>Fyreslayers turned back into Slayers>rest of Dwarf army being ported into AoSI feel like they are trying to make AoS more like Fantasy this edition. Gone are the brand new army concepts and new ideas of old. We now just get watered down copies of Fantasy in terms of worldbuilding and in terms of gameplay we get 40k but shittier. 4e has been a disaster.
>>96783011Take your time, son of the Bullfather!
>>96783016>Kurnothi get yet another Warhammer Quest hero.Shoulda been a melusai...
>>96783022I suppose it's a lagging response to the criticism bitching and moaning from the game's first couple editions.
>>96783057They shouldn't have listened. AoS needs to be it's own thing completely. As of now it's being shifted into more and more of a very poorly thought out copy of fantasy. Which begs the question, why play the cheap copy when the original is right there. This is both in terms of the wordbuilding (Fantasy) and the gameplay (40k). AoS seems like a watered down copy of both in those two aspects in 4e. It does not bode well for the health of the game long term.
>>96782648Every video of theirs that gets posted here just seems to be dumping on the game>HoH SUCK>SCE SUCK>AoS should be more like TOW>The boxes are so MID>GW needs to DITCH this gameit's all angry clickbait shit from somone who's soured on the hobby and can't just drop the shit because they retardedly made it their job, so now they just make hate videos. Don't post this trash here>>96783022You can't seriously be saying that turning FS into normal dwarves would be watering them down. FS are based entirely on a single unit type from Fantasy with basically nothing else in their entire range. FS are watered down WHFB dwarves. Turning them into normal dwarves would mean you would have greater variety in models and types of units, which the faction desperately needs.
>>96782648>They seem to want many features from TOW to be brought into AoS.So do I if it means bringing back actual fucking options

>>96782657I'm hoping the fyreslayers rebranding is real
I think that with Slayers + Dispossessed, the Slayers will be the "main" dwarves and the not-slayers will be the "outcasts" who are shamed for not attempting suicide by combat daily.
>>96783457You already have rebranded dwarfs in TOW. In all their glory. If you want to play generic dwarfs go there. AoS is for more fantastical concepts not hand me down armies from TOW.
>>96783227As someone who never played ToW, even before it was first removed, I was shocked to learn that they actually pick individual items even for basic battleline not to mention how much they can customize heroes. It feels like AoS is supposed to be the simpler mass appeal game whereas ToW is more of a gritty wargame for veterans who want more complexity.
Does anyone have an idea of what the aesthetic influences on any of the factions are? Like the lizards are extremely obvious and always have been, but what about Lumineth, CoS, Deathrattles, Helsmiths, etc. I think the Deathrattles are some combination of Slavic and Middle Eastern armors but I'm not sure.
>>96783492>Dude, what if we took one unit from TOW dwarfs and made that the WHOLE factionyou are smoking crack if you think Oops, all Slayers™ is not a watered down version of fantasy's dwarves.
>>96783530Lumineth are very obviously classical Greco aesthetics amplified. Helsmiths are just a mess because they used to be Babylonian inspired but now it's a really bad mix of babylonian aesthetics crossed with art deco. Just awful.
>>96783086AOS is still very much its own thing, dwarves trying to revive one of their dead gods is pretty unique to the setting, ultimately we just have to wait to see what the new face of duardin will be, before a judgment can really be allocated. >gameplay I genuinely think the games better to actually play a game with its core rules than 40k by a LOOOOOOOOONG fucking shot, I gave up 40k somewhere just after pariah nexus and realized that the game is completely at odds with itself. The books that some armies get in 40k, I will admit, do attract more curiosity than I have for some armies in 4th, they do also have the issue of being an issue later down the line but thats another conversation of long-term balance. Also broken coast is better than crusade, immensely so>>96783227I wouldn't want aos to copy off of tow, Maybe it'd be better if they went back to the design philosophy that they had back in 2e, or even 4e 40k, Maybe even took a peak at 3e horus heresy, just a smidge ( im looking at those status here).
>>96783561I would also like that. Unfortunately I think it's becoming more clear that 40k and AoS being the two " mainline " games of GW are going to continue to be designed in a dumbed down board gamey manner. In order to have larger mass appeal. On the flipside. TOW and HH are also considered two of their four pillars (as stated in their investor reports) and are there to capture both the older Warhammer gamer who wants more complex and interesting rules and the newer players who want something closer to a simulation of a battle vs a board game. I am not denigrating 40k or AoS by saying it's being board gamified either. I think in terms of the goals of GW (mass appeal) it's much smarter than making the rules more complex. Especially when you already have both a Sci Fi and Fantasy game system from GW if you want more complexity than AoS and 40k offer.

