Have you ever played a pen&paper RPG in a non-convention setting (at home, etc) with a black person or woman? Genuinely curious.
>>96794398My current group has three girls in it.All my previous groups have had one or two girls.Never played with a nigger.
>>96794398A woman (female), yes.
>>96794398My current group has one of each.
>>96794398Oh huh, now that I think of it I don't think I've ever ran a game for a black person, even if one of the Indians insisted he could drop the n-word cause he was basically black. Nearly had an Aboriginal kid join one of the sessions I used to run for the library but he got told to not be a fag by his friends lmao.
>>96794398My current friend group have two women we regulary play with. There are no black humans in my surroundings, and I personally know only one black person of my nation, so I've never played with people of other colors.
>>96794398One group I play with has a black guy and the other has a woman.
>>96794398I am Polish. Up until recently the populists started to (at the same time, no less!) doing the "stranger danger" campaign to scare the elderly and also importing ad hoc around a million of niggers and pajeet, the worst you could see here was a gypsy (which in my book is worse than any fucking ethnicity or race). So no, never played with a nigger, since there were none. But if you don't have at least a token single female in your group, then there is a high chance you are gay.
>>96794398There are (almost) no niggers in my country. My GM is a woman.
>>96794398My pen and paper group has a woman The other 5 people are enbies
>>96794398I have played with women (female) several times and most have been good experiences. The only time I have ever had a bad experience with women at the table is when they're there because their boyfriend/husband is there. In my (admittedly very limited) experience, women in this context don't actually want to play the game, and are just there to spend time with their partner. Because they're not actually interested in the game, it leads to alot of having to stop the game to explain and re-explain the rules or current events of the game, because there's really no way to force someone to care about a thing they're not really interested in.
>>96794398I only play with my in-laws but they arent white nor black.Playing with w*men at the table sounds like a fucking nightmare though.
>>96794398Yes, I was good friends with a black guy who was in my friend group and played RPGs for about four years until I moved away. Then I was in a group with four girls for about two and a half years that fell apart in part due to the pandemic. My current group is all white guys in their 30s to 50s (although one is Jewish). On top of that I'm a pre-2016 /pol/lack, make of that what you will.
>>96795157>The only time I have ever had a bad experience with women at the table is when they're there because their boyfriend/husband is there. One of the girls in my group only joined because her husband pushed her into it but once he did, she loved it. Probably the most enthusiastic player in the group now and even one of our regular GMs now. Kinda funny, one of the other players in the group had been her friend since they started school together and had apparently been trying for years to convince her to give rpgs a try, only to get shot down every time and teased about being such a fucking nerd. Then her bf asks her to do the same, she gives in immediately and discovers she loves it.
Our online group had two women in it. After a few years, one of them was responsible for a dramatic implosion and a short-term civil war that led to at least one offline stabbing (that I know of).
>>96795222>I only play with my in-laws but they arent white nor black.>Playing with w*men at the table sounds like a fucking nightmare though.Isn't D&D haram?
>>96794398Around 1/3 of my players are women and I've been GMing for almost 15 years now. Despite what some out of touch fags here may claim, there really, really isn't that much of a difference between girls and guys when it comes to RPGs: some female players I've had were great, some were awful, some were mid. Some were very invested in the game, some came mostly to hang out. Just like with men. The only consistent difference I've noticed is that I've never had a female player who was strongly into the "crunch" side of RPGs - who really enjoyed digging into the system and analysing it beyond what was absolutely necessary to play, while I had plenty of male players who loved doing that. Girls seem to care more about the story part of the game on average. That being said, I absolutely did have female players who enjoyed planning, playing strategically etc. I've never had a black (or other non-white) player, but I live in a country where there are almost no people of other races whatsoever, so it's not really surprising
>>96794398Is that asshole really lighting a pipe indoors around other people?
>>96794398I ran a Traveller (Mongoose 2nd ed) for a the staff at a restaurant I worked at, I was a cook. Party included 2 women, a gay guy and at two mixed race guys. Everyone got super into character and played everything super straight (lol) in a sense of committing to the bit. There was defiantly something "pure" about the 1st time experience as aside from myself, it was everyone's 1st time playing any TTRPG. Like the first mission I had them do, was to transport a live tiger from one city to another, and since the tiger needed to be live they actually had to deal with it an not just shoot it. It was great watching them come up with solutions. I get where you are going with this thread and how you are phrasing your question (not having a go here and maybe I'm wrong) however I'd say it doesn't matter about the race or gender or sexual preference of the player, its about the personality of the player and how well they mess with the rest of the group. I certainty would say that the restaurant life, where we'd all be pulling 10+ hour days together and THEN go play 4+ hours of TTRPG was a great way to keep the group cohesive as we all pulling in the same direction at work then at play. TL;DR - yes and it was possibly one of the best campaigns I've ever, run, super proud of that crew.
