Trench Crusade General - /trench/
Artillery Bitch Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

I'm so happy this fucking game is dying and the fanbase is an utter disaster. The sooner this woke fucking shit fades from culture memory and the tranny cunts who rant about it die the better.

You can't fool us, Beelzebub
>>
>>96780283
I have no idea what would make trench crusade woke in comparison to the mainstream miniature wargames.

It seems distinctly less corporate and clean, desu.

who are the baddies? i like to play the evil factions, daemons, drukhari, dark elves, vampire counts etc.

>who are the baddies.
The literal forces of Hell are the baddies. You've got three factions of them, Heretic Legions, the disease and death loving Black Grail, and the more demonic Court of the Seven Headed Serpent. Each has additional subfactions that add extra flavour.

That's a nice angel on the scripture guardian. Was that part of the mini, or did you paint it yourself? Prints I ordered didn't have too many details.

Pretty standard naval raiders, led by a priest only going by the calling “Monkey’s Paw”. They prefer to deploy via small watercraft instead of the clunky scuba suits so they can cover ground quicker.

There’s a running gag in my playgroup that their ship’s mess hall serves grilled locust meat, because of the sheer number of pit locusts they’ve killed.
>>
>>96780750
I'll give a quick descriptor of what we have so far, but there are a couple more to come after the full game release (I think some time this month?).

> Heretic Legions.
The people of earth who live under hells control, or those who defect to hell for whatever reason, as well as a few artficial creations made by hell to support the war effort. Variants include:
> Naval Raiding Party, lightning fast shoreline attackers.
> Knights of Avarice, followers of the demon lord of greed Mammon
> Trench Ghosts, those who died but couldn't be claimed by hell so wander the earth

> Cult of the Black Grail
The devil beelzebub created the Black Grail, a horrible infection that turns people into disgusting zombies, and has been doing his own effort to spread the plague and control the world. Only current variant is:
> Dirge of the Great Hedgemon, attempts to create an ultimate plague giant that failed so they were kicked out of the cult

> Court of the Seven-Headed Serpant
Half-Demons and other non-demon creatures of hell sent out on elite raiding missions, bringing human slaves to power their blood magic. Rather than variants, each warband picks one of the seven deadly sins to follow granting them different types of blood magic they can use.

>Naval raiders. "The Hedon Coiterie"

Not even technically a military force. It's a wandering band of willing social outcasts, rejects, and degenerates who had an obsession, kink or cardinal sin that they simply chose to indulge in, over any kind of social law or moral compass.
They've figured out, over the years, that even if they hate each other, that by working together they can exert more power than most undefended territories in either side can muster, and so can fly by the seat of their pants, so long as they commandeer a boat or truck before a response force arrives.
They've collected a couple of notables. A zombie boxer death commando in haunted clockwork armour. An ex-NA trooper in light machine armour who was rendered insane and perpetually on fire after accidentally managing to cross the hell gates, and an Opera sorceress capable of summoning artillery guns.
They're less lead, and more tard-wrangled by a priest, who's actually more competent and driven than most of them combined. And keeps getting shot in the back by one specific mini.

>NA. "His Majesty's Humans." WIP

Wealthy english lord and naval enthusiast designs a new variant of machine armour based around naval war rules. Range, firepower, speed, and armour. So, a bunch of unusually-configured machine armour's with heavy plates, and all armed with machine guns.
The various boards he writes to are unwilling to finance his somewhat optimistic designs, so he finances them himself, pulling together three such 'land battleships', and using connections to find a Lieutenant used to Machine Armour, who then locates a combat medic who claims to have killed a Death Commando in single combat, and an ex-nun who literally grew up in no-mans land.
Together, they form quite a potent linebreaker unit, as well as surprisingly good propagandists, as the armoured cameras capture the horrified looks of their enemies as well as any tactical information.

Running gags are always great, do a lot of players run court or do you just body the one guy who runs them?