It's what replaced the Old World after Games Workshop literally blew up the entire setting in the End Times (still controversial, people are STILL mad about this). AoS has evolved tremendously since its rocky 2015 launch. The current edition is actually pretty damn good - it's streamlined, the setting has found its identity with these vast cosmic realms, and there's a huge model range. BUT, and this is a big but, you're looking at potentially thousands of dollars for a full army, significant painting time, and games that can take 2-3 hours. The community is large though, so finding games is usually easy.>The Old World is pure nostalgia bait - and I mean that in the best way possible. It's literally Games Workshop going "okay, okay, we hear you" to all the grognards who've been complaining about AoS for a decade. It's set during the period before the world exploded, with rank-and-flank regiment-based warfare. The models are gorgeous, the rules are crunchy and detailed, but here's the thing: the barrier to entry is BRUTAL. You need even more models than AoS, movement trays, and the rules complexity is significantly higher. This is for people who want to relive or experience Warhammer Fantasy Battles as it was meant to be - glorious, expensive, and time-consuming.

>>96784020I had an idea for a BoC warband before they were squatted based on the gilgamesh enkidu story (well, mostly enkidu). Long story short a herd besieges a slaaneshi city, who keep sending gifts to the besieging beasts. They eventually succumb to the luxury of civilization; they oil and perfume their fur, bedeck themselves in jewels and trinkets, pride themselves on the finest weapons. They hate themselves for it inside of course, in true slaaneshi fashion. They now serve as the protectors of the city, which takes the place of Shamhat in the story. Might revisit the concept for a slaaneshi spearhead or something, using beastmen models.

I think the art deconess of the HoH is a great example of why the freedom of the setting is such a double edged sword. It's like 9/11, sometimes great ideas can be terrible ideas.
>>96783953A couple years back they were still the only place doing covid stuff. Now they regularly push pride agenda and still have the worst prices anywhere withing a 100km. Terrible access to the store for cars also.
>>96783953I cant recall anyone here pushing sloptubers here. Let alone one's that are "drama "focused.

>>96784247Literally just order from an LGS for cheaper than GW. There’s tons of stock out there. I don’t understand the retards who spend more to buy direct from GW.
>>96784247>out of stockWhat? Are you in the third world?
I cannot believe anyone would pay $39 for 16 basic plastic D6s just because it matches their army
>>96784095>there used to beWhat kind of sumerian motifs do you think they've lost?>>96784110Valaya doesn't feel very ishtary to me. Valaya is more like homely housewife hera than secuding aphrodite ishtar. Isn't her whole thing with gilgamesg that he turned her down and it led to the death of enkidu? If anything it seems like hashut cared about valaya, she was the one that managed to mediate between him and grungni/grimnir when the realms were allotted and he got ghur. Idk combining the ancestor gods with sumerian myth is kinda tricky, since you're just trying to mesh two sets of pre-exisiting characters. Work better if you make youe gilgamesh and ishtar parallels mortal chorfs of importance or something.
>>96784324At least the AoS and TOW dice have rounded corners. The 40k dice don’t so not only are you paying out the ass for coloured dice you’re paying for really really bad dice.
>>96784331This is the first time I've seen someone claim that rounded dice are better...
>>96784324Most of the dice that GW put out are low effort. Once in a while they release fantastic thematic dice like the Tomb Kings bone dice.
>>96784331Sharp corners are.... le bad?
>>96784348Yeah man that's why casinos famously use very rounded and not at all sharp dice
>>96784345>>96784348Sharp cornered dice roll far worse than rounded corner dice.