>>96794398I haven't been a single group that hasn't had women in it in my 30+ years of experience in ttrpgs. I think this idea of unwashed neckbeards no girls allowed club is entirely an american thing. Not a single black though.
>>96795371If he's the GM and it's his house, he can do it.
>>96794398Yes.
>>96794398...seriously?I'm a perma-GM, my player group always has a significant proportion of girls (XX). Usually two or three out of around seven players. Not even the same two or three, either, and usually my wife isn't one of them. (She plays, but she's more of the "GM's girlfriend" type of player)I honestly never felt much difference in the way they played, but I run fairly story-driven games, so it may have something to do with it.My best friend is black (and a both the biggest weeb and military-strategy geek among my friends. Not to mention funny and cool AF) but he's the only regular player I have who's black. However, he's from one of the French oversea territories in the Caribbeans, so it's not entirely clear which proportion of African and South Indian lineage he's coming from, if you want to go this way.
>>96794666>gypsy (which in my book is worse than any fucking ethnicity or raceBased knower. The European gypsy is far worse than the American black person.>>96794398My group has three women. Pretty good players too.
>>96794398Weird switch from the art being people playing the game to people socializing and not playing the game.
>>96794398>Have you ever played a pen&paper RPG in a non-convention setting (at home, etc) with a black person or woman? Genuinely curious.Four of the home groups and one public group I've been part of over the years have included women. My home groups have never included any black people, but the public group I was part of did.Home Group 1, briefly, included my sister. This is my original group, and my sister was part of it for a decent amount of time before she got an actual job and moved to another city for work.Public Group A was, as the name implies, a public group. We met either at an LGS or at an available room at a college campus nearby. This group had a decent number of women, and one black guy who'd show up regularly.Home Group 2 was a game that me and my then at the time girlfriend joined. The GM's girlfriend was also a player in this game. It was a fun time. This was a group spun off of public group A.Group 3 was also a group spun off from public group A. The women in question was the GM's wife. They were also big into magic, and helped me get back into the game. It was fun.Group 4 is basically a reformation of group 1, years later over discord, with there being a westmarches style game being run weekly. This has multiple women in it. My sister is in the server but is not actively participating due to timezone problems. Likewise, two people's wives have also joined - one joins infrequently, the other is a regular participant.I am only counting long lasting groups. If we are counting groups that only lasted a session or two, the answer changes.
>>96795803It's implying that the session is ending and everyone is getting up to leave
>>96794398>black personOf the few black friends I've had in my life, none were interesting in TTRPGs and never wanted to come along when invited>womanQuite a few actually. Friends and friends of friends and girlfriends of friends. Few of them were fine, but most showed up to socialize and gossip because they didn't have much of a social life otherwise and game night was a convenient excuse to do so with a group of up to a dozen familiar and friendly people. None of them were malicious or antagonistic towards playing the game, but it was a lower priority for them
>>96794398Several women over the years but only one black dude. One black woman as well, but she was a girl the DM was trying to woo and they were both shitfaced the whole time. Doesn't really count.
>>96794398Women, yes.Negroes, semites, arabs or asians, no.
>with a black person No, I am Black though, does that count? I've only ever played and GM'd white male friends though.
>>96795222It sounds like anyone playing with you is a nightmare.
>>96794398Where are the monsters and treasure?
>>96795371It may be a really old image. There was a time when many people smoked and what that guy is doing is not such a issue.
>>96794398>womenyes>trans playeryes>gay/bi playeryes>black playernot to my knowledge (we mostly play online)
>>96794398not american. we dont do black people here besides the capital maybei have played with women more than i have without. Especially during uni
>>96794398Yes, on both accounts, but as with everything else their ethnicity and gender were ultimately irrelevant.
>>96794666>But if you don't have at least a token single female in your group, then there is a high chance you are gay.Ok Polack Satan, where are these vaunted women who are so into tabletop? I only know my friend's gf and the gf's friend who has moved abroad since
>>96794398I have played with a lot of women and minorities but no blacks specifically. My state has a lot of minorities but very few blacks. And I’ve never met one that even gave a hint towards wanting to play a tabletop game.
>>96794398>See all these anons not having a single experience with a black person in TTRPGs>I am Black>Realize that the group I'm DMing for is probably having, statically speaking, a unicorn experience.I don't really understand nor want this feel.
>>96794398With a woman? Yes, at every table me
>>96798909Be the change you want to see, incite more people on your community to become GMs.