>What's the story behind /yourdudes/?
Me and one other friend are getting friends into the game, we each ended up just picking one of the two to help out - my one went with the Knights of Avarice so I decided my warband would be the Greed-Court so that, in universe, I was also "showing them the ropes" so to speak (just with more whipping in-fiction).

Fan setting of china in trench crusade. Just stuff that popped into my thread. Thought i'd share.

China seems like a really, really commonly brought up setting for Trench Crusade. I wonder if they'll do something there after the Carcass Front campaign.

North Qing and South Ming——
The Nestorian Mongol Mobile Golden Horde Fortress
>The Mobile Golden Horde is a marvel upon the God-given evergreen steppe. From the towns beyond the Inner Line Great Wall to the contested grasslands past the Outer Line, littered with bones and vehicle wrecks, and even to the Ejut's steadfast "Iron Gate Pass" holding out in the western deserts, people rely on these mobile fortresses—a fusion of divine miracle and industry—to contend with heretics who possess superior armored forces. For the faithful on the steppe, their famed Mongol grenadier cavalry and Kheshig troops might suffice to delay the heretics' standard expeditionary legions. However, against the Manna-Shifting Sands Army, adept at warfare in deserts, badlands, and grasslands, and skilled at expanding their terrain advantages to slowly erode the divinely blessed verdant land, survival beyond the Great Wall depends on the Mobile Golden Hordes for evasion and localized counterattacks.

Its probably the most TC-way to go about things, find the weird cases of chinese christianity and pull from the shit they did.

newfag here

what's the best way to get into and play trench crusade online with my friends on other continents? My first thoughts is to use the VTTs we already use for ttrpgs but I imagine there's probably a better way of doing it

also are the scotland and ireland mini-factions any good? they're the only things that'll make me play the good guy factions over the bad guy factions
>>
>>96796229
there's a TTS mod which is supposedly pretty good
>also are the scotland and ireland mini-factions any good?
both are ass I'm afraid
>>
Does Trench Crusade have an equivalent to the Imperial Knights? Can I use Gundam or Armored Core models as proxies?
>>
>>96796343
Aren't those giant robots? They really do not fit in skirmish level game. Maybe in future you get to play massive mecha knight or hegemon of black grail
>>
>>96796343

There are no giant stompy robots. The closest you get are models like the Brazen Bull, Gargantuan Size Homunculi or the Court Praetor, which are made of meat, are about the size of 40k boxnaughts and take 50-60mm bases. Given how massive the Bull is on a properly densified table and with your usual 12-ish models per side, anything bigger would get impractical.

Developers have said "no paladins" and paladins are on the same level as Hegemons, so it's unlikely things will ever get much bigger than they currently are. We are due to get the Crusader Knights at some point, who wear knight suits that are about three metres tall and are functionally small mechs, but nothing is going to match the sleek, futuristic Gundam or AC aesthetics.

Preview of 1.0 rules, keyword BLAST is being changed a bit, bigger bit of info is that equipment have 'abilities' rather than just a very large, clunky block of text, and also the rule MURAD Bombard, Witch Bomb, etc use is now a Keyword of its own (SCATTER).

>>
>>96794389
Think there are also Taoists and Buddhists in there, its a whole soup
>>
>>96794389
Christianity has been in China almost as long Buddhism has been, possibly as early as 1st Century AD (though more likely 7th Century), which means Chinese Christianity might be older or as old as Islam as a whole religion. There were a lot of Mongols who were Christian, too.
>>
>>96803338
I know. Its interesting that Christianity had spread to China multiple times, just to disappear for some silly reason. Usually because Christians began to disrupt peace, and authorities began to suppress the religion.
But China is becoming Christian again, for now.

Hope nothing breaks it.

the Chinese Rites controversy is one of the funniest self-owns of all times. The Pope basically singlehandedly got Christianity banned in China for 300 years just because Jesuits made him seethe so hard that he had a civilization-altering nigger moment