>>96784443What country do you live in? Definitely not like that here in Canada. Even so, wherever you live you can 100% order online from an LGS in your country and save 15-20%. Here in Canada the LGS discount “ cap “ is 15%. Meant that third parties aren’t allowed to advertise larger than 15% discounts. There’s an LGS in my city that shows online a 15% discount, but if you buy in store it’s a 20% discount. That way they stay within the boundaries of GW’s terms.
>>96784436those are the best dice
>>96784407the long dice are terrible, not even from a practical perspective but because it just leans into the flanderized long boy aesthetic GW elves are.>>96784436bad execution of a good concept. it should have been a normal dice with it looking like a squig is inside, intead of trying to stretch a squiq into a cube shape>>96784419I kind of fuck with the ice cubes. Is this IDK?
>>96784407>>96784444Canada. When you take into account the exchange rate and how shit weak our dollar is we actually pay way less for Warhammer than Americans across the board. In HH and TOW it’s even cheaper because a regular TOW/HH box costs $100 for a 20-40 man unit in Canada and $100 in the US. So we are straight up paying like 30% less than Americans just due to currency.
>>96784380The game should have some degree of granularity and customization to it. You have characters? You should be able to outfit them with traits and artifacts and a selection of spells if they're a wizard. Your army should have some sort of unique attribute based on what Realm they're from. Frankly when I look at the rules I'm just fucking bored by them. A couple of spells for your army plus the whopping ONE any individual wizard gets, even the likes of Nagash and Kroak.
>>96784458I'm in the US, I've walked into 3 different stores and every spearhead is 145, all the individuals units are MSRP. Maybe it's a regional issue, I'm in the suburbs of a big city so I'm sure even at MSRP they probably sell their shit quickly. >Even so, wherever you live you can 100% order online from an LGS in your country and save 15-20%I've joined discords for two of the stores and they take preorders but I haven't seen them list the prices so I'm not sure if maybe that's how you get stuff discounted. All the shit on the shelf isn't discounted.
>>96784326It is hilarious to me that people say Helsmiths lost Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrian and Babylonian influence. Anyway, while Valaya does come off more as Hera, I was wondering how to reconceptulize her as Ishtar. Valaya is goddess of beauty, love and ferility. A Duardin Ishtar.
>>96784470Are you sure about that? I've seen some online listings for stuff in Canadian stores and it's usually comes out to a similair price after conversion
>>96784483https://warpfireminis.comTook me 2 seconds going off a quick google search into a Reddit thread. I assume like here in Canada there’s 100’s of other stores that offer the same discounts if you don’t want to order from what I linked.
>>96784470Recommendations for Canadian stores I should import to the US from?
>>96784436Wrong>>96784460Right
>>96784499Looks like they adjusted prices after the price increase. The boxes are now $90 usd and $107 cad MSRP. But still, as of today $90 USD is $126.20 Canadian. So you’re still paying 20% more in the US for the same kits after conversion
>>96784324There's also not enough dice for rolling attacks.Necromunda dice are worth it, but I have one set I use across 4 different gangs, don't care that it doesn't match
>>96784512Unfortunately you can’t. GW makes retailers sign agreements that limited their shipping options to domestic only. If they didn’t the entire world would probably order from Wayland in the UK as they have the highest standards discounts. That being said, literally just google American stores, read some reviews and order. It’s not rare for an LGS to offer 15% off in my experience.
>>96784466They're idk ones yes. Has to be the single worst from a practical perspective.>>96784483I'm in western europe and I'm in the same boat. Alll physical stores I've been to (around 5) sell at gw webstore prices (although one is 99% card games and seemingly hasn't realized there's been a price hike yet lol). That being said there's a few online retailers around that do offer pretty nice discounts, even when accounting for possible shipping costs.
>>96784443Bizarre. Ours vary, some are GW prices but most are 10-30% less
>>96784545Sounds like I should just use a mail forwarder in the UK
>>96784540God I wish people played Necromunda in my city. Looks like such an amazing game.
>>96781786Yeah that tracks. When I get around to painting my DoK minis I'm going to give them tramp stamps and womb tats.
>>96784566Maybe. But once you account for that and the lost money on currency conversion I doubt you end up ahead of just ordering from a domestic LGS that offers the standard 15% and free shipping on decently sized orders
>>96784566not that easy. A mail forwarder will cost extra and that's not factoring in the normal international shipping and tarrifs you have to pay.
>>96784567It is. It is super unbalanced so needs some self control, but it's awesome. If I were you, try and start a campaign and draw others in
>>96784566https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/wiki/retailers/
>>96784575That's not what DoK are for!>>96781786You're missing the most important one>>96781801This
>>96784586I don’t really care about balance desu. Necromunda seems like a game built for narrative players. You’d have to be a massive faggot to try and power game that style of game.
>>96784586Powergamers are the biggest fags in any setting. If you don't prioritize having a cool or thematic army and instead just run the top meta picks you're bitchmade and deserve to be the paypiggy GW treats you as.This new era of GW making the whole game to cater to tournyfags is the worst.
>>96784620Tourneyfags will unironically be the death of age of sigmar. 4e is their edition, and the rest of us suffer bland and boring gameplay because of it.
>>96784620>>96784625What's the point of appealing to tourneyfags anyway? Are they really such huge spenders that GW prefers to cater to them instead of casuals that make up the vast majority of their customers?
>>96784625Every hardcore metafagging player I've heard talk about 4E have said they preferred older editions and wanted more complexity put in with stuff like TOW has. The feeling I get is they wanted to change things up for new people, unfortunately new people don't get into these games because of rulesets, they get into them because of cool characters and models.