>>96798909dont be so discouraged anon. half the people here are racist trumpers that would never play with a person of colour, some are simply white suburban kids/young adults living where there are no black people on sight and the rest are europeans living in countries without black people otuside of a couple major cities at mostthis mostly speaks about the population of the site
>>96794398Yes my game at the lgs in our local mall actually attracted a lot of women. None of them stayed for more than a handful of sessions except the ones that ended up dating my friends. We had a black guy too but he was a 21 year old who had some condition where he never matured past 12, he was in some car accident and it scrambled his noggin.
>>96794398Yeah there were a few women in my WFRP campaign, I didn't like how excited they got when I introduced the Fimir.
>>96795286Lolwut
>>96797407I've met my fair share of black weebs and black nerds, but the amount that are actually into TTRPGs is so rare that I find myself wondering why ANYONE is pandering to that audience at all. Last GenCon I don't think I saw a single black person at the con who wasn't panhandling outside on the street. They give out grants and free money to black creators just to get them to show up at the con, now! And yet, the way some publishers talk about black representation, you'd think they made up a significant, noticeable proportion of the hobby community and were actually, actively involved in things in a way that made the cries of "orcs are black people" sound like a legitimate complaint from someone who felt directly attacked, and not some upper middle class white woman complaining on behalf of an imaginary demographic.
>>96799057>LGS in the mallAbsolute kino
>>96794398We had one black kid in my group in high school, most of his stuff was held onto by other players because his momma would have whooped his ass for having "white" stuff. He was a cool guy though.
>>96799171There are plenty of black players. They just play in their own groups away from (you).
>>96794398The closest I got was telling the black guy who lived upstairs that I don't have time to hang out with him because I'm playing an elf game right now. To which he said that those are cool.
>>96794398My D&D group consists of four of us - me and another dude, and two women. None of us are couples.
>>96794398Yes, several times. One of my black friends has joined the game a few times. And most of the women I'm friends with are roleplayers, including my wife, who is one of our rotating GMs. I'm a little surprised that I haven't played with more black folk, considering where I live and that there are a lot of black nerds around,.>>96795373That sounds awesome, anon. What sort of restaurant was it? One of my players and I worked at a Korean place for a while.>>96798909I get you. I'm the only non-white person in my current games. They're all Scots and Boers and Irish, haha
>>96794398Yes, two of my regular players are black in the games I DM.One of them made a Goliath Cleric named "Knee Gah Roes" at one point, for a one-off. The other just really likes making unique characters.I play with one who is the DM's girlfriend, but I don't know either of them too well. She is fun to play with, isn't a problem player or anything.I DM'd for several friends and their girlfriends before. One time, after they rescued the 17 year old daughter of a nobleman, my friend's girlfriend said she wanted to molest her. The conversation went something like this.>"I'd like to molest her.>"What the fuck? No. What part of 'rescue my daughter' meant you could molest his daughter.">"Well, he didn't say 'bring her back unmolested.'"She backed down after I said let's not. Wasn't angry, but it was really fucking weird even if we just played it off as a laugh. The other time, I made a joke with my friend playing Knee in that same one-off about fighting an animated tree about it ending up like the scene in Evil Dead. One of Knee's brother's brought his girlfriend, it went something like:>"What scene in Evil Dead?"We then explained it.>"What? I don't know want to get raped by a tree! Please don't let me character get raped by a tree!"I calmed her down saying that it was only a joke to make my friend laugh, especially since he was coming from his brother's funeral. It wasn't anything I would ever do at that table, and neither would something like that ever happen to her character. She apparently had massive neurotic problems outside of that.
>>96799193It was unironically the best time in my life.
>>96798909I somehow have played with several, but that's probably because we have been friends for most of our lives at this point.
Yes. Indeed, I generally play with at least a women at the table.Blacks are rarer, but the history of immigration in my country is not the USA's one.
>>96800212To clarify: the Sex Offender Girlfriend and the tree incident were separate one-off sessions.
>>96794398>Have you ever played a pen&paper RPG in a non-convention setting (at home, etc) with a black person or woman?Yes. My father had a sabbatical in Santa Barbara. My brother put up a "hey, looking for players" sign in the one gaming store. One of the people who phoned was a 20-something woman who worked at a bank. She played D&D with us for a few months. At one point her character was hitting on my older brother's character. Note that older brother was 17 at the time...
>>96795862Yeah, they intentionally made art of people leaving the game instead of sitting around playing the game. I don't get why this intentional shift was made.
>>96794398>black personno>WomanOne of my DM's let his fiancee play. He would favor her, for obvious reasons. It was funny to watch them argue. I interjected with the rest of the players there that her character had gone insane and is arguing with someone in her head.