>>96784634I imagine it's about trying to create more WAACfags by turning them into tournyfags. WAACfags are the type to buy any model in as much quantity as they need to make the strongest army possible. WHich means whenever something new comes out that has busted rules, they'll buy as many as they can field. So by trying to turn the game into a tournament friendly state where there's not much exploitable and everything is largely the same kinds of +1 whatever buffs, they make people buy more of whatever is new and strong. At least that's my hypothesis.
>>96784634>Are they really such huge spenders that GW prefers to cater to them instead of casuals that make up the vast majority of their customers?Yes. They are immensely more lucrative. Notice how GW keeps talking about balance balance balance in 40k? Do you know why they never achieve balance despite it being all they talk about in terms of game design? Because they don't want balance. They want an ever shifting meta. Why? Because tournament fags will spends thousands of dollars every few months to tune their armies back into meta lists when the balance slate hits.Casuals buy an army, paint it and play with it for years. Meta fags will effectively buy a new army every few months to stay competitive. All by design. This is the future of AoS as one of the two mainline games.
>>96784625Like >>96784646 said gw is trying to appeal to what they THINK tourney players like, not necessarily what they actually like. In my experience tourneys really aren't as waacy as you'd expect (then again I've only gone to local smaller ones). People aren't really trying to win no matter what, they're trying to win with their specific army. Tourney players like choice, they like options, they want to feel like their list building matters like anybody else.
>>96784601>>96784620That's the problem. Some people can't divorce it and still build to power game. My group only has one guy who is kind of a bit power gamey but besides him, everyone else has good self control. Playing the gang to the theme is also great fun. Weirdly I seem to have better results using the worst units/weapons rather than more optimal loadouts.>>96784625This is something I have not enjoyed about 4th, it feels too soulless, I want more character to armies and unique skills and less balance. I love Warcry too and with that the random missions are sometimes disgustingly unbalanced, but, it's more fun.>>96784634I assume so. It's sad. But like >>96784654 said, they will buy whatever is strongest. The rest of us buy an army because it's cool and play it no matter how good or bad it is.
>>96784654I don't know about older AOS, but I've perused 8th 40k rules and units and, at least from a customization POV, it was peak. Lots of psychic disciplines to choose from, plenty of artifacts to customize your generic character units, actual weapon options for squads. That's the kind of shit I want to see in AOS instead of the boring streamlined bullshit it is right now.Bring back full magic lores and choices for your wizards to take x amount of spells, bring back your realm of origin actually doing something for your army, give enough different artifacts that you can actually make a potentially interesting hero build, and for the love of god let traits do something other than fucking rerolls or give a ward save. Give some bonus movement, summon a new unit, drop a comet with a blast plate onto the field. Make the game interesting and fun and not just "hold objectives".
>>96779664Anybody here have the new chorves and try painting them in a non-box scheme?
>>96784737>Make the game interesting and fun and not just "hold objectives".Yes to everything but especially this.Again using Warcry as an example, so many fun and thematic missions. Most of them can easily be adapted to AoS
>>96784739We've had a couple of them post here.
>there are people still hating on the HoH modelsI thought everyone realized they were good after seeing some alternate paint schemes and actually having the models in hand.
>>96780340This is something I absolutely hate about the current edition. They made wizards mandatory but it completely takes me out of it that every fucking podunk warband has a pocket wizard or fucking Kroak with them. How the hell does that make sense. Just let me make thematic lists, just copy Middle Earth Strategy Battle and let Heroes have a resist magic roll so that not every list has a theme breaking wizard in the middle of it at every points size.
>>967847743 contrarians and 5 TOW players crying and spamming, nothing more. Just ignore them.
Now that the dust has settled, why are HoH selling well even on a non-limited release?
>>96784811Because they look good and are good. I have a blast with them. Wins are rare for GW lately, but this one is a win, no doubt.
>>96784811Im still waiting for that spearhead james. I'll only buy the named hero until then.
>>96784747When I see and think of a war game, I think "what would the actual objectives of these armies be?". Most of the time it should be to rout the enemy from the field. Which should always be an option for units to lose morale and flee the field. In the context of a Fantasy game like this, there's tons of room for army objectives. E.g. Seraphon vs STD>Old One artifact on a hill that can be used to seal a Chaos rift, Seraphon want to get there and use it>Ancient Chaos portal across the way that can flood the realm with daemons, STD want to open itSo you have different objectives with potentially different effects if they are reached, with the Old One thing nuking the portal and everything around it and the portal summoning a new unit of daemons or a greater daemon each turn it's active. Is it perfectly balanced? No. But it does give players some choice in how to pursue their games and throws some interesting effects in for meeting or denying objectives. And yes, I do think GW should be using blast templates for big magic and artillery. Getting rid of them in 40k was a mistake and they would do well here.
Anyone has Kharadron pdf for 2, 3 and 4 ed to share?
>>96784828this is why i argue that narrative campaigns benefit from having a gamemaster-figure to set up thematic match objectives and help define the overarching "plot" development based on results
>>967847378th was far into the decline. Look at a pdf of the chaos space marines 3.5e codex. That’s the level of customization I want.

>>96784903Yes they do you absolute retard. I’ve literally never seen a store on that app that doesn’t do shipping.
>>96784868dunno who the fuck duncan is but it's true they are controversial. Mostly I think it's a lot of Chorf die hards who don't like them as much as the classic chaos dwarfs, which is fair. I slightly prefer the old hats mainly but I think they did a good job with a lot of the new stuff, especially honing in on the stone aids curse stuff. A guy with a stone back or half stone face is much more interesting than someone like Astrogoth ironhand who's just disabled and needs robo legs to walk
GW must have assumed they would sell like Ultramarines if there is 600+ stores that still have stock of limited edition boxes but also everyone in everyone’s area is buying big time.
>>96779736 It makes me so fucking mad hatchette doesn't even have an australian website that works, i couldn't subscribe to stormbringer if i wanted to even while the last ~10 issues were still being shipped, let alone buying copies like this. I guess they just hate aussies.

>>96784989There is a chance, a very small chance, that they might make another separate spearhead that’s different from the army set. I have no evidence to back this theory up however. Either way a discount is a Discount.
>>96785007>Like he can be mistaken for khorneThis was a deliberate thing back in Fantasy. In-universe it was acknowledged that depictions of Hashut resembled Juggernauts somewhat and it was theorized that the gods may be connected. One of the old Hashut symbols was even a weird ersatz Khorne symbol.
>>96785007Yeah HoH suck and the redesign was handled really poorly. Careful you'll be labelled a ToW player or Pole or something by the resident " HoH are popular " schizo.

>>96785334whatevers on the horizon for fyreslayers would have been in development for years before the first sales numbers from old world ever rolled in.its true fyreslayers arent popular, but i'd wager that has more to do with them basically not supporting the army with new models or units for 10 years straight, and their entire range consisting of only a few foot infantry kits and a single monster hero kit, and a smattering of token foot heroes. now in my opinion, as someone who collects fyreslayers, foot heroes are the soul of the army so that isnt a bad thing. if i had my way the army would have a similar setup to that khorne army of renown where all the heroes get like a 4+ ward or whatetever. but thats beside the point. people probably would have bought if over the years they got a cavalry unit, maybe another monster or two, some kind of flying/leaping/lavasurfing jump unit or somethingjust anything with a bit more interest than basic foot guy with an axe in a walking pose. i dont think you need to ditch the naked berzerker aesthetic to accomplish that, and lumping in dispossessed just puts a flat tire in the whole armies design, ESPECIALLY if that new hero from darkwater is any indication of the direction. The problem with Fyreslayers is, when your whole faction is angry barbarian dwarves with mohawks and tongs, it gets old and repetitive very fast.Kharadrons work because they have guns, harpoons, swords, maces, anchors, flying ships, bombs, etc. GW dont even tried with Fyreslayers. Where are the flying units of drakes spiting fire from above? siege weapons? or Avatar of the Grimnir? or a hero mounting an elemental-whatever into combat? Wow this thread sure went to shit.So anyways I think Stormcasts should have primarch-adjacent figures, one for each realm except Azyr. This way each realm's golden boys (gender neutral) could have something sorta... spicing them up. Like how in 40k chapters have gene flaws or quirks or preferred fighting styles and their successors play with these in different ways. Maybe, idk, "forge flaws", like how sometimes when forging a weapon or armor the metal is flawed or impure, SCE from different realms could have something about them that makes them slightly off from baseline azyrite Eternals. Like Ghyran ones are excellent navigators but can be overly attached to mortal things or Shyish ones are cold and emotionless but built sturdier.
